Oooh! | 0:41:06 | 0:41:08 | |
Hello. I'm Ashley. | 0:41:09 | 0:41:12
I've made a mug of hot chocolate to enjoy before bedtime, | 0:41:12 | 0:41:15
but it's too hot to drink. | 0:41:15 | 0:41:19
I'll leave it to cool down for a bit. | 0:41:19 | 0:41:21
While I wait, would you like to hear a bedtime story? | 0:41:24 | 0:41:28
You would? | 0:41:28 | 0:41:30
Great. | 0:41:30 | 0:41:31
Well, tonight's bedtime story | 0:41:31 | 0:41:35
is called Goldilocks | 0:41:35 | 0:41:38
And Just The One Bear. | 0:41:38 | 0:41:41
And it's by Leigh Hodgkinson. | 0:41:41 | 0:41:43
Once upon a time | 0:41:44 | 0:41:46
-there was this bear. -HORNS BEEP | 0:41:46 | 0:41:48
One minute he was lolloping about in the wood all happy-go-lucky, | 0:41:48 | 0:41:53
the next minute he hadn't a crumb of a clue where he was. | 0:41:53 | 0:41:56
He was one completely lost bear. | 0:41:56 | 0:41:59
TRAFFIC ROARS | 0:41:59 | 0:42:00
Bear didn't much like this place. | 0:42:02 | 0:42:04
Too many bright lights and not enough twigs. | 0:42:04 | 0:42:08
Too much honking and beeping, | 0:42:08 | 0:42:11
and not nearly enough owl hooting. | 0:42:11 | 0:42:14
The bear was also a teeny bit scared, | 0:42:14 | 0:42:17
and his furry legs had gone slightly wobbly. | 0:42:17 | 0:42:21
"Maybe the thing to do," said the bear, looking round, | 0:42:22 | 0:42:26
"is to nip into Snooty Towers here | 0:42:26 | 0:42:29
"and get away from this terrible racket." | 0:42:29 | 0:42:32
But the spinny Snooty Towers door made the bear feel dizzy, | 0:42:34 | 0:42:39
and being dizzy with wobbly legs was bad news. | 0:42:39 | 0:42:42
BEAR SIGHS | 0:42:42 | 0:42:43
What the bear needed was a little sit-down. | 0:42:43 | 0:42:46
A little sit-down somewhere would definitely see him tickety-boo. | 0:42:47 | 0:42:51
LIFT BELL RINGS | 0:42:51 | 0:42:53
The bear peeped through a door | 0:42:53 | 0:42:55
and thought how very pleasant it was up here. | 0:42:55 | 0:42:59
"Not nasty and noisy like down there," | 0:42:59 | 0:43:02
thought the bear, | 0:43:02 | 0:43:04
"just the place for a little sit-down." | 0:43:04 | 0:43:07
All that whooshy travelling was certainly a hungry business. | 0:43:07 | 0:43:11
So, before his little sit-down, | 0:43:11 | 0:43:15
a spot of porridge seemed a good idea. | 0:43:15 | 0:43:18
"Oh, this porridge is too soggy," said the bear. | 0:43:18 | 0:43:24
"This porridge is too crunchy," said the bear. | 0:43:24 | 0:43:30
"This porridge is a bit on the dry side," said the bear. | 0:43:30 | 0:43:36
"But it's better than nothing." | 0:43:36 | 0:43:39
Now the bear was ready for his little sit-down. | 0:43:39 | 0:43:42
"This chair is too ouchy," said the bear. | 0:43:42 | 0:43:48
"This chair is too noisy," | 0:43:48 | 0:43:51
-said the bear. -CAT MEOWS | 0:43:51 | 0:43:54
"This chair is just right," said the bear. | 0:43:56 | 0:44:00
A little sit-down is all very well, | 0:44:01 | 0:44:03
but what the bear needed to feel really tickety-boo | 0:44:03 | 0:44:07
was a good old-fashioned lie-down in a comfy bed. | 0:44:07 | 0:44:13
"This bed is too frothy," said the bear. | 0:44:15 | 0:44:19
"This bed is too pink," said the bear. | 0:44:19 | 0:44:24
"Oh! | 0:44:24 | 0:44:26 | |
"This bed is just right," | 0:44:26 | 0:44:30
