This year's competition has been a mixed bag.

It is Elf, in which over-enthusiastic elf, Buddy,

discovers he's a human,

and has to go to New York to find his real father,

who is definitely on Santa's naughty list.

He should have been good!

He should have gone to bed on Christmas Eve!

All the while, he's trying to spread Christmas cheer

to everyone he encounters.

So let's take a look at Buddy in action.

It's that awkward moment when the lights go off

but that one's still on.

Power cuts are horrible, cos you're just doing your thing,

a really good bit in the show comes on,

and then suddenly, you've got to reset all the clocks.

That's Not Hot, isn't it? So I shouldn't have moved.

I panicked, cos everybody was moving!

-I've never actually been in a power cut, though.

-I think they're scary!

They scare the life out of me!

But then you can go round and light your candles,

and it's just nice.

I've got one single alarm clock.

I ended up being two hours late for filming once. That's Not Hot!

That must have been the worst excuse ever! "Why are you late?"

To be honest when I first heard it, I didn't know it was JLS.

JLS have flipped it. Yeah.

But I really like it. I feel like this is what JLS was meant to do

from day one.

Cos One Direction has come through,

I think they've turned more R'n'B as a group.

Yeah, definitely, but JLS have been around for a while now

and they've constantly kept up,

from Beat Again all the way to this one. I'm a JLS fan.

I like the adrenaline rush, the competition,

and it's quite fiery sometimes.

If kids really want to get into table tennis, it's easy.

You can play on your dining room table.

You can fundamentally play anywhere you want with a surface and a net.

I would say it's easier for someone who's six or 96 to play the sport.

and the game we are doing today is basically one of the first games

for the Wii U which is out now, finally.

The game we are doing is called Nintendo Land,

and it's basically 12 games

involving all the Nintendo famous faces,

and we're going to play a game called Mario Chase.

It's basically like a big game of it,

so I'm going to be using this to control my character.

Can you see what's on there on there, as well?

I can see what's on there on here, yeah,

but the thing is, I'm going to go behind you guys,

because I'll be playing Mario on my big, cool controller,

and you guys will be chasing me around this colourful map we have.

I can see the whole map on here, so I can see where you guys are,

but you guys can only see what's in front of you.

-So, it's like hide-and-seek and tig, then?

-Sort of, yeah.

So you've just complicated it more for me.

-You guys have got to work together.

-Oh, I'm not... Right.

-You guys need to talk to let each other know and stuff, OK?

I get a ten-second start to run away, also at the bottom

of the screen there is a distance thing to let you know...

Yeah, and you can see them on the screen so close

but you can't get them.

They should have a slipstream thing, so if I'm running behind you,

I can run faster so I can catch you.

So, that was Nintendo Land, and now it's time for today's gadget,

so, we got this thing called Makey Makey.

-Do you make anything?

-It comes in a little, green box. Well, sort of.

I knew it.

Basically, it consists of this little circuit board and some wires.

-It looks like science.

-So, it may be a bit scary at first,

but it's actually a really simple but of kit that basically turns

random household items into remote controls.

Ah!

So, Aidan, if you would like to jump up and play on the banana piano,

but not before I tell you how, my friend,

because with all this and these wires, you're creating a circuit.

-Yeah.

-But to complete that circuit for it to work,

you need to complete it by holding on to that.

And then with your other hand, play the piano.

-PIANO NOTES

-Oh, that's so cool!

-It works, doesn't it?

-Whoa!

-It does work.

-How does this work? That's a bit freaky.

Basically, it creates a circuit,

and when the circuit is then completed,

it basically activates a command.

Every time you press one, you're pressing a different

thing on there, which goes to your computer differently.

But now, Aidan, could you please carefully reveal...

See when you say carefully, I'm a bit scared. It could be a household pet.

It's not dangerous, it's just another household item.

Some jelly! I've got a game for you on the screen,

I've got the Wizards Vs Aliens game.

-And you've got your controller, there?
