This is Jackanory Junior. | 0:00:02 | 0:00:04
Hi, I'm Lenny, | 0:00:20 | 0:00:21
and I've got two stories for you. | 0:00:21 | 0:00:24
They're both about a cool crime-busting mouse, | 0:00:24 | 0:00:28
Rastamouse! | 0:00:28 | 0:00:30
Meet Rastamouse, Scratchy and Zuma, | 0:00:30 | 0:00:34
also known as the Easy Crew, | 0:00:34 | 0:00:36
crime-fighting special agents, with important work to do. | 0:00:36 | 0:00:41
They solve mysteries and have adventures. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:44
They're the best in the land, so cool, brave and funky. | 0:00:44 | 0:00:48
And they play in a reggae band! | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
REGGAE MUSIC | 0:00:50 | 0:00:52
They're jamming in the back yard, when suddenly they hear | 0:00:53 | 0:00:57
a transmission through the radio, loud and clear! | 0:00:57 | 0:01:01
Rastamouse, come in, come in, are you readin' me? | 0:01:02 | 0:01:06
Message from the President. Come immediately! | 0:01:06 | 0:01:09
So off speed Easy Crew, to the President's house. | 0:01:09 | 0:01:13
No time to jam! No time to waste! He's a very important mouse. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:17
Wensley Dale, the President, begins to show the crew | 0:01:19 | 0:01:23
a video of a cheesy thief, | 0:01:23 | 0:01:25
and asks what he should do. | 0:01:25 | 0:01:27
He goes by the name of Bandulu, has a bite out of his ear, | 0:01:28 | 0:01:32
wears a red and white bandana, and he's making a career | 0:01:32 | 0:01:36
of stealing from the dairies and shops ALL the city's cheese. | 0:01:36 | 0:01:40
I haven't been able to trap him yet. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:42
So Rastamouse, help me, please! | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
Me want to catch this t'ieving mouse, | 0:01:46 | 0:01:49
so give me your advice. | 0:01:49 | 0:01:50
He stole the last cheese that there was, from poor little orphan mice! | 0:01:50 | 0:01:55
Them little mice walk hungry. It makes me very sad, | 0:01:55 | 0:01:58
cried Wensley Dale, the President, | 0:01:58 | 0:02:01
This t'ief is super-bad! | 0:02:01 | 0:02:03
Rastamouse agrees to assist. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:06
Of course I will, irie, man. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:08
So he asks the help of the Easy Crew, | 0:02:08 | 0:02:11
to work up a crucial plan. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:13
Yo, Easy Crew, listen up. This is how it rests. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:16
Scratchy, you need a city map, and Zuma, your gymnast vest. | 0:02:16 | 0:02:20
Scratchy flies the President's plane, | 0:02:20 | 0:02:23
while Zuma hangs by his feet. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
They flypost the city with party invites, | 0:02:25 | 0:02:28
to ensure one reaches the thief. | 0:02:28 | 0:02:30
NEE-YAOOOW | 0:02:30 | 0:02:33
To gain entry to this party, | 0:02:35 | 0:02:37
an impossible request. | 0:02:37 | 0:02:38
Because a CHEESY dish is what you need, to be welcomed as a guest. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:43
No-one else HAS any cheese, no-one anywhere, | 0:02:43 | 0:02:46
Bandulu is the only mouse, who'll be expected there. | 0:02:46 | 0:02:50
As the thief is in this secret den, | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
wondering what to bake - | 0:02:54 | 0:02:56
with all the cheese he has, there's lots he could make! | 0:02:56 | 0:02:59
When in flies a piece of paper. | 0:02:59 | 0:03:01
It's the word "cheese" that catches his eye. | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
He sets to work immediately, | 0:03:04 | 0:03:06
to create a spectacular pie. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:09
With a dash of divine inspiration, | 0:03:13 | 0:03:16
he slices and crumbles and grates, | 0:03:16 | 0:03:19
a creative concoction of cheese, | 0:03:19 | 0:03:22
