Hello, I'm Grandpa. | 0:48:06 | 0:48:07
Are you ready to join me for a big adventure in tonight's bedtime story? | 0:48:07 | 0:48:12
Fantastic. | 0:48:12 | 0:48:14
The story is called Jack And The Flumflum Tree, | 0:48:14 | 0:48:18
and it's written by Julia Donaldson and David Roberts. | 0:48:18 | 0:48:22
Jack had a granny and his granny had spots. | 0:48:22 | 0:48:25
Great big, purple ones, lots and lots. | 0:48:26 | 0:48:30
The doctor came and he shook his head, | 0:48:30 | 0:48:32
"Your granny has the moozles," the doctor said. | 0:48:32 | 0:48:35
"And the only cure in the world," said he, | 0:48:35 | 0:48:38
"is the fruit that grows on the flumflum tree. | 0:48:38 | 0:48:41
"And the only place that the flumflum grows" | 0:48:41 | 0:48:45
"is the faraway Isle of Blowyernose." | 0:48:45 | 0:48:49
So, Jack built a boat, and Jack found a crew, | 0:48:49 | 0:48:52
red-cheeked Rose and stubble-cheeked Stu. | 0:48:52 | 0:48:55
And he said to Stu, and he said to Rose, | 0:48:55 | 0:48:58
"We're off to the Isle of Blowyernose." | 0:48:58 | 0:49:01
Granny came down to the dock with Jack, | 0:49:01 | 0:49:04
and she gave him a bulgy patchwork sack. | 0:49:04 | 0:49:08
And in that sack were a pair of wooden spoons | 0:49:08 | 0:49:11
a porridge bowl, tent pegs, some red and blue balloons, | 0:49:11 | 0:49:15
Granny's old skipping rope, a pack of chewing gum, | 0:49:15 | 0:49:18
three spotty hankies and a tom-tom drum. | 0:49:18 | 0:49:23
And Jack said, "Granny, what is the use of those?" | 0:49:23 | 0:49:27
"Aha," said Granny, and she tapped her nose. | 0:49:27 | 0:49:32
Then off sailed Jack with Stu and Rose | 0:49:32 | 0:49:35
to the faraway Isle of Blowyernose. | 0:49:35 | 0:49:38
"Sharks!" cried Rose. "Lots!" cried Stu. | 0:49:38 | 0:49:42
"They'll gobble us! They'll guzzle us! | 0:49:42 | 0:49:44
"Whatever shall we do?" | 0:49:44 | 0:49:46
"Don't get your knickers in a twist," said Jack. | 0:49:46 | 0:49:49
"Let's have a look in the patchwork sack. | 0:49:49 | 0:49:53
"Red balloons, blue balloons, they should do the trick! | 0:49:53 | 0:49:56
"Puff, puff, blow them up, let them go quick." | 0:49:56 | 0:49:59
Then the sharks went nip, and the sharks went gnash, | 0:49:59 | 0:50:02
chasing the balloons with a bang, pop, splash! | 0:50:02 | 0:50:05
"A leak!" cried Rose. "It's wet!" said Stu. | 0:50:05 | 0:50:08
"The boat is full of water, whatever shall we do?" | 0:50:08 | 0:50:11
"Don't get your knickers in a twist," said Jack. | 0:50:11 | 0:50:14
"Let's have a look in the patchwork sack." | 0:50:14 | 0:50:17
"Granny's pack of chewing gum, that'll do the trick." | 0:50:17 | 0:50:20
"Chew it up, stretch it out, stick it in quick." | 0:50:20 | 0:50:23
So, they chewed and they stretched and they plugged that hole, | 0:50:23 | 0:50:27
and they bailed out the water with Granny's porridge bowl. | 0:50:27 | 0:50:31
Then on sailed Jack with Stu and Rose | 0:50:31 | 0:50:33
for the faraway Isle of Blowyernose. | 0:50:33 | 0:50:36
