# Make it, Mister Maker! #

0:00:380:00:40

Mister Maker!

0:00:400:00:41

Hello there. Great to see you again!

0:00:460:00:49

Do you like my new car?

0:00:490:00:50

Wahey!

0:00:500:00:52

Wow! It's good, isn't it?

0:00:520:00:54

Yeah. I've always wanted to build it some roads.

0:00:540:00:57

I've got designs. Let's have a look.

0:00:570:00:59

Em... No, I don't like that design.

0:00:590:01:02

Eh... Ah...

0:01:020:01:04

No, I don't like that one.

0:01:040:01:06

Let's have a look. Ah-ha!

0:01:060:01:09

No, I don't like that!

0:01:090:01:10

Ooh! I do like that though.

0:01:100:01:14

These torn edges have given me an idea.

0:01:150:01:18

DING!

0:01:180:01:20

Let's try something.

0:01:200:01:21

Try using torn paper to make a street

0:01:230:01:25

that reaches as far as you want it to go

0:01:250:01:28

and can have anything you want on it.

0:01:280:01:31

Let's make it!

0:01:310:01:32

We'll need things from the Doodle Drawers.

0:01:320:01:34

Coloured pages from an old magazine.

0:01:370:01:39

A square of coloured card.

0:01:430:01:46

A paintbrush!

0:01:510:01:54

And some brown paint.

0:01:580:02:01

Woo! Now to make your street,

0:02:010:02:04

like this, you first need to use your brown paint

0:02:040:02:08

and paint a thick brown stripe in the centre of your card.

0:02:080:02:14

Now this looks great on blue card.

0:02:170:02:20

But if you haven't got blue card, don't worry. You can paint it blue.

0:02:200:02:24

Take brightly coloured paper you've torn out of old magazines

0:02:300:02:34

and then tear them up some more.

0:02:340:02:37

And then sort them into piles of different colours -

0:02:460:02:50

like this.

0:02:500:02:52

Now you're ready to design your street.

0:02:540:02:57

Can you guess what I'm going to make first? Mmm.

0:02:570:03:01

Look! It's a house. Now stick on the doors and windows.

0:03:100:03:14

Let's decorate the rest of it.

0:03:200:03:23

You could make a tree. That can be made by using a strip of brown.

0:03:230:03:28

And a bigger piece of green.

0:03:340:03:36

You could decorate your street with lots more trees and grass.

0:03:420:03:47

It's a great effect, isn't it?

0:04:000:04:02

I've even put a pink pig walking down the street.

0:04:020:04:05

To make your street longer you need to make more squares.

0:04:080:04:12

You can fill your squares with anything you like.

0:04:130:04:16

Let's take a closer look.

0:04:180:04:20

Oh! Here we are.

0:04:200:04:23

Why not try making a crossroads? It looks like a road

0:04:230:04:28

that's cross-shaped!

0:04:280:04:31

Or even a curved road,

0:04:350:04:37

so all of your streets connect together.

0:04:370:04:40

You can go as far as you like. Why don't you try and make it?

0:04:450:04:49

TOOT! TOOT!

0:04:490:04:50

Ooh! Always look out for traffic.

0:04:500:04:52

I think I ought to make a torn paper zebra crossing.

0:04:520:04:56

-Time to get out of here!

-ZAP!

0:04:560:04:59

Ooh! That was close.

0:04:590:05:00

Why don't you have a go at making a torn paper road

0:05:000:05:04

as big or as small as you like?

0:05:040:05:07

-Zzzzzz!

-Who's that snoring?!

0:05:070:05:10

THEY SNORE

0:05:110:05:14

These are the Shapes!

0:05:180:05:20

-THEY SNORE

-Ah, they're asleep.

0:05:200:05:25

I've got an idea.

0:05:250:05:28

Let's wake them up!

0:05:280:05:30

Rise and shine. Come on!