which he puts in the oven to bake. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:24
Meanwhile, back at the President's, | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
preparations are nearly complete, | 0:03:27 | 0:03:30
for a pretend prize-giving party, that will lure the rotten cheat. | 0:03:30 | 0:03:35
At seven, Bandulu puts on his tux, and straightens his red bow tie. | 0:03:36 | 0:03:41
Looks in the mirror, smiles at himself, | 0:03:41 | 0:03:44
then goes off to check on his pie. | 0:03:44 | 0:03:47
The pie is ready, and so is he, | 0:03:47 | 0:03:50
as the taxi whisks him away. | 0:03:50 | 0:03:52
When he arrives at the President's door, | 0:03:52 | 0:03:55
he feels it's his lucky day! | 0:03:55 | 0:03:57
His heart full of pride for his wonderful dish, | 0:03:57 | 0:04:00
he steps across the floor, unaware that his awesome pie, | 0:04:00 | 0:04:04
proves he's been breaking the law. | 0:04:04 | 0:04:07
When the spotlight falls on Bandulu, | 0:04:07 | 0:04:10
he thinks he's got the prize | 0:04:10 | 0:04:12
for the tastiest cheesy pie. | 0:04:12 | 0:04:14
So imagine the crook's surprise, | 0:04:14 | 0:04:16
when he doesn't get a prize at all, or any acclaim. | 0:04:16 | 0:04:20
Rastamouse stares him in the eye, and asks him to explain. | 0:04:20 | 0:04:24
The cheese has gone from everywhere, so come tell us, please, | 0:04:24 | 0:04:28
how you create this irie dish that's clearly made of cheese? | 0:04:28 | 0:04:32
OK, it was me. I t'ief all the cheese. | 0:04:32 | 0:04:35
I promise me not do it again. | 0:04:35 | 0:04:37
So Bandulu is handcuffed, taken outside, | 0:04:37 | 0:04:40
and frogmarched back to his den. | 0:04:40 | 0:04:43
Inside, his den is filled with cheese of every different sort. | 0:04:48 | 0:04:52
Who was going to eat the cheese, presuming you didn't get caught? | 0:04:52 | 0:04:57
-Just me alone, -Bandulu replies. -Me really love to cook, | 0:04:57 | 0:05:01
but me no have no friends at all. That's why I get fat - look. | 0:05:01 | 0:05:05
You'll have to take it back, every single piece. | 0:05:05 | 0:05:08
To them dairy and the orphanage. | 0:05:08 | 0:05:10
Then I'll call the police. | 0:05:10 | 0:05:12
Our hero unlocks Bandulu's cuffs, and tells him what to do. | 0:05:12 | 0:05:17
Give back them cheese to the baby mice, | 0:05:17 | 0:05:20
and no-one must do it but you. | 0:05:20 | 0:05:22
As the mice jump up and play around, | 0:05:22 | 0:05:25
one gives the thief's tail a tug. | 0:05:25 | 0:05:27
Then a teardrop falls from his eye, | 0:05:27 | 0:05:29
as they queue up to give him a hug. | 0:05:29 | 0:05:32
On seeing the baddy's remorseful look, | 0:05:32 | 0:05:35
Rastamouse has an idea. | 0:05:35 | 0:05:37
If Bandulu can have a change of heart | 0:05:37 | 0:05:40
perhaps he could change career? | 0:05:40 | 0:05:42
So Rastamouse makes a different call, | 0:05:42 | 0:05:45
direct to Wensley Dale. | 0:05:45 | 0:05:47
And he consents to the crucial plan, | 0:05:47 | 0:05:49
the plan that cannot fail. | 0:05:49 | 0:05:51
Later on at the orphanage door, Bandulu is crowned head cook, | 0:05:51 | 0:05:56
on condition he ends his thieving ways, | 0:05:56 | 0:05:59
and he gives up his life as a crook. | 0:05:59 | 0:06:01
Bandulu teaches the orphans to bake, in a patient, happy way. | 0:06:01 | 0:06:05
The mice teach Bandulu how to love, through their laughter and play. | 0:06:05 | 0:06:10
Easy Crew, come in, come in! Are you reading me? | 0:06:10 | 0:06:13
A message from the President. Listen up you three! | 0:06:13 | 0:06:17
Rastamouse, come in, come in, | 0:06:17 | 0:06:19
love your crucial plan! | 0:06:19 | 0:06:21
Thank you for a job well done, | 0:06:21 | 0:06:23
or as you would say, irie, man! | 0:06:23 | 0:06:26
Rastamouse always catches the t'ief, | 0:06:30 | 0:06:33
when he's taken a watch or a ring. | 0:06:33 | 0:06:35
But how do you stop a t'ief from t'ieving a great big bag of bling?! | 0:06:35 | 0:06:40
Rastamouse, Scratchy and Zuma, | 0:06:42 | 0:06:45
also known as the Easy Crew, | 0:06:45 | 0:06:47
