Do you want to join us? | 0:00:16 | 0:00:18
Great. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:20
Our story tonight is called Ellie's Magic Wellies | 0:00:20 | 0:00:23
and it's written by Amy Sparkes and illustrated by Nick East. | 0:00:23 | 0:00:27
One miserable day, it rained and it poured. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:31
Ellie Pengelly was fed up and bored. | 0:00:33 | 0:00:36
Until at the door, came a rat-a-tat-tat! | 0:00:37 | 0:00:41
And there stood Aunt Flo with her marvellous hat. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:45
"I'm late for the dentist," said Mum. "I must go." | 0:00:46 | 0:00:50
"But you stay and play with your dear Auntie Flo." | 0:00:50 | 0:00:54
Her aunt gave a smile. "You won't be bored, Ellie! | 0:00:54 | 0:00:58
"I've brought you a pair of fantabulous wellies." | 0:00:58 | 0:01:01
"Aw, thanks, Auntie Flo. They're great!" Ellie cried. | 0:01:04 | 0:01:08
"And, look, it's even stopped raining outside." | 0:01:08 | 0:01:12
"Just find some puddles," Flo called after Ellie. | 0:01:12 | 0:01:16
"And then you'll have fun with those wonderful wellies." | 0:01:16 | 0:01:20
Ellie found a big puddle for splashing about. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:25
But as she jumped in, a strange creature jumped out. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:31
Splish, splash, splosh! | 0:01:31 | 0:01:33
"My wellies are magic!" cried Ellie with glee. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:39
The creature bowed low as he said, happily, | 0:01:39 | 0:01:42
"I'm a Flibberty Gibberty, hip-hip-hooray! | 0:01:42 | 0:01:46
"I'm out of my puddle and ready to play. | 0:01:46 | 0:01:50
"Let's wriggle, let's giggle, let's skip to the sky! | 0:01:51 | 0:01:56
"Play hippity hop-scotch, and flap till we fly. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
"Let's zippity-zoom, that's just what I like," | 0:01:59 | 0:02:03
the Flibberty said as he hopped on the bike. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:07
But after a while, Ellie ran out of puff. "I'm tired," she said. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:12
"Haven't you had enough?" | 0:02:12 | 0:02:15
"Nonsense and flip flap!" the Flibberty said. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:19
"No time for flap-flapping, come stand on your head!" | 0:02:19 | 0:02:22
A thought came to Ellie. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:26
"Let's go in and eat." | 0:02:26 | 0:02:28
The Flibberty clapped, "A splendiddily treat!" | 0:02:28 | 0:02:32
He darted inside, flinging open the door, | 0:02:32 | 0:02:35
and emptied the fridge out on Mum's kitchen floor! | 0:02:35 | 0:02:40
"Let's juggle with jam and jiggle with jelly! | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
"Let's guzzle and gobble," he giggled to Ellie. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:46
She looked at the floor. "We should tidy away." | 0:02:48 | 0:02:52
But Flibberty said, "Why? There's still time to play!" | 0:02:52 | 0:02:56
"Let's zoom through the rooms, bounce a bounce on the beds. | 0:02:57 | 0:03:01
"Let's flubble with bubbles and wear pants on our head!" | 0:03:01 | 0:03:05
Then Auntie Flo called, "That was Mum on the phone. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:10
"She rang up to say that she's on her way home." | 0:03:10 | 0:03:13
"Home?!" squeaked Ellie. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
"But look at this mess! | 0:03:15 | 0:03:17
"Oh, put down that lipstick and take off that dress! | 0:03:17 | 0:03:20
"We've both turned the house upside down everywhere, | 0:03:20 | 0:03:24
"but I'll be in trouble. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:26
"That just isn't fair." | 0:03:26 | 0:03:28
The Flibberty blushed. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:30
"From my tail to my paws, | 0:03:30 | 0:03:34
"I'm most muchly sorry for trouble I cause." | 0:03:34 | 0:03:37
Ellie couldn't stay cross as she watched her friend bow. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:43
But she needed a plan and she needed it now. | 0:03:43 | 0:03:46
"I know!" said Ellie. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:49
"Now listen to me. If we tidy together, how fast could we be?" | 0:03:49 | 0:03:53
The Flibberty clapped. | 0:03:55 | 0:03:57
"We'll be quick as a flick and tidy in half of a tickety-tick." | 0:03:57 | 0:04:02
The magical wellies made Ellie's feet zoom! | 0:04:02 | 0:04:05
And soon, they had straightened up ALL of the rooms. | 0:04:07 | 0:04:10
Then they ran to the garden and found Flibberty's puddle. | 0:04:12 | 0:04:15
"I'm glad you could play." | 0:04:15 | 0:04:18
Ellie gave him a cuddle. | 0:04:18 | 0:04:19
"So fabbity-funderful," her new friend said. | 0:04:21 | 0:04:24
"But now I am ready for snoozles in bed." | 0:04:24 | 0:04:28
They held hands and jumped, with a fabulous SPLASH! | 0:04:30 | 0:04:35
And Flibberty vanished, as quick as a flash. | 0:04:35 | 0:04:38
Just then, Mum appeared, with Aunt Flo at her side. | 0:04:38 | 0:04:41
"Nice wellies," said Mum, "Are you coming inside?" | 0:04:41 | 0:04:45
"Oh, no," Ellie said, | 0:04:45 | 0:04:47
"I would much rather stay and play in our puddly garden all day. | 0:04:47 | 0:04:52
"Now I'm off for another adventure," | 0:04:52 | 0:04:54
said Ellie. "More fantabulous fun with my magical wellies." | 0:04:54 | 0:04:59
What a wonderful adventure. | 0:05:02 | 0:05:04
I love splashing in puddles and looking at my reflection in them. | 0:05:04 | 0:05:09
Maybe tomorrow you can splash in puddles as well. | 0:05:09 | 0:05:12
Now it's time to go to bed, so snuggle up, nice and cosy. | 0:05:12 | 0:05:16
Sleep well. | 0:05:16 | 0:05:18
Night-night! | 0:05:18 | 0:05:19 |
