Hello, there! Great to see you again. I've just been shopping | 0:00:45 | 0:00:49
and now I need to find somewhere to pack all my stuff away. | 0:00:49 | 0:00:53
Oh, yes! Good idea, Doodle Drawers! | 0:00:53 | 0:00:56
I'll use you. It shouldn't take long to pack away. | 0:00:56 | 0:00:59
Ah... My box of eggs. | 0:01:02 | 0:01:05
Now, these are easily broken so I don't just want to throw these | 0:01:05 | 0:01:09
in the Doodle Drawers, no. | 0:01:09 | 0:01:11
I'll put these over here, out of the way, where they'll be nice and safe. | 0:01:11 | 0:01:16
That's an EGG-xcellent idea! | 0:01:16 | 0:01:19
MISTER MAKER LAUGHS | 0:01:19 | 0:01:20
DOODLE DRAWERS APPLAUD | 0:01:20 | 0:01:22
Thank you! Or some might say, it's a cracking idea! | 0:01:22 | 0:01:26
Uh-uh! | 0:01:26 | 0:01:27
Oh... Well, I thought it was funny. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:30
CRUNCH! | 0:01:30 | 0:01:31
Oh... Oh, no! My eggs! | 0:01:31 | 0:01:36
They're all cracked and broken. What am I gonna do now?! | 0:01:36 | 0:01:40
I know... I'm gonna have a great idea. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:45
Let's try something! | 0:01:46 | 0:01:47
'A cracking picture made out of colourful eggshells!' | 0:01:47 | 0:01:53
Let's make it! As well as eggs, | 0:01:53 | 0:01:55
we'll need some other things from the Doodle Drawers! | 0:01:55 | 0:01:59
Some paper. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:02
Some brightly coloured food colouring. | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
A loud hailer. | 0:02:10 | 0:02:11
LOUD: No, we don't need that! | 0:02:11 | 0:02:15
Some gloopy PVA glue. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
Some water. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:26
And a pen! | 0:02:29 | 0:02:31
Now, to make an eggshell picture, like this one here, | 0:02:32 | 0:02:36
it's a good idea to put on some old clothes as this can get a bit messy. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:41
Whoa! | 0:02:41 | 0:02:43 | |
Now we need some clean and dry eggshells, so get an adult | 0:02:43 | 0:02:46
to help you thoroughly clean the eggshells before you use them. | 0:02:46 | 0:02:51
To colour your shells, like these here, | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
you need to make a special food colouring mixture in as many colours | 0:02:54 | 0:02:59
as you want to use. Let's make red, yellow and blue. | 0:02:59 | 0:03:02
Let's drop three drops of red food colouring into a bowl, | 0:03:02 | 0:03:09
mix it in with three drops of water. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:11
Let's give it a mix... | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
Do the same for yellow and blue! | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
Now, we're going to crunch up our eggshells with the back of a spoon. | 0:03:23 | 0:03:28
Put eggshells into each of the bowls. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:35
Mix them around and the shells will change colour! | 0:03:38 | 0:03:42
It can take a while for this to happen, | 0:03:48 | 0:03:50
so while waiting, do something more interesting! | 0:03:50 | 0:03:54
Now, when all of your shells have changed colour, fish them out | 0:04:01 | 0:04:05
and let them dry on some old paper or kitchen roll. | 0:04:05 | 0:04:09
Now you're ready to make your eggshell picture. | 0:04:13 | 0:04:18
Draw a shape or pattern on your paper with a black pen. | 0:04:18 | 0:04:23
I'm going to draw a star in the middle of some squares. | 0:04:24 | 0:04:28
You can draw whatever you like! | 0:04:28 | 0:04:30
Spread a layer of gloopy glue into our picture. | 0:04:32 | 0:04:35
I'll start by gluing inside the star. | 0:04:35 | 0:04:38