are crime-fighting special agents | 0:06:47 | 0:06:50
and a red-hot reggae band too! | 0:06:50 | 0:06:52
Speeding through the darkness, | 0:06:52 | 0:06:54
by the light of a luminous moon, | 0:06:54 | 0:06:57
they're off to Nuff Song studio, to record their latest tune. | 0:06:57 | 0:07:02
But across the road, through the woods, | 0:07:02 | 0:07:05
on the other side of town, the orphans are getting up, | 0:07:05 | 0:07:08
when they should be settling down! | 0:07:08 | 0:07:11
Those babies should be asleep! Instead they're in a trance! | 0:07:11 | 0:07:15
Moving to an irie beat, that makes them dance. | 0:07:15 | 0:07:18
Bandulu, the chef, is up late, baking a pie. | 0:07:18 | 0:07:22
So he doesn't hear the orphans wake, | 0:07:22 | 0:07:25
or see them dancing by. | 0:07:25 | 0:07:26
Meanwhile, back at the studio, the crew are in a fix. | 0:07:30 | 0:07:33
This tune is sounding crucial but something missing from the mix. | 0:07:33 | 0:07:38
REGGAE MUSIC PLAYS | 0:07:38 | 0:07:40
As they play it back, this is what they hear. | 0:07:40 | 0:07:43
A transmission through the radio, loud and clear! | 0:07:43 | 0:07:46
Rastamouse, come in, come in. Are you reading me? | 0:07:46 | 0:07:50
Message from President Wensley Dale. Come immediately! | 0:07:50 | 0:07:55
So they kick out from the studio, with Rastamouse up front. | 0:07:55 | 0:07:59
He busts an awesome Ollie Grind, and a Double Flipside Stunt! | 0:07:59 | 0:08:04
Scratchy turns a Misty Flip, as Zuma zooms along. | 0:08:04 | 0:08:08
And soon, they're at the President's, | 0:08:08 | 0:08:11
to ask him, "What is wrong?" | 0:08:11 | 0:08:13
-Wensley Dale said -T'ings is rough. Me want you all to listen. | 0:08:13 | 0:08:18
Me got a call from the orphanage. Them baby mice gone missin'. | 0:08:18 | 0:08:22
Bandulu found this ransom note and it's the only clue. | 0:08:22 | 0:08:28
Rastamouse, me need your help. Me no know what to do. | 0:08:28 | 0:08:31
Irie, man, Just let me check that note. | 0:08:31 | 0:08:34
The crook's demands were crystal clear | 0:08:34 | 0:08:37
and THIS is what he wrote. | 0:08:37 | 0:08:39
REGGAE BEAT | 0:08:39 | 0:08:41
# Me name Baggati Baga-trouble-double-g | 0:08:41 | 0:08:44
# Me get them babies to follow me | 0:08:44 | 0:08:47
# Them like hip hop vibes wicked, rhythm live | 0:08:47 | 0:08:50
# Me get them off and HIP HOP-notised! | 0:08:50 | 0:08:53
# Me want bag of C Bag of cash, 20 Gs | 0:08:53 | 0:08:56
# If you want them orphans to be set free | 0:08:56 | 0:08:59
# Me want bag of bling Bag of t'ing | 0:08:59 | 0:09:02
# And a ride that's fit for a king | 0:09:02 | 0:09:05
# So leave the 20 Gs in the woods by the trees | 0:09:05 | 0:09:08
# And don't let nobody come and follow me | 0:09:08 | 0:09:11
# Signed... | 0:09:11 | 0:09:13
# Baggati! Blu! Blu! Blu! Blu! # | 0:09:13 | 0:09:16
Rastamouse is well impressed. | 0:09:16 | 0:09:19
Man, this brother can really rap! | 0:09:19 | 0:09:22
Let me go along with his greedy plan. | 0:09:22 | 0:09:24
Keep watch and set up a trap. | 0:09:24 | 0:09:27
So, Rastamouse collects the cash, goes home to grate some cheese, | 0:09:27 | 0:09:31
then goes to meet the Easy Crew, who are waiting by the trees. | 0:09:31 | 0:09:35
Next they hide, and wait and watch, | 0:09:35 | 0:09:38
and wait and watch until... | 0:09:38 | 0:09:40
Scratchy Ranks gets sleepy, and Zuma can't keep still! | 0:09:40 | 0:09:44
-This waiting t'ing is boring -Zuma says, | 0:09:44 | 0:09:47
then starts to play. And while the crew are watching HIM | 0:09:47 | 0:09:51
Baggatrouble slips away! | 0:09:51 | 0:09:54
-Rastamouse says -He'll not get far, that orphan t'ieving mouse. | 0:09:54 | 0:09:58
Me put something extra in him bag, that will lead we to him house. | 0:09:58 | 0:10:02
Me fix up the bag with a little hole and put in some grated cheese. | 0:10:02 | 0:10:07
Let's look for the criminal's trail, Easy Crew, follow me, please! | 0:10:07 | 0:10:12
Scratchy spots the cheesy trail, which leads them to a store. | 0:10:12 | 0:10:16