0:05:350:05:38

HE SPLUTTERS

0:05:380:05:40

Oo-ahh!

0:05:440:05:47

HE GIGGLES

0:05:470:05:49

Take it away.

0:05:490:05:51

Oh! Hey! Ah!

0:05:530:05:57

Ohh!

0:05:570:05:59

-# I am a Shape

-La-la-la-lah

0:06:050:06:09

-# I am a Shape

-La-la-la-lah

0:06:090:06:12

-# I am a Shape

-La-la-la-lah

0:06:140:06:17

-# I am a Shape

-La-la-la-lah... #

0:06:190:06:21

I am a circle.

0:06:230:06:25

I am a triangle.

0:06:290:06:31

I am a square.

0:06:330:06:35

I am a rectangle.

0:06:380:06:41

I am a Shape.

0:06:430:06:45

I am a rectangle.

0:06:460:06:49

What's hiding in the rectangles?

0:06:510:06:54

Can you guess?

0:07:000:07:02

It's a giraffe!

0:07:110:07:13

Well done, Rectangle, it's time to get back on the shelf.

0:07:130:07:17

Whee! Oooh!

0:07:170:07:21

SLEEPY MUTTERING

0:07:290:07:31

I love it when those Shapes dance! It's brilliant!

0:07:310:07:35

Tocky, here!

0:07:350:07:37

Minute Make Time! Minute Make Time!

0:07:370:07:39

It's Minute Make Time. Come on!

0:07:390:07:42

Woo! Here's what we're making today.

0:07:440:07:47

It's a scouring pad butterfly.

0:07:470:07:50

Look at her. Isn't she beautiful?

0:07:500:07:53

Now to make a butterfly you'll need -

0:07:530:07:55

-a straw...

-SLURP!

0:07:550:07:58

Tasty.

0:07:580:08:00

..Some scissors,

0:08:000:08:01

three different bits of scouring pad.

0:08:010:08:04

It doesn't matter what colour they are

0:08:040:08:07

but you need one piece to be a rectangle.

0:08:070:08:10

And you'll need some sticky tape.

0:08:100:08:12

Now, do you think it's possible to make this in one minute?

0:08:120:08:18

Not a chance!

0:08:180:08:19

Really? Let's find out.

0:08:190:08:22

I'll have to be quick, but don't worry,

0:08:220:08:25

I'll remind you how to do it later. Ready?

0:08:250:08:28

Start the clock!

0:08:280:08:29

Let's go.

0:08:290:08:30

Get your rectangle-shaped scouring pad, fold it in half.

0:08:300:08:35

Then with your scissors,

0:08:350:08:36

cut out a butterfly shape like this.

0:08:360:08:39

-Be careful!

-I am! Don't worry.

0:08:390:08:42

Round we go...

0:08:420:08:45

Be careful cos scissors are sharp.

0:08:450:08:48

Round... like that.

0:08:510:08:55

OK.

0:08:550:08:56

Open it and there's a butterfly shape.

0:08:560:09:00

If we get our straw,

0:09:000:09:01

we'll make a snip in the top like this.

0:09:010:09:04

This is to make the antennae.

0:09:040:09:08

Put those apart like that and stick it in place

0:09:080:09:11

with some tape.

0:09:110:09:12

Let's give the butterfly some colour.

0:09:120:09:15

Make triangles...

0:09:150:09:17

..and a few squares as well.

0:09:190:09:22

Let's stick them on.

0:09:220:09:25

And you've got yourself a butterfly!

0:09:260:09:29

Time!

0:09:290:09:31

Thanks, Tocky. That was close.

0:09:310:09:33

But if you've got more than a minute,

0:09:330:09:36

you could stick your pieces down with glue.

0:09:360:09:39

You could make different coloured butterflies and even some bugs.

0:09:390:09:43

Why not try making different bugs - like a ladybird or a tropical bug?

0:09:430:09:48

A scouring-pad straw butterfly

0:09:480:09:51

made in a minute.

