What can we make with this old wallpaper?

I don't know, what can we make with this old wallpaper?

It's a really good idea to re-use wallpaper,

but what sort of picture can we make?

I know, Theo!

How about we look inside your house to see if that gives us any ideas.

-OK.

-I'm just going to wipe my feet first.

There we go, Theo. My feet are now clean.

I don't want to leave muddy footprints in your lovely home.

Oh! Wait a minute! We don't need to go indoors.

Wiping my feet so I don't leave muddy footprints

has just given me a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try making a walking-up-the-wall picture.

It looks as if you've actually walked up a wall.

BOTH: Let's make it!

We'll need somewhere to make it.

And we'll also need some things from the Doodle Drawers.

I'll be back soon.

A sponge washing-up cloth, some scissors and some gloopy PVA glue.

Some brushes, a pen and a tray.

We also need some paint. But I can't find it anywhere.

Maybe Scraps has moved it.

Hello, Scraps. Oh! You're doing some painting!

Can we borrow some of your paint, please? Thank you.

Wonderful! Scraps, this is just the colour that we need. Thank you.

And we also need a cardboard tube.

OK, then, let's make a walking-up-the-wall picture

like this one here.

-With footprints walking across the wallpaper. Are you ready?

-Yes.

Brilliant. Are YOU ready?

Fantastic! Let's get making.

First, we're going to bring in our sponge washing-up cloth

and we're going to draw two feet.

Now we need to cut these feet shapes out.

-I need to be very careful with scissors because they are...

-Sharp.

That's right.

Here are our feet. Let's leave them there for now

because it's time to bring in our cardboard tube.

We need to cover it in gloopy glue.

There's a brush. Let's cover our tube.

That's it. Cover the whole thing.

OK, well done, Theo.

Now we can stick on our feet, like this.

When you've stuck both feet down...

..leave it to dry.

Let's put it over here for now.

We're going to bring in our tray and squeeze some paint into it.

And then spread it out with a brush.

Lovely. And now, we can pick up our tube

and we can roll it

in the tray of paint like this

so that our feet are evenly covered with paint.

Let's bring in our wallpaper. I'm going to leave this here with you.

It's time for you to roll our paint-y cardboard tube

across the wallpaper

to make a long line of footprints.

Away you go! Start rolling.

Yeah! They're real good.

Keep rolling, keep rolling. That's it.

It looks like a long line of muddy footprints walking up a wall.

And you can make all kinds of fantastic footprint pictures.

How about printing animal paw prints going across the paper

in different directions?

And you can even make different-sized dinosaur footprints

walking up and down the wallpaper.

Minute-make time!

Hey, it's minute-make time. I'm on my way!

We've arrived.

It's minute-make time, everyone!

Today, we're going to make something...

-BUZZING

-What's that? Oh, no!

There's a fly in here. Fly away!

Oh! Something scared it away.

I wonder what that was. Whoa!

Maybe it was that scary sock plant!

You can make one of these in just one minute by using...

some modelling clay, some straws,

a pipe cleaner, a glue stick,

a small flowerpot, a sock,

some sticky tape and some googly eyes.

You can find these in an arts and craft shop. I'll be back very soon.

I've got them. Here they are. Our googly eyes.

Now, do you think it's possible

to make this scary sock plant in just one minute?

ALL: No way!

Let's find out, I'm going to have to be very quick.

But don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

-Yes!

-Are you ready? Brilliant,

Let's make it in a minute.

Three, two, one! go!

The first thing we're going to do

is put the modelling clay in the pot and put it to one side.

Then we're going to curl the pipe cleaner into a curly tongue shape.

Let's get that sock. I'm going to wrap the tongue up in it like this.

Round and round it goes.

And then we're going to turn this back on itself like that

to make the head of our scary sock plant.

Put that to one side. Get a straw

and bend it like that. Then we stick it in the back here.

Fix that in place with sticky tape.

There we go. Sticky tape on there.

Bring the pot back in and put the straw into the pot like that.

Now I need some eyes. Let's put one of the eyes on there

and another eye on

using some glue, like that.

And we've made a scary sock plant!

CHEERING

I made it. A scary sock plant to scare away the bugs and flies

or just to make you smile.

If you've got more than a minute, you can add some extra straws.

Just push them into the modelling clay to make leaves.

Or you could try some other ideas.

How about this one with three scary socks? And lots of leaves.

Or you could even make a window box

with lots of brightly coloured socks in a long plant pot.

Or how about a beautiful bunch of scary socks,

using as many socks as you want.

Scary sock plants made in a minute. Why don't you try it?

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's take another look.

Push the modelling clay into a flower pot.

Curl the end of a pipe cleaner and place it at the toe of a sock.

Roll up the sock. Now fold the end of the sock back like this.

Push a bendy straw into the rolled-up end of the sock.

Tape it in place

and push the other end of the straw into the modelling clay.

Stick on googly eyes and your scary sock plant is done.

Hello. Are you ready for a big surprise?!

These mini-makers don't know I'm about to visit.

Shall we give them a big surprise?

It's lovely to meet you. Now, tell me, what's your favourite food?

-Pasta!

-Sandwiches.

-Strawberries.

They all sound like very tasty foods.

And they're going to look great in our new big snack van.

-That's what we're making today. If you'll help me, of course.

-Yes!

Fantastic! All right, then,

Ava, Chantelle, Daniel, Jake and Libby, let's make it!

Now, mini-makers, we're going to make a big snack van.

-What sort of food shall we have in our snack van?

-Burgers...

-tomato and cheese.

-Mmm. Burgers.

-What sort of food is nice to eat when it's hot?

-Ice cream.

-You can use that as the ice cream cone.

-Right.

-This is the ice cream.

-Pop it in, then.

There we go. What flavour of ice cream is this?

-Blueberry.

-Blueberry.

Excellent. How can we decorate our van?

Put pictures all around the van where there's a window.

People can come to the van and say,

"That looks nice, I'll have one of those."

-I think we're ready, aren't we?

-Yes.

Let's make it.

I'm making some burgers.

I'm making some fruit.

This is going to be our snack van.

These are the headlights.

And the wheels.

And we'll need a nice blue background.

That's it. This big surprise has been great fun so far.

Why don't you join in and make your very own mini-make?

Try making this realistic-looking burger in a bun.

It's great fun to play with.

You will need a flat sponge, round boxes and plastic lids,

tissue paper and craft foam, paint and glue, scissors,

a brush and a pen and a bowl.

First, take a flat sponge

and use a round box to draw a circle onto it, like this.

Then carefully cut it out.

Now, mix up some brown paint and water in a bowl

and dip the sponge circle into the paint-y mixture

until it's completely covered.

Give it a squeeze and put it to one side to dry.

Next, take some green tissue paper

and tear and scrunch it with your fingers like this to make lettuce.

Now paint two round boxes light brown to make the bun.

Leave them to dry.

Then glue your tissue lettuce onto one of the boxes

and stick the sponge burger on top.

Glue a square of yellow craft foam on top for cheese

and red plastic lids for tomato slices.

Then glue the other round box top on top and your burger is finished.

Wow! What a brilliant burger! It looks really tasty.

That burger would look great in our snack van.

Which reminds me, let's see how the mini-makers are getting on.
