One day, the caterpillar saw a cloud.

Hello, cloud! Can I come and visit you?

Yes, please. It's always nice to have visitors.

So the caterpillar wiggled up the tallest tree,

but she couldn't reach the cloud.

I'll roll into a ball and bounce to the cloud!

She still couldn't reach the cloud

and she tumbled down to the ground.

Sorry, cloud. I might be late.

I'll wait!

The caterpillar climbed the tree again

and she saw a balloon.

A balloon might take me to the cloud!

She curled around the balloon's ribbon...

and floated up.

But along came a...

crow!

And the balloon went...pop!

The poor caterpillar tumbled to the ground again,

but she wouldn't give up.

When she reached the top of the tree this time,

she felt very tired.

SHE YAWNS LOUDLY

So the caterpillar spun a silky sleeping bag called a cocoon

and she slept for quite a long time.

Then one day, the cocoon opened

and out came a beautiful butterfly!

Where's my friend, the caterpillar?

so I can fly up and visit you!

The butterfly fluttered up to the cloud.
