CBeebies Bedtime Story. | 0:30:03 | 0:30:05
What is going on? What's that teapot doing upside down? | 0:30:07 | 0:30:11
Oh, hello. I'm Warwick and I'm very confused. | 0:30:11 | 0:30:15
Everything seems to be upside down or in the wrong place. | 0:30:15 | 0:30:19
Do you know who's moved everything around? | 0:30:19 | 0:30:22
Look, even the book over there is upside down. | 0:30:22 | 0:30:25
It seems a bit topsy-turvy, doesn't it? | 0:30:25 | 0:30:29
Ah! That gives me a clue. | 0:30:29 | 0:30:32
I think we'll find the answer | 0:30:32 | 0:30:34
to this muddle in tonight's bedtime story. | 0:30:34 | 0:30:37
It's by Francesca Simon and Emily Bolam. | 0:30:37 | 0:30:40
It's called The Topsy-Turvies. | 0:30:40 | 0:30:44
Once upon a time there lived a family called the Topsy-Turvies. | 0:30:44 | 0:30:48
The Topsy-Turvies got up at midnight, they put on their pyjamas | 0:30:48 | 0:30:53
and went upstairs and had dinner. | 0:30:53 | 0:30:55
"Eat up, Minx," said Mr Topsy-Turvy. | 0:30:55 | 0:30:58
Minx juggled with the sausages. | 0:30:58 | 0:31:02
"Clever girl," said Mr Topsy-Turvy. | 0:31:02 | 0:31:05
"Jinx, stop eating with your fork," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:31:05 | 0:31:09
"You know that's for combing your hair. | 0:31:09 | 0:31:12
"Please use your fingers and toes!" | 0:31:12 | 0:31:14
"Could you pass the jam please, Minx," said Mr Topsy-Turvy. | 0:31:14 | 0:31:19
Minx dipped her fingers in the jar and hurled the jam at her father. | 0:31:19 | 0:31:23
"Thanks," said Mr Topsy-Turvy. | 0:31:23 | 0:31:26
"Could you pass the whipped cream, please," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:31:26 | 0:31:31
Jinks flung a handful of cream at his mother. | 0:31:31 | 0:31:34
"Thanks, dear," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:31:34 | 0:31:37
Then it was time for school. | 0:31:37 | 0:31:39
After school they went to the park. | 0:31:39 | 0:31:42
Then they played beautiful music together and watched TV. | 0:31:42 | 0:31:46
Afterwards they ate breakfast. | 0:31:46 | 0:31:48
Then it was bath time and they all went to bed. | 0:31:48 | 0:31:52
Every night and day at the Topsy-Turvies was exactly the same. | 0:31:52 | 0:31:57
Until - one afternoon a loud knocking at the door woke them up. | 0:31:57 | 0:32:02
"Oh, who can that be at this time of day?" yawned Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:32:02 | 0:32:08
It was their neighbour Mrs Plum. | 0:32:08 | 0:32:11
"Oh, dear," said Mrs Plum. | 0:32:11 | 0:32:13
"Were you just leaving?" | 0:32:13 | 0:32:15
"No," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:32:15 | 0:32:18
"Why would I go outside wearing my coat?" | 0:32:18 | 0:32:21
"I'm sorry to bother you but I've got to go out. | 0:32:21 | 0:32:25
"Could you look over little Lucy? She's as good as gold." | 0:32:25 | 0:32:29
Mrs Topsy-Turvy was very sleepy but she liked helping others. | 0:32:29 | 0:32:35
"Of course," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:32:35 | 0:32:38
"We'll be undressed in a minute." | 0:32:38 | 0:32:41
As soon as everyone was ready they went next door to Mrs Plum's house. | 0:32:41 | 0:32:46
"Thank you so much," said Mrs Plum. | 0:32:46 | 0:32:49
"Do make yourself at home and have something to eat." And off she went. | 0:32:49 | 0:32:54
"Mum, why is Mrs Plum wearing clothes outside?" said Minx. | 0:32:54 | 0:33:00
"Shoosh," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. "Everyone is different." | 0:33:00 | 0:33:06
The Topsy-Turvies goggled at Mrs Plum's house. Nothing looked right. | 0:33:06 | 0:33:11
"Poor Mrs Plum," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:33:11 | 0:33:15
"Let's make the house lovely for her." | 0:33:15 | 0:33:18
