Hello there. My name's Sam and I'm here to read you a bedtime story.
I'm very excited about it! So is my friend here. He's called Mark.
This is a story all about an elephant with a bit of a problem.
It's called Elephant's Pyjamas and it's by Michelle Robinson.
Emily Fox drew the pictures.
Elephant's inbox said, "New Mail!" He clicked on it, excited.
Elephant charged straight up the stairs and rummaged through
his clothes. "A tatty nightgown? Massive pants?
"I can't turn up in those!" Elephant checked his Zoogle page.
Everyone was there and every single animal knew just what
they would wear.
Donkey's jim jams looked divine. There were bunnies all over Bear's.
Everyone had pyjamas. In fact, they all had spares.
Flamingo's were pink, Zebra's striped, Dog's spare pair was blue.
Even Hippo had two onesies! Oh, what would Elephant do?
"Just go shopping," Llama said. So Elephant went to town.
"I need new nightwear, jumbo size, and a giant dressing gown."
Elephant thought outside the box. He shopped around a bit.
He searched, he stretched, he squashed, he squeezed,
but nothing seemed to fit.
Elephant sat and Elephant cried.
He clicked RSVP. "Have a nice time but I can't come.
"There were no pyjamas for me."
Well, maybe elephants go to sleep but Zoogle never does.
When Elephant's friends saw his message, oh, what a fuss there was!
"Right," said Donkey, "listen up! He says he isn't going but I've a plan.
"Come round to mine. I hope you're good at sewing."
Saturday night came round so fast.
Elephant sat at home - no party, no cake, no games, no friends,
no pyjamas, just alone.
Surprise! Spare pyjamas? Not any more! Just one pair for a friend.
One happy elephant, ready for bed. Party on! Sweet dreams! The end.
Aw, I'm so glad that Elephant got to go to the party in the end.
What special friends he has!
It's time now to put on your pyjamas
and dream of sleepovers with your friends. Sleep well.
I'll see you again soon for another bedtime story. Come on, Mark.