When Rastamouse steps inside to ask the manager if he saw, | 0:10:16 | 0:10:20
The one who left the cheese that's sprinkled on the floor. | 0:10:20 | 0:10:24
Me have reason to believe that mouse broke the law. | 0:10:24 | 0:10:28
-The manager says -A mouse came in, rapping to a hip hop beat, | 0:10:28 | 0:10:32
paid in cash for some trainers, then left with them on his feet. | 0:10:32 | 0:10:36
-Zuma shouts -Easy Crew, see what I have found. | 0:10:36 | 0:10:39
He inspects some footprints he's noticed on the ground. | 0:10:39 | 0:10:43
The crew pursue the villain's prints, | 0:10:43 | 0:10:46
which end up at Fat's 4x4. | 0:10:46 | 0:10:48
So Zuma asks the salesman if Baggati was here before? | 0:10:48 | 0:10:51
-He was here, -the salesman began, -He bought the latest jeep. | 0:10:51 | 0:10:56
He paid in cash from a big money sack, | 0:10:56 | 0:10:58
and you know, them jeep ain't cheap. | 0:10:58 | 0:11:01
The crew pick up the tyre track trail | 0:11:02 | 0:11:05
and follow it quickly until... | 0:11:05 | 0:11:07
It stops and disappears, at the bottom of Natty Hill. | 0:11:07 | 0:11:10
-It's a mystery -puzzles Scratchy -how come them track just stop? | 0:11:10 | 0:11:15
But wait! I hear an irie sound! | 0:11:15 | 0:11:18
Some real fly, rough hip hop! | 0:11:18 | 0:11:21
-Scratchy calls -Come help me, here, I t'ink I found Baggati! | 0:11:21 | 0:11:25
So the Easy Crew push back the rock, and this is what they see. | 0:11:25 | 0:11:30
A crowd of happy orphan mice, hip hopping in the place, | 0:11:31 | 0:11:35
screaming out for Baggati, and rocking to the bass. | 0:11:35 | 0:11:39
Rastamouse takes the mike and questions Baggati. | 0:11:39 | 0:11:43
Why you t'ief all that money, then not set them orphans free? | 0:11:43 | 0:11:47
# Me name Baggati Bagga-trouble-double-g | 0:11:47 | 0:11:50
# Me need them babies for me hard DNC | 0:11:50 | 0:11:54
# They like hip hop vibes wicked, rhythm live | 0:11:54 | 0:11:57
# Me wanna be famous, be recognised | 0:11:57 | 0:11:59
# So me got nuff bling With the bag of cash you bring | 0:11:59 | 0:12:03
# Me got the ride that's fit for a king | 0:12:03 | 0:12:05
# But it never made me happy, the bling | 0:12:05 | 0:12:08
# What really made me happy was this t'ing | 0:12:08 | 0:12:11
# To see them orphans laughing Irie, dancing free | 0:12:11 | 0:12:15
# That's the t'ing that's important to me | 0:12:15 | 0:12:18
# Signing off... | 0:12:18 | 0:12:19
# Baggati. Bru! Bru! Bru! Bru! Bru! # | 0:12:19 | 0:12:22
Rastamouse listens carefully to Baggati's wicked rhyme. | 0:12:22 | 0:12:27
He sees deep down, Bagga's heart is good, | 0:12:27 | 0:12:30
and that he's not cut out for crime. | 0:12:30 | 0:12:32
-So our hero says, -You broke the law, and you have to pay the price. | 0:12:32 | 0:12:37
You must hand back the cash and bling, | 0:12:37 | 0:12:39
and take back them baby mice. | 0:12:39 | 0:12:42
The Easy Crew will escort you, and make sure everyt'ing get fixed, | 0:12:42 | 0:12:46
while I-mouse make an important call. | 0:12:46 | 0:12:49
We'll meet at the orphanage at six. | 0:12:49 | 0:12:52
So Rastamouse calls the President, and asks him to agree, | 0:12:52 | 0:12:56
to a plan that will please the orphans, | 0:12:56 | 0:12:58
and fix up Baggati. | 0:12:58 | 0:13:00
-When they meet at six, Bandulu says, -All them baby mice been fed. | 0:13:00 | 0:13:04
Them washed and in them pyjamas but me can't get them to bed. | 0:13:04 | 0:13:08
-Rastamouse turns to Baggati. -Now this how you pay for your crime. | 0:13:08 | 0:13:13
You settle them orphans down each night, | 0:13:13 | 0:13:16
with a rap at story time. | 0:13:16 | 0:13:18
And tonight, once them babies are fast asleep, | 0:13:18 | 0:13:22
me need you to come with me. | 0:13:22 | 0:13:24
Something's missing from the Easy Crew mix | 0:13:24 | 0:13:27
and it's your vibes, Baggati. | 0:13:27 | 0:13:29
So, later that night at the studio, | 0:13:29 | 0:13:31
when the tune is nearly done, | 0:13:31 | 0:13:33
