Oh, hello there! Great to see you again.

Look at this.

Grandma Maker has sent me stuff for the Doodle Drawers

that she had in her attic. Let's see what's in here.

Oh, yes!

Look at that.

It's a photo of us on holiday at the seaside.

Oh, that's lovely, isn't it? What else is in here?

Right. I'd better just put all this away, very carefully.

Wah!

Sorry about that. I slipped on this bubble wrap.

Here. Bubble wrap.

This gives me a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try making this fantastic octopus picture

using a paper plate and bubble wrap.

Let's make it!

As well as bubble wrap, we'll need things from the Doodle Drawers.

A coloured paper plate.

Some yellow and white paper.

A garden gnome?

No, we don't need him. Sorry, Norman.

Some gloopy PVA glue and a glue stick.

A black pen and some sticky tapes.

And a paintbrush and some red paint. Pprrr!

Whoa!

Now to make our bubble wrap octopus,

like this one here, we need to draw two circles

that are the same size onto some white paper.

To help you, it's a good idea to draw around something,

like a sticky tape roll.

These are going to be the octopus's eyes,

so let's add pupils with a black pen.

Great!

Now we need to get our yellow paper...

and draw some circles for the octopus's spots. Ooh!

Cut all of these circles out,

but be careful because scissors are sharp.

Ooh! Ooh! Careful!

Next take a coloured paper plate, like this,

and stick your eyes and spots on.

So now we've got eyes, spots and a even a little mouth

that I've added with a black pen.

All that's missing now are the octopus's tentacles.

For the tentacles we need the bubble wrap,

but first we need to make a painty mixture.

That's going to be half gloopy glue...

..and half poster paint.

I'm going to use red paint to match my paper plate.

There, that looks about right.

Now give it a mix with a paintbrush.

Then paint this painty mixture over our bubble wrap.

It's a good idea to paint on the bobbly side.

When it's dry, like this,

you can carefully cut out eight wiggly sausage shapes.

These are gonna be the octopus's tentacles.

Now you can attach them to the back of your paper plate

with some sticky tape, but make sure the tentacles are bubbly side down.

There. Let's have a look.

Fantastic!

All that's left to do is to stick our octopus onto coloured card.

But you don't have to make an octopus.

You can make anything you like.

How about an elephant?

It's got bobbly ears and a rolled-up bobbly trunk.

Or how about this handsome fellow, with fantastic bobbly hair?

He's not a bad looking chap that one, is he?

He's got bubble wrap eyebrows. Brilliant!

Those shapes are brilliant. That was a good puzzle today...

Tocky here. Minute make time.

Hey, it's minute make time. Come on, everyone.

Here's what we'll make today.

A straw rocket.

Three, two, one, blast off!

Whoa! Look at it go!

Now to make a straw rocket, like this one here,

you will need...

a square of flame-coloured tissue paper,

a circle of tissue paper,

two triangles of coloured paper,

a glue stick and a drinking straw.

Mm, tasty.

Now do you think it's possible to make this...

in just one minute?

You're on another planet.

Ha-ha! That's true, Tocky, but I think I can do it.

I'm gonna have to be quick,

but I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

Are you ready? Let's make it in a minute. Start the clock.

The first thing is to get our square of tissue paper

and tear out the flame for our rocket.

There's a strip there.

Get one of the triangles and put some glue here,

so I can stick on our flame.

Ooh, gotta be quick, I've gotta be quick.

There we go.

Now, I'll turn this over and get the circle,

put some glue on that as well.

This is going to decorate the triangle.

-Halfway.

-Halfway already? I'm gonna run out of time!

I'm gonna put that there, the straw's in place.

Now put on plenty of glue.

Come on, glue, don't fail me now.

Put that round there and some round there.

Oh, not long now.

I need my other triangle to seal it all in place.

Ten seconds! Oh, no!

If I stick it all down, like that...