0:09:510:09:52

Why don't you give it a go?

0:09:520:09:54

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:09:540:09:56

Let's go back and take another look.

0:09:560:09:59

Fold the scouring pad in half.

0:09:590:10:02

Carefully cut out a wing-shape.

0:10:020:10:04

Cut a snip down the straw for the butterfly's antennae,

0:10:040:10:08

stick the straw onto the wing-shape

0:10:080:10:10

and stick on different-coloured shapes

0:10:100:10:13

to your scouring-pad butterfly.

0:10:130:10:15

Try making it in a minute.

0:10:170:10:20

ALL: Hello, Mister Maker.

0:10:200:10:22

Guess what we are making today?

0:10:220:10:26

Ooh, I don't know. Hmm...

0:10:260:10:28

Let's see.

0:10:280:10:30

CHILDREN GIGGLE

0:10:300:10:33

I'm blue.

0:10:380:10:39

I'm purple.

0:10:430:10:45

I'm light blue.

0:10:500:10:52

I'm yellow.

0:10:530:10:55

I'm red.

0:11:000:11:02

I'm pink.

0:11:030:11:05

I'm peach.

0:11:110:11:12

I'm brown.

0:11:170:11:19

I'm grey.

0:11:210:11:24

ALL: It's a bowl of ice cream.

0:11:290:11:32

Well done, everyone. See you next time!

0:11:320:11:35

Now it's time to frame it!

0:11:350:11:37

Frame it.

0:11:380:11:40

Frame it!

0:11:400:11:41

Now have a look at this.

0:11:410:11:44

Here's an idea that's great fun to do,

0:11:440:11:48

and it's so good you'll be able to frame it.

0:11:480:11:51

You'll need some white, sticky PVA glue,

0:11:520:11:55

some sticky-backed plastic,

0:11:550:11:58

some coloured tissue paper

0:11:580:12:00

and a black felt-tip pen.

0:12:000:12:02

Add a bit of water to your PVA glue to make it nice and runny.

0:12:020:12:06

Then draw a picture onto a piece of paper with a black felt-tip pen.

0:12:060:12:11

Now cover your drawing with sticky-backed plastic.

0:12:130:12:16

It's a good idea to stick two corners first,

0:12:160:12:19

and then peel the backing off.

0:12:190:12:22

If you find this hard, get an adult to help you.

0:12:220:12:25

Now for the fun part.

0:12:250:12:27

Cover the picture with glue.

0:12:270:12:29

Then get some ripped up pieces of coloured tissue paper

0:12:320:12:35

and place them down onto your picture anywhere you like.

0:12:350:12:39

To make it really strong,

0:12:470:12:50

you can cover it with another layer of glue.

0:12:500:12:53

Leave it for at least a day and a night, until it's dry.

0:12:530:12:57

This looks good already,

0:12:580:13:00

but you can finish it off by redrawing the black outline

0:13:000:13:04

with your pen.

0:13:040:13:05

And now, very carefully,

0:13:050:13:07

peel off the picture from the sticky-backed plastic.

0:13:070:13:12

Why not stick this on a window, so that the light shines through it?

0:13:150:13:20

Doesn't it look fantastic?

0:13:200:13:23

What a great way of making a really clever picture.

0:13:250:13:28

Now all that's left to do is... frame it.

0:13:280:13:32

Lovely!

0:13:340:13:35

Here's another brilliant way of making a picture.

0:13:350:13:39

Watch this.

0:13:390:13:40

It's a cat on a moonlit fence.

0:14:000:14:03

Fantastic!

0:14:030:14:06

MIAOW! MIAOW!

0:14:060:14:10

I'm going to do some star-gazing.

0:14:100:14:13

OWL HOOTS

0:14:140:14:16

Now, let's have a look.

0:14:160:14:18

Oh... Ah...

0:14:180:14:20

Ooh! What's that?

