Hello. I'm Natalie.

0:00:060:00:09

I'm about to read a bedtime story about a cute little monster

0:00:090:00:14

who gets a big fright.

0:00:140:00:16

Would you like to listen?

0:00:160:00:19

Good.

0:00:190:00:20

It's called Love Monster And The Scary Something,

0:00:200:00:24

and it's by Rachel Bright.

0:00:240:00:26

It was way past bedtime o'clock in Cutesville

0:00:290:00:33

and everyone was fast asleep.

0:00:330:00:35

Everyone, that is, except one particular monster.

0:00:370:00:42

Hello, Love Monster.

0:00:420:00:45

You see, just like every night,

0:00:450:00:48

he'd made a cup of hot milk with chocolate sprinkles

0:00:480:00:52

and counted his way up the stairs.

0:00:520:00:54

One, two, three, four.

0:00:540:00:59

As usual, he'd read 15-and-a-half bedtime stories,

0:01:000:01:05

closed his eyes and snuggled in tight with teddy.

0:01:050:01:08

But, that night, the harder he tried to nod off, the awaker he was,

0:01:110:01:18

and the later and darker and spookier it got.

0:01:180:01:26

So Love Monster lay and listened to the sounds of the shadowy night.

0:01:270:01:33

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.

0:01:330:01:38

That was the clock.

0:01:380:01:40

Sssssssssssssssh!

0:01:400:01:44

That was the song of the wind in the leaves.

0:01:440:01:48

Hoo-hoo-oo!

0:01:480:01:51

That was the Cutesville owls.

0:01:510:01:54

Rustle-rustle!

0:01:540:01:57

That was the...

0:01:570:01:58

Hold on! What WAS that?!

0:02:000:02:05

It sounded like something in the garden.

0:02:050:02:08

Cr-e-e-e-e-eak!

0:02:120:02:15

Now it sounded like something downstairs.

0:02:150:02:20

Bang!

0:02:200:02:21

A-A-A-A-A-Argh!

0:02:210:02:24

He dived under the duvet, his heart beating loud and fast.

0:02:240:02:28

There was definitely something out there.

0:02:280:02:33

And that something had definitely got in.

0:02:330:02:38

Pittery-pat, pittery-pat, pittery-pat.

0:02:390:02:43

Oooooooo!

0:02:430:02:45

It sounded like the something had terrible, twisterly toenails.

0:02:450:02:51

Bump-bumpety! Scuffle! Shuffle! Bump!

0:02:510:02:56

Oh, no!

0:02:560:02:57

It sounded like the something with terrible, twisterly toenails

0:02:570:03:02

was coming up the stairs!

0:03:020:03:06

Crunch-crunch-crunchety-crunch!

0:03:070:03:11

Eek!

0:03:110:03:13

It sounded like the something with terrible, twisterly toenails

0:03:130:03:17

had great, big teeth.

0:03:170:03:20

And it sounded hungry!

0:03:200:03:23

Suddenly, Love Monster could bear it no longer.

0:03:230:03:28

Somehow...hiding from the something outside

0:03:280:03:34

got harder than finding something brave inside.

0:03:340:03:39

So he flung back the covers, flicked on the torch and...

0:03:390:03:44

"Fneep!" went the something.

0:03:450:03:49

As it turns out,

0:03:490:03:52

Love Monster hadn't been the only one who couldn't sleep that night.

0:03:520:03:56

And he wasn't the only one who didn't want to be alone.

0:03:580:04:02

CREAK!

0:04:020:04:03

MUNCHING

0:04:030:04:06

And as the tiniest, fluffiest bunny in Cutesville explained to his,

0:04:060:04:11

I suppose, a bit googly-eyed friend,

0:04:110:04:14

they both laughed and laughed until their tummies ached.

0:04:140:04:20

And you know what? The dark just didn't seem that spooky any more.

0:04:200:04:25

You see, sometimes it's only when you're brave enough

0:04:260:04:31

to face what you're afraid of

0:04:310:04:33

that you find there was nothing to be scared of after all.

0:04:330:04:37

Aw! It looks like Love Monster has found a great new friend.

0:04:400:04:46

I've got my own little fluffy bunny to keep me company, too.

0:04:460:04:50

And there's nothing scary about the dark really.

0:04:500:04:54

So let's settle down, nice and snug.

0:04:540:04:58

Sweet dreams.