Then carefully start sticking the eggshells | 0:04:40 | 0:04:43
around the edge of the star shape. | 0:04:43 | 0:04:46
Let's use the yellow shells. | 0:04:46 | 0:04:48
When you've finished, fill the rest of your shape with yellow eggshells, | 0:04:54 | 0:05:00
and don't leave any gaps! | 0:05:00 | 0:05:02
SQUELCH! | 0:05:02 | 0:05:03
Now choose another part of the picture and do the same, | 0:05:05 | 0:05:09
with glue and a different colour of eggshell. | 0:05:09 | 0:05:13
Now, how about this blue eggshell? | 0:05:14 | 0:05:16
To finish off our picture, let's use some red eggshell | 0:05:19 | 0:05:24
Doesn't it look great! | 0:05:29 | 0:05:31
If you want, you can use different colours and patterns | 0:05:31 | 0:05:35
to make sure eggshell picture! | 0:05:35 | 0:05:37
What about a stripy eggshell picture? | 0:05:37 | 0:05:40
It's made with a green stripe in the middle, | 0:05:40 | 0:05:43
and yellow and red stripes on either side! | 0:05:43 | 0:05:46
Or for something completely different like this chicken picture! | 0:05:46 | 0:05:51
It's got red feathers, a yellow beak and yellow feet. | 0:05:51 | 0:05:54
Brilliant shell pictures made from eggs! They're good! | 0:05:54 | 0:05:58
In fact, they're EGG-xtremely good! | 0:05:58 | 0:06:01
BOOING | 0:06:01 | 0:06:03
Oh, come on! That one was funny! | 0:06:03 | 0:06:06
Who's that snoring? | 0:06:06 | 0:06:09
Oh, it's the Shapes! They're asleep again. | 0:06:09 | 0:06:13
Let's wake them up! | 0:06:13 | 0:06:14
SNORING | 0:06:14 | 0:06:17
-Oh, hey! -Ah! -Yeah! | 0:06:23 | 0:06:27
ALL: Whoa! | 0:06:27 | 0:06:33
ALL: I am a shape! | 0:06:35 | 0:06:36
I am a shape! | 0:06:39 | 0:06:41
I am a circle. | 0:06:44 | 0:06:46
I am a triangle. | 0:06:49 | 0:06:51
I am a square! | 0:06:54 | 0:06:55
I am a rectangle! | 0:06:59 | 0:07:01
I am a shape! | 0:07:04 | 0:07:05
I am a triangle! | 0:07:07 | 0:07:09
'What are the triangles making?' | 0:07:11 | 0:07:14
'Can you guess what it is?' | 0:07:23 | 0:07:26
'It's a wizard! Well done, Triangle! | 0:07:28 | 0:07:32
Now it's time to get back on the shelf! | 0:07:32 | 0:07:35
ALL: Whoa! | 0:07:35 | 0:07:37
Ho ho! That was a fantastic puzzle today. How did you get on? | 0:07:45 | 0:07:49
PING! | 0:07:49 | 0:07:50 | |
Tocky here! Minute make time! | 0:07:50 | 0:07:52
Hey, it's minute make time! Come on! | 0:07:52 | 0:07:55
BELL RINGS | 0:07:56 | 0:07:58
It's minute make time and here's what we're going to make today! | 0:07:59 | 0:08:04
A book worm! | 0:08:04 | 0:08:05
A perfect fellow to mark where you are in a book, | 0:08:05 | 0:08:08
or a favourite page. | 0:08:08 | 0:08:10
To make a book worm, you will need a strip of card, | 0:08:10 | 0:08:15
some scissors, an old rubber glove, some cotton wool, | 0:08:15 | 0:08:20
a glue stick, some sticky tape and some googly eyes! | 0:08:20 | 0:08:25
No! Not these googly eyes! The sort you find in an arts and crafts shop. | 0:08:26 | 0:08:31
I'll be back in a tick. | 0:08:31 | 0:08:33
I've got them! | 0:08:36 | 0:08:37
Right... | 0:08:37 | 0:08:40
Here are our googly eyes. | 0:08:40 | 0:08:42
Now, do you think it's possible to make this... | 0:08:42 | 0:08:46
in just one minute? | 0:08:46 | 0:08:47
Not a chance! | 0:08:47 | 0:08:49
Well, let's find out. I'm gonna have to be very quick but don't worry, | 0:08:49 | 0:08:54
I'll remind you how to do it at the end. | 0:08:54 | 0:08:57
Are you ready? Great! Let's make it in a minute! | 0:08:57 | 0:09:00
Start the clock! | 0:09:00 | 0:09:02
First, we get our old rubber glove and some scissors | 0:09:02 | 0:09:05
and carefully cut off two of the fingers, like this. | 0:09:05 | 0:09:09
There we go... Very careful... | 0:09:09 | 0:09:12
Just give them a little snip. Right. Let's fill these | 0:09:12 | 0:09:16