yawned the bear. | 0:44:30 | 0:44:33
And soon... | 0:44:33 | 0:44:35
he nodded off. | 0:44:35 | 0:44:37
The bear dreamt of crunching through leaves. | 0:44:37 | 0:44:42
The bedroom of pottering about in his slippers. | 0:44:42 | 0:44:46
The bedroom of a voice shouting very, very loudly, | 0:44:46 | 0:44:51
"Somebody has been eating my fish bowl," | 0:44:51 | 0:44:55
said the daddy person. | 0:44:55 | 0:44:56
"Somebody has been eating my dear little pumpkin's kitty nibbles," | 0:44:56 | 0:45:01
said the mummy person. | 0:45:01 | 0:45:04
"And somebody has been eating my toast," said the little person, | 0:45:04 | 0:45:09
"and they've eaten it all up." | 0:45:09 | 0:45:10
Unfortunately, the bear was not dreaming at all. | 0:45:12 | 0:45:16
He was wide awake. | 0:45:16 | 0:45:18
And back in real life again. | 0:45:18 | 0:45:21
"Somebody has squished my cactus," said the daddy person. | 0:45:21 | 0:45:26
"Somebody has upset my dear little pumpkin," said the mummy person. | 0:45:26 | 0:45:31
"And somebody has popped my beanbag," said the little person. | 0:45:31 | 0:45:37
"Somebody has been sleeping in my bath," said the daddy person. | 0:45:38 | 0:45:44
"Somebody has been sleeping in my bed," said the mummy person. | 0:45:44 | 0:45:49
"Ssh!" | 0:45:49 | 0:45:51
whispered the little person. | 0:45:51 | 0:45:54
"I think that somebody is sleeping in my bed right now." | 0:45:54 | 0:45:59
The bear peeked from underneath the duvet | 0:46:00 | 0:46:04
to see a daddy person, | 0:46:04 | 0:46:06
a mummy person, | 0:46:06 | 0:46:08
and a little person, standing right there. | 0:46:08 | 0:46:12
The bear thought that the mummy person | 0:46:13 | 0:46:16
looked ever so slightly familiar. | 0:46:16 | 0:46:19
Hmm. | 0:46:19 | 0:46:20 | |
And the mummy person thought that | 0:46:20 | 0:46:23
scoffing other people's breakfasts, | 0:46:23 | 0:46:26
breaking other people's stuff, | 0:46:26 | 0:46:28
and snoozing in other people's beds, | 0:46:28 | 0:46:32
seemed ever so slightly familiar too. | 0:46:32 | 0:46:36
Then the penny dropped. | 0:46:36 | 0:46:39
"Little bear?" said the mummy person. | 0:46:40 | 0:46:44
"Goldilocks?" said the bear. | 0:46:44 | 0:46:47
"Porridge?" asked Goldilocks. | 0:46:48 | 0:46:52
The bear nodded. | 0:46:52 | 0:46:54
So Goldilocks cooked up a big bowl and plonked it in front of him. | 0:46:54 | 0:47:00
It was not too hot, | 0:47:00 | 0:47:02
it was not too cold, | 0:47:02 | 0:47:04
it was just right. | 0:47:04 | 0:47:06
It made the bear almost forget about | 0:47:07 | 0:47:10
that once upon a time when Goldilocks had behaved so badly, | 0:47:10 | 0:47:14
This little bear would never dream of doing anything like that. | 0:47:15 | 0:47:21
And although it had been good | 0:47:21 | 0:47:23
to see Goldilocks living so happily ever after | 0:47:23 | 0:47:27
with those charming people, | 0:47:27 | 0:47:29
the bear decided it was time to go back home to the woods. | 0:47:29 | 0:47:33
That story is called Goldilocks And Just The One Bear. | 0:47:34 | 0:47:38
I hope you enjoyed it. | 0:47:39 | 0:47:41
Now, grab your favourite teddy, and get cuddled up in bed. | 0:47:41 | 0:47:46
Sleep tight, and I'll be back soon for another bedtime story. | 0:47:46 | 0:47:51 |
