-How do you make a monster picture?

-A monster picture, eh?

If we're going to make one of those,

the first thing we need to decide is what kind of monster to make.

So, let's put our thinking caps on!

I know, how about we make a monster that can fly!

No.

Oh. let's think again then.

Oh, I know! How about we make a monster that can dance?

No, that's weird.

-Weird?

-Yeah.

All right, well we'll think again.

Oh, I know!

How about we make a monster that can swim?

-Yes!

-Yes, great!

I've just had a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try squeezing paint and spreading it out

to make a marvellous monster picture.

BOTH: Let's make it!

But first we need somewhere to make it.

-Wow!

-And we'll also need some things from the Doodle Drawers.

Some different coloured pieces of paper...

We also need a black pen,

now where have I put that?

I know I put it somewhere...

I know, I'll call Scraps.

-Ah-ah.

-Ah, Scraps. Now, I'm looking for a black pen.

Can you help please?

BANGING, HONKING, MOOING AND HOOTING

Ah, that's more like it. Thank you, Scraps.

Ahh-ahh.

Oh, what's he like?!

Some paint in a squeezy bottle.

And we also need a glue stick and some small pieces of card.

So, Declan, this is what we're going to make today -

a picture of a magnificent monster!

-Are you ready then?

-Yep!

Good. Are you ready?

Great. Let's get making.

First we're going to put down our background paper.

Blue is nice for the sea.

Now let's get some yellow paint and squirt four blobs across the paper.

Next we need to squirt some green blobs of paint

next to the yellow blobs of paint.

All our paint blobs are on.

Now we're ready to spread out the paint

with a piece of card.

-What do you think that is?

-The monster's neck.

He's right!

What about this? Here we go...

I'm going to move it around like that in a circle shape.

-What does that make?

-His head.

His head - he's right!

It doesn't matter if the colours mix together.

In fact, it looks really good.

Let's make the rest of our monster, and that's these curved shapes here.

The curves start big

and get smaller like this.

So, let's use a clean piece of card

and make curved shapes

all the way across the page.

When you've finished your curves move them to one side,

just for now, because we're going to draw circles

onto orange and white paper with a black pen.

We're going to cut these out carefully

-because scissors are...

-Sharp!

That's right!

Here we go.

Now, our circles are all ready

and I'm actually going to put them over here, please, Declan,

so you can glue them.

Well done.

Next we need to stick on these white circles to make the monster's eyes.

Like that. And now let's take a black pen

and add dots in the middle for pupils.

Now if I use my pen to add some squiggly lines

on top of the monster's head.

There we go. There are our pen lines

and you've already glued these orange circles. Thank you.

Now all that's left is to add some ripples in the water

with a black pen. There.

It's all finished. A magnificent monster.

There are other monster pictures you could try too.

This monster's got a curly, swirly body

and three eyes.

Or you could even try this funny purple monster

with spotty tentacles.

It's a monster of a way to make a picture.

Oh, it's such a brilliant day for a lovely drive

out in the Makermobile.

-SQUAWK

-Ooh!

Minute-make time!

Hey, it's minute-make time!

I'm on my way.

SCREECH

Here we are.

It's minute-make time, everyone!

Heh-heh! Ooh!

I "nose" this is going to be good fun,

because this is a funny nose.

HOOT

To make one of these...

you will need an old egg box,

a glue stick, a sharp pencil,

a ball of modelling clay,

some elastic and a feather.

Do you think it's possible to make this funny nose

in just one minute?

ALL: No way!

I think I can. I have to be very quick though,

but don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

ALL: Yes!

Are you ready?

Great! Let's make it in a minute.

ALL: Three, two, one!

Start the clock!

The first thing we're going to do

is tear off a piece from our old egg box

and make a hole on either side

using our ball of modelling clay

and a sharp pencil.

You might want to ask an adult to help you

because it's a bit fiddly.

Put a hole in that side as well.

Get our elastic

and start feeding it through, put it in that side.

I'm going to tie it here.

There we go, on that side.

Then push it through the other side as well.

There it goes. It's quite fiddly, this.

Through it goes,

then if we tie this like that in a knot,

we're nearly done. We need glue.

There we go. Some glue on the bottom of our nose.

And I've just about got enough time

to stick on our feather to complete our funny nose.

Phew, I made it and if you've got more than a minute

you could paint it, like this. Fantastic!

There are lots of other types of noses you could try too.

Ooh! This one's got a wiggly wool moustache

and a lump of cotton wool and glue on the end.

Ooh! Or even this one.

It's a bushy fun fur beard.

Hmmm!

Ooh! Or even this grizzly green knobbly nose

with even bigger lumps and bumps.

Funny noses made in a minute.

Why don't you have a go? Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Tear the corner off an egg box

and carefully make two holes.

Tie some elastic through the holes and decorate the nose

and your funny nose is finished.

OK, everyone. We are going to make an underwater picture.

What should our picture look like?

-A fish.

-That's right.

-What colours could our fish be?

-Red.

Red fish.

-I hadn't thought of a grey fish. Well done.

Now, what could we make our sand out of?

-Cloth.

-Sponge.

-Cloth! Good idea!

What can we make our seaweed out of?

-The sea could be this.

-That could be the sea. This is great!

I think we're ready to start making,

Let's start by making a fish.

I think I'll paint a stripy fish.

We're going to make fins for our fish.

I'm making fishy lips.

I'm making fishy eyes.

I'm making fishy eyelids.

Let's make some coral for the seabed.

We're having great fun making our big underwater sea picture,

so why don't you join in and make something of your own

that lives under the sea?

Try making a fantastic fish with a plastic bottle.

Make it, play with it, have fun with it.

To make it you will need a clean plastic bottle,

a brush, glue, scissors,

some paper, a pen,

and some string.

Cut your plate into four pieces,

like this.

Stick them onto your fishy body with sticky tape.

Make sure you do both sides.

Now glue ripped-up tissue paper all over the body.

And leave it to dry.

Crumple some white tissue paper into a ball.

Then draw an eye on it with a black pen.

Now glue on your fish's eyes.

Tie some string to the handle.

And you're ready to hang up your fabulous fish.

What a fantastic way to make a fish,

but I wonder how our underwater sea picture's coming along.

Come on, everyone. Let's make some sand. That's it.

And seaweed.