with cotton wool. Here we go, there's a bit in that finger, | 0:09:16 | 0:09:21
and then we need a bit in this finger here... Here we go. | 0:09:21 | 0:09:25
I'll leave a bit at each end | 0:09:25 | 0:09:27
cos that's where we're gonna put this - | 0:09:27 | 0:09:30
our strip of card. If I bunch it together there | 0:09:30 | 0:09:33
and get a bit of sticky tape and stick it down, | 0:09:33 | 0:09:37
then another bit for this side. | 0:09:37 | 0:09:39
Bunch it together there. | 0:09:39 | 0:09:41
Faster, faster! | 0:09:41 | 0:09:43
Stick down, there we go! If you turn it over... Yeah, looking good! | 0:09:43 | 0:09:48
Right, I need some glue on this side, there we go. | 0:09:48 | 0:09:52
Where I put the two googly eyes - there's one... | 0:09:52 | 0:09:57
and there's two, there! I've done it! | 0:09:57 | 0:10:00
BELL RINGS AND SIREN BLASTS | 0:10:00 | 0:10:02
That was close! | 0:10:02 | 0:10:04
Phew! That WAS close. But if you've got more than a minute, | 0:10:04 | 0:10:08
you could try some other book worms! | 0:10:08 | 0:10:10
Like this one, with spots! | 0:10:10 | 0:10:13
Or this one, with glittery stripes! | 0:10:13 | 0:10:18
Or how about this one with fur! | 0:10:18 | 0:10:23
Book worms made in a minute! Why don't you try it? | 0:10:23 | 0:10:27
Here's a reminder of how to do it. | 0:10:27 | 0:10:29
'Let's go back to beginning and take another look. | 0:10:29 | 0:10:33
'Cut two fingers off a washing up glove. Stuff them with cotton wool | 0:10:34 | 0:10:39
'and stick both ends to the card. | 0:10:39 | 0:10:41
'Finally, stick on the googly eyes to finish your book worm!' | 0:10:41 | 0:10:45
Why don't you make it in a minute! | 0:10:47 | 0:10:49
ALL: Hello, Mister Maker! Guess what we're making today. | 0:10:49 | 0:10:56
Oh, I don't know. Let's find out. | 0:10:56 | 0:10:59
I'm brown! | 0:11:07 | 0:11:08
I am peach! | 0:11:12 | 0:11:14
I am red! | 0:11:23 | 0:11:25
I'm yellow! | 0:11:37 | 0:11:38
I am green! | 0:11:42 | 0:11:43
ALL: It's a pizza! | 0:11:45 | 0:11:48
Well done, everyone! See you next time. | 0:11:48 | 0:11:51
Now it's time to... | 0:11:51 | 0:11:52
Frame it! | 0:11:52 | 0:11:54
Frame it! | 0:11:55 | 0:11:57
Frame it! | 0:11:58 | 0:12:00
Now, take a look at this. | 0:12:00 | 0:12:03
What a wonderful picture of a countryside scene. | 0:12:04 | 0:12:07
It's easy and looks so good, you can frame it! | 0:12:07 | 0:12:10
You'll need some white paper, paint, coloured pencils | 0:12:10 | 0:12:16
and sticky tack. | 0:12:16 | 0:12:18
Start by stretching the sticky tack to make long, thin strips. | 0:12:18 | 0:12:23
Lay one long strip across the bottom of the paper in a wavy line. | 0:12:23 | 0:12:28
Press it down lightly so it sticks to the paper. | 0:12:28 | 0:12:31
Now, stick more strips in curved lines. | 0:12:31 | 0:12:34
These will be fields in the distance. | 0:12:34 | 0:12:37
Make three circles with the sticky tack | 0:12:37 | 0:12:40
and stick them at the top of the paper. | 0:12:40 | 0:12:42
These are the trees. | 0:12:42 | 0:12:44
Now for the paint. Paint inside the lines of our sticky tack shapes. | 0:12:44 | 0:12:49
Green looks good. This will be our grass. | 0:12:49 | 0:12:52
Let's paint the other fields and trees with different colours. | 0:12:52 | 0:12:56
Once it's dry, you can peel all the sticky tack off. | 0:12:59 | 0:13:04
Wow! It's white where the sticky tack was! | 0:13:04 | 0:13:07
Now, you can clearly see the patchwork fields. | 0:13:07 | 0:13:10
Draw lines in the fields and little Vs for grass with coloured pencils. | 0:13:10 | 0:13:16
Draw small spiral shapes... | 0:13:16 | 0:13:19
Add a fence along the top of the grass... | 0:13:19 | 0:13:23
And how about some clouds in the sky? | 0:13:23 | 0:13:26
Finish off your picture by adding tree trunks like this. | 0:13:26 | 0:13:30