I have done it! I did it, Tocky.

Only just.

That was close, Tocky, but here it is -

my straw rocket made in a minute.

Shall we launch it? OK, here we go.

Three, two, one, we have blast off!

Whoa!

If you've got more than minute, you could make other straw rockets.

This one's a star shape with a silver trail and glitter on it.

Look at this one too.

This one's a superhero with a cape.

Super Mister Maker to the rescue.

Whoa!

Look at him go.

Why don't you blast off with a straw?

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back and take another look.

To make a straw rocket,

tear tissue paper and glue it to a paper triangle.

Turn it over and glue on a coloured paper circle.

Put glue down two edges of the other triangle.

Sandwich the straw between the two halves

and blow the straw, launching your straw rocket into the air.

Now take a look at this.

It's a brilliant sunset picture made using paint and torn paper.

It's very easy to do and makes a picture that looks so good,

you'll be able to frame it.

You will need white and black paper,

some red, orange and yellow paint and some glue.

To make a sunset picture, start by painting the top of the white paper

in red paint.

Now paint the middle of the paper in orange paint.

It's OK if the colours mix, it's all part of the effect.

Then paint the bottom of the paper in yellow paint.

Doesn't it look lovely? Just like a sunset.

Now leave it to dry.

Here's the clever bit.

Tear the black paper into shapes to go in front of your sunset.

This is going to be a mountain.

Let's stick it down with glue at the edge of the picture, like this.

Let's make one for the other side.

Here's the prickly bit.

Tear some more black paper to look like a cactus,

to put in the middle of the picture.

Stick that down as well.

You can add anything you like. How about a rock?

And some clouds?

It's a beautiful sunset.

What a fantastic picture.

All that's left to do is...

frame it.

I like making pictures out of all sorts of things, so...

let's make a picture out of...

cotton reels.

It's a fantastic rocking horse.

Now what's going on here?

I'm just having a bit of a clean up around the place.

I do like to keep things neat and tidy.

Just give a dust under here.

This makes a good sound.

Let's try the cereal one.

That's another good sound.

This gives me a musical arty idea.

A fantastic carnival shaker for you to make and shake.

Let's make it. We'll need things from the Doodle Drawers.

A cardboard crisp tube.

Colourful tissue paper.

Lots of coloured paint and a paintbrush.

A black felt-tip pen.

Some sticky tape, some scissors and a glue stick.

And some rice.

RATTLES

Whoa!

Now to make your carnival shaker,

like this one here,

first paint your cardboard crisp tube white.

This is a good tip as it makes the coloured paint

cover everything much easier later on.

Once dry, you can draw a pattern on it

with a black felt-tip pen.

How about some circles?

And how about some zigzags?

Just make sure you keep turning the crisp tube as you draw around it.

Use brightly coloured paints and get painting.

And when it's dry, it'll look something like this.

And now we can make the top of our carnival shaker look even better

by cutting up some strips of coloured tissue paper.

Be careful because scissors are sharp.

Ooh!

HE CHUCKLES

Use as many different colours of tissue paper as you like.

Gather the tissue paper strips together, like that,

twist them in the middle

and then put a bit of sticky tape around here.

There. Now we can glue this on top of our lid.

There. This looks really good, but I think we could do another one here.

Make more colourful strips in the same way and glue them down.

When the glue's dry, it looks like this. It's brilliant, isn't it?

Let's give it a go.

Oh, there's no sound.

Oh, that's right, of course. I haven't put anything inside it yet.

Let's put in...

a cup of rice.

There.

Much better!

It's a terrific carnival shaker.

And you can make other carnival shakers too.

As well as looking different, put different things inside

to create different sounds.

That's right, Mister Maker.

My shaker is decorated with squares and it's got dried peas inside it.

It sounds like this...

Ooh, my shaker is much smaller

and it's got tissue paper ribbons on both ends,

with dried macaroni pasta inside it.