0:14:200:14:24

I can't quite see.

0:14:240:14:25

I think I'm going to need a bigger telescope to take a closer look.

0:14:250:14:29

Whoo!

0:14:310:14:32

This should do it.

0:14:320:14:34

OWL HOOTS

0:14:340:14:36

Let's have another look. Ah...

0:14:360:14:39

Ooh!

0:14:390:14:41

Da-da! Da-da!

0:14:410:14:42

Hah.

0:14:420:14:44

-Uh?

-What?!

0:14:440:14:45

I think I've just seen an alien.

0:14:450:14:47

Oh! Oh!

0:14:470:14:49

Oh, no!

0:14:490:14:50

Ooh! Hang on.

0:14:500:14:52

Is he there?

0:14:520:14:53

Oh, no. No, no.

0:14:560:14:58

He's not there.

0:14:580:14:59

I must have been mistaken.

0:14:590:15:01

Phew!

0:15:010:15:03

Hmm.

0:15:030:15:04

This has given me an idea, though.

0:15:040:15:07

Let's make something.

0:15:070:15:09

A fantastic space-age city,

0:15:090:15:12

fit for friendly aliens to live in.

0:15:120:15:15

Let's make it. We'll need some things from the Doodle Drawers!

0:15:160:15:22

Some empty plastic containers.

0:15:230:15:25

You'll need to collect lots of different shapes and sizes.

0:15:250:15:30

Some paint.

0:15:310:15:33

A hideous tie.

0:15:350:15:37

Ooh, no.

0:15:370:15:39

It's not my colour.

0:15:390:15:41

And a black pen.

0:15:430:15:46

Whoo!

0:15:460:15:47

Whoa!

0:15:470:15:48

Now, to make your very own space-age city, like this one here,

0:15:480:15:54

start off by painting one of your containers with grey paint.

0:15:540:15:59

And once it's dry,

0:16:090:16:10

paint parts of the container in bright colours.

0:16:100:16:13

You can paint whatever colour you like. I'll start with orange.

0:16:130:16:18

There, that's looking good.

0:16:310:16:33

Now I'm going to add a little bit of blue.

0:16:330:16:36

There. Keep going until you've done a few parts in different colours.

0:16:530:16:58

Finish off by adding extra details

0:17:050:17:07

with a black felt-tip pen.

0:17:070:17:10

Give your building lots of windows, doors and space-age landing pads.

0:17:180:17:22

And there you have it!

0:17:260:17:28

One space-age building.

0:17:280:17:30

And you can make lots and lots of space-age buildings.

0:17:300:17:34

In fact, find and decorate as many containers as you can!

0:17:340:17:38

Whoa!

0:17:420:17:43

And the more buildings you make,

0:17:430:17:46

the bigger your space-age city will grow.

0:17:460:17:49

Wow!

0:17:490:17:51

Why don't you have a go at making a space-age city

0:17:510:17:54

fit for friendly aliens?

0:17:540:17:56

But of course, as everyone knows,

0:17:560:17:59

there's no such thing as aliens!

0:17:590:18:02

Ooh!

0:18:020:18:04

Oh...

0:18:080:18:09

Ooh.

0:18:090:18:11

Oh!

0:18:110:18:12

CREATURE BURBLES

0:18:140:18:16

What?!

0:18:160:18:18

My eyes must be playing tricks on me!

0:18:180:18:21

There's definitely no such thing as aliens.

0:18:210:18:24

Oh, yes, there is.

0:18:240:18:27

Oh, ho, ho!

0:18:270:18:29

Time to go! Time to go!

0:18:290:18:31

Oh, no! That's it for now.

0:18:310:18:33

My making time's over, but yours is just beginning. See you soon!

0:18:330:18:38

It's time to put all this stuff back in its box.

0:18:380:18:41

If you like making things, like Mister Maker, visit...

0:18:450:18:50

..for more ideas.