You can even add a little sheep! | 0:13:30 | 0:13:32
It's a beautiful countryside scene. | 0:13:32 | 0:13:36
What a great way of making a really clever picture! | 0:13:36 | 0:13:40
Now all that's left to do is... | 0:13:40 | 0:13:43
frame it! | 0:13:43 | 0:13:44
SHEEP BLEAT | 0:13:44 | 0:13:48
THUNDER CRACKS | 0:13:50 | 0:13:51
It looks like rain... | 0:13:51 | 0:13:52
Oh, no! What horrid weather. I think I'll close the curtains, yeah. | 0:13:55 | 0:14:00
There. That's much better. | 0:14:02 | 0:14:04
THUNDER CRACKS | 0:14:04 | 0:14:06
Oh, no! We've had a power cut. | 0:14:06 | 0:14:10
Never mind. I always carry with me my trusty torch! | 0:14:10 | 0:14:15
Ooh... This is a bit spooky though, isn't it? | 0:14:16 | 0:14:19
PIANO CLANGS | 0:14:22 | 0:14:23
Argh! What was that?! | 0:14:23 | 0:14:24
Oh, it's just me standing on my keyboard. Ha! | 0:14:24 | 0:14:30
I really must learn to tidy away better, you know. | 0:14:30 | 0:14:34
Oh, brilliant! The lights are back on. | 0:14:34 | 0:14:38
And all this spookiness has given me a great idea! | 0:14:38 | 0:14:41
'Enter if you dare - a crazy, creepy castle! | 0:14:43 | 0:14:47
Ha ha ha! | 0:14:47 | 0:14:49
Let's make it! We'll need some things from the Doodle Drawers. | 0:14:49 | 0:14:53
Some kitchen roll tubes... | 0:14:56 | 0:14:58
Some spooky coloured paint... | 0:15:00 | 0:15:03
A silver pen... | 0:15:05 | 0:15:08
Some pointy ice-cream tubs... | 0:15:09 | 0:15:11
A box... | 0:15:14 | 0:15:15
And some gloopy PVA glue! | 0:15:18 | 0:15:22
Whoa! Now, to make your very own creepy castle, like this one here... | 0:15:22 | 0:15:28
EVIL LAUGHTER | 0:15:28 | 0:15:29
..First, paint your box and your two kitchen roll tubes | 0:15:29 | 0:15:33
in a nice, creepy colour. | 0:15:33 | 0:15:36
Now, you can choose whatever colour you like | 0:15:36 | 0:15:39
but I think this spooky purple will look really good. | 0:15:39 | 0:15:42
When your paint is dry, leave these pieces to one side | 0:15:47 | 0:15:51
and we can start painting our pointy ice-cream tubs. | 0:15:51 | 0:15:55
Now I think we should choose another spooky colour like this scary pink. | 0:15:55 | 0:16:01
To do that, we need to make a painty mixture | 0:16:01 | 0:16:05
that's half paint and half gloopy glue. | 0:16:05 | 0:16:08
This will help the paint stick to the tub. | 0:16:08 | 0:16:12
There we go. Give it a mix... | 0:16:13 | 0:16:15
Then paint both ice-cream tubs and leave them to dry. | 0:16:17 | 0:16:21
Now we need to glue our pieces together | 0:16:24 | 0:16:28
so let's get our box and lay it on its front like that... | 0:16:28 | 0:16:32
Then get one of the kitchen roll tubes and glue it on one side. | 0:16:32 | 0:16:43
Now, I'm gonna put this one quite high up on one side, there. | 0:16:37 | 0:16:43
The other kitchen roll tube can go on the opposite side. | 0:16:43 | 0:16:47
This one is gonna go about half way. | 0:16:47 | 0:16:51
Now we can leave this to dry. | 0:16:51 | 0:16:54
When it's all nice and dry, turn the box back over, | 0:16:55 | 0:17:00
so we can draw on some spooky windows and a spooky door. | 0:17:00 | 0:17:06
We'll need a silver pen. | 0:17:06 | 0:17:07
Now, a tall pointy arch shape like this looks good for the door. | 0:17:07 | 0:17:13
You can do smaller ones like this for the windows. | 0:17:13 | 0:17:16
Next, fill in all the windows and the door with black paint. | 0:17:19 | 0:17:24
Then, to make the castle look extra creepy, | 0:17:28 | 0:17:32
how about painting slime oozing out of the tubes? | 0:17:32 | 0:17:36
How about some slime coming out of the door and the windows too? | 0:17:36 | 0:17:41
Let's get painting! | 0:17:41 | 0:17:43
Now to finish off, put your painted ice-cream tubs on top of the tubes. | 0:17:46 | 0:17:51