The Topsy-Turvies went to work. | 0:33:18 | 0:33:21
They fixed and they fussed and put the room in apple pie order. | 0:33:21 | 0:33:25
"That's better," said Mr Topsy-Turvy. | 0:33:25 | 0:33:28
"Careful, Lucy, don't put that apron on, | 0:33:28 | 0:33:31
"you'll get paint all over it," said Mr Topsy-Turvy. | 0:33:31 | 0:33:34
"Lucy, don't draw on the paper," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:33:34 | 0:33:38
"Draw on the walls." | 0:33:38 | 0:33:41
"Isn't she naughty," said Minx. | 0:33:41 | 0:33:44
"Not everyone can be as well-behaved as you, dear," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:33:44 | 0:33:49
"Oh, Lucy, what a lovely picture." | 0:33:49 | 0:33:52
"I'm hungry," said Jinx. "So am I," said Minx. | 0:33:52 | 0:33:56
Mrs Topsy-Turvy looked at the clock. | 0:33:56 | 0:33:59
It was almost five. | 0:33:59 | 0:34:02
"We might as well have some breakfast," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:34:02 | 0:34:06
"Let's see what food we can find in the bedroom." | 0:34:06 | 0:34:10
It took them a very long time to find where Mrs Plum kept her food. | 0:34:10 | 0:34:15
"What an odd house," said Mr Topsy-Turvy. | 0:34:15 | 0:34:18
"How funny to eat in the kitchen," said Minx. | 0:34:18 | 0:34:22
"Breakfast is under the table," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:34:22 | 0:34:26
"Don't forget to wash your feet." | 0:34:26 | 0:34:29
"What's for dessert?" said Minx. | 0:34:29 | 0:34:31
"Tomatoes," said Mr Topsy-Turvy. | 0:34:31 | 0:34:34
"Yippee," said Jinx. | 0:34:34 | 0:34:37
"But no tomatoes until you finish your cake." | 0:34:37 | 0:34:41
"Do I have to eat all my cake?" said Jinx. | 0:34:41 | 0:34:45
"Yes," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:34:45 | 0:34:48
Suddenly, there was a noise at the window. | 0:34:48 | 0:34:51
It was a burglar. | 0:34:51 | 0:34:53
"Hooray, we've got a visitor!" shouted Minx. | 0:34:53 | 0:34:57
"And he's coming through the window!" shouted Jinx. | 0:34:57 | 0:35:00
"Let's make everything lovely for our guest," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:35:00 | 0:35:05
"Please have something to eat," said Mr Topsy-Turvy, | 0:35:05 | 0:35:09
throwing a tomato at the burglar. | 0:35:09 | 0:35:11
The burglar looked unhappy. | 0:35:11 | 0:35:13
"Have some cake," said Jinx, hurling his leftovers. | 0:35:13 | 0:35:17
"No, have some of mine!" shouted Minx. | 0:35:17 | 0:35:20
"Mine, too!" shouted Lucy. | 0:35:20 | 0:35:23
The frightened burglar escaped as fast as he could. | 0:35:23 | 0:35:27
"Why did he run off?" said Minx. | 0:35:27 | 0:35:30
"I don't know," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:35:30 | 0:35:33
Then, Mrs Plum ran in. | 0:35:33 | 0:35:36
"Is everything all right?" said Mrs Plum. | 0:35:36 | 0:35:39
"I just saw a burglar jump out of the window." | 0:35:39 | 0:35:43
"Everything's fine," said Mr Topsy-Turvy. | 0:35:43 | 0:35:46
"You chased away a burglar?" said Mrs Plum. | 0:35:46 | 0:35:50
"Thank you, so much. Goodness, what a mess he's made." | 0:35:50 | 0:35:55
"What mess?" said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:35:55 | 0:35:58
The Topsy-Turvies waved goodbye and went home. | 0:35:58 | 0:36:03
"Never mind," said Mrs Topsy-Turvy. | 0:36:03 | 0:36:06
"It takes all sorts to make a world." | 0:36:06 | 0:36:09
And that story was called The Topsy-Turvies. | 0:36:09 | 0:36:12
Hmm. I definitely think that's who's made all this muddle. | 0:36:13 | 0:36:17
I'll put everything back as it should be | 0:36:17 | 0:36:20
and while I do, it's time for you to go to bed. | 0:36:20 | 0:36:23
I'll see you soon for another story. Night, night! | 0:36:23 | 0:36:26
Now, where shall I start? | 0:36:26 | 0:36:28
Teapot. That's better. | 0:36:28 | 0:36:30