"Whoops!" cried Rose, "Help!" cried Stu. | 0:50:36 | 0:50:39
"I can't swim for toffee! Whatever will you do?" | 0:50:39 | 0:50:42
"Don't get your knickers in a twist," said Jack. | 0:50:42 | 0:50:45
"Let's have a look in the patchwork sack." | 0:50:45 | 0:50:48
"Granny's old skipping rope, that should do the trick. | 0:50:48 | 0:50:51
"Hold tight, throw it out, grab the handle quick." | 0:50:51 | 0:50:55
So, they heaved and they hauled and they pulled Stu in. | 0:50:55 | 0:50:58
"Good old Granny, she saved my skin." | 0:50:58 | 0:51:02
Then, on sailed Jack with Stu and Rose, | 0:51:02 | 0:51:04
till they came to the Isle of Blowyernose. | 0:51:04 | 0:51:07
And there on a hill for all to see | 0:51:09 | 0:51:12
stood the bright, green, feathery flumflum tree. | 0:51:12 | 0:51:16
"It's tall!" cried Rose. "It's smooth!" cried Stu. | 0:51:16 | 0:51:20
"It's not got any branches, whatever shall we do?" | 0:51:20 | 0:51:23
"Don't get your knickers in a twist," said Jack. | 0:51:23 | 0:51:26
"Let's have a look in the patchwork sack." | 0:51:26 | 0:51:29
"Granny's bag of tent pegs, that should do the trick. | 0:51:29 | 0:51:32
"Bang, bang, knock them in, climb the tree quick." | 0:51:32 | 0:51:35
Then up went Rose as nimble as could be, | 0:51:35 | 0:51:38
and she brought down the fruit of the flumflum tree. | 0:51:38 | 0:51:42
Then Jack and Stu and Rose had a doze, | 0:51:43 | 0:51:47
on the soft, sandy beach of Blowyernose. | 0:51:47 | 0:51:50
"A thief!" cried Rose, "A monkey!" yelled Stu. | 0:51:50 | 0:51:53
"He's got our precious flumflum, whatever shall we do?" | 0:51:53 | 0:51:56
"Don't get your knickers in a twist." said Jack, | 0:51:56 | 0:51:59
"Let's have a look in the patchwork sack. | 0:51:59 | 0:52:02
"Granny's spoons and tom-tom, they should do the trick, | 0:52:02 | 0:52:05
"pick them up, thump, thump, sing a song quick!" | 0:52:05 | 0:52:08
The monkey crept closer, he listened to the tunes | 0:52:08 | 0:52:11
he put down the flumflum, and he grabbed the wooden spoons. | 0:52:11 | 0:52:16
Then, back sailed Jack with Stu and Rose, | 0:52:16 | 0:52:19
all the way home from Blowyernose. | 0:52:19 | 0:52:22
Granny ate the flumflum, the moozles disappeared. | 0:52:22 | 0:52:25
"She's cured!" said the doctor, and everyone cheered. | 0:52:25 | 0:52:30
And Jack said, "Thank you for the pair of wooden spoons, | 0:52:30 | 0:52:33
"the porridge bowl, the skipping rope, the red and blue balloons. | 0:52:33 | 0:52:37
"Thank you for the tent pegs, and the pack of chewing gum. | 0:52:37 | 0:52:41
"And thank you, Granny, for the tom-tom drum. | 0:52:41 | 0:52:44
"But the three spotty hankies, what was the use of those?" | 0:52:44 | 0:52:49
"The hankies, silly, were to blow your nose." | 0:52:49 | 0:52:54
And that story was called Jack And The Flumflum Tree. | 0:52:57 | 0:53:02
Oh, all that excitement has worn me out. It's time for a little lie down. | 0:53:02 | 0:53:07
And I'll see you soon for another adventure. | 0:53:07 | 0:53:11
Good night. | 0:53:11 | 0:53:13 |
