WIND HOWLS | 0:00:46 | 0:00:50
Phew! | 0:00:53 | 0:00:54 | |
Ooh, what terrible weather. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
Oh, hello. Nice to see you again. | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
Oh! It's awful out there. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:01
WIND HOWLS | 0:01:04 | 0:01:08
Oh, no! I forgot to wipe my feet. | 0:01:18 | 0:01:22
Oh, what a mess. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:24
There are leaves everywhere. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
But I tell you what, they've given me a great idea. | 0:01:26 | 0:01:30
Let's try something. | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
Try branching out with a brilliant leaf print picture. | 0:01:32 | 0:01:37
Let's make it! | 0:01:38 | 0:01:40
We'll need some other things from the doodle drawers. Come on! | 0:01:40 | 0:01:44
Some paper. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:48
Some paint. | 0:01:51 | 0:01:52
And some paintbrushes and a glue stick. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
Whoa! | 0:01:59 | 0:02:00 | |
Now, to make a leaf print picture, like this one here, | 0:02:00 | 0:02:04
take your green paper... | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
and start to paint a hedgehog's head. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
Paint a grey triangle, | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
because this makes a great snout shape. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:15
Look, I've added some black fork shapes for the feet. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:22
And blended in some brown paint to his snout. | 0:02:22 | 0:02:26
Now it's time for the fun bit. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:28
Let's put down some old paper...or newspaper, | 0:02:28 | 0:02:31
as this can get a bit messy. | 0:02:31 | 0:02:33
Now, we're going to take a leaf and turn it upside down | 0:02:33 | 0:02:38
so it's got the bumpy side facing up. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:41
And then we're going to paint some brown paint on top of it. | 0:02:41 | 0:02:45
Now, if we get some white paper | 0:02:49 | 0:02:51
and pick up our leaf very carefully, | 0:02:51 | 0:02:55
and place it paint side down. | 0:02:55 | 0:02:58
You can push very gently on top of it. | 0:02:59 | 0:03:02
And when we pick it up... | 0:03:05 | 0:03:06
..we get a leaf print. | 0:03:08 | 0:03:10
Wow, look at that! | 0:03:10 | 0:03:12
Carry on doing this, until you've covered your paper in prints. | 0:03:12 | 0:03:16
When the prints are dry, cut each leaf out. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
But be careful, because scissors are sharp. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:30
Whoo! Argh! | 0:03:30 | 0:03:31
Now we can give our hedgehog a body. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:41
We're going to stick the leaf prints with glue, | 0:03:41 | 0:03:45
but make sure all the leaves are pointing outwards | 0:03:45 | 0:03:49
to look like the hedgehog's spikes. Let's do it. | 0:03:49 | 0:03:53
Finish off with some black paint, | 0:03:59 | 0:04:01
and give your hedgehog eyes and a nose. | 0:04:01 | 0:04:04
It's Harry the hedgehog printed with the leaves he loves to play in. | 0:04:08 | 0:04:12
-Ha ha! -Keep it down, will you? I've only just woken up. | 0:04:12 | 0:04:15
Ooh, sorry, Harry. | 0:04:15 | 0:04:17
You can choose different types of leaves and try other ideas. | 0:04:17 | 0:04:21
How about a stag? | 0:04:21 | 0:04:24
It's made by painting a stag's body | 0:04:24 | 0:04:26
and printing antlers with curvy leaves. | 0:04:26 | 0:04:30
Or even a lion, which is made by painting a lion's face, | 0:04:30 | 0:04:33
and printing its mane with spiky leaves. | 0:04:33 | 0:04:36
Roar! | 0:04:36 | 0:04:38 | |
Oh! Erm...I'm sure I can hear the shapes snoring, | 0:04:38 | 0:04:41
I'd better go and wake them up, yeah. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:44
Yes, it is the shapes snoring. | 0:04:45 | 0:04:48
They're asleep again. | 0:04:48 | 0:04:49
Let's wake them up! | 0:04:50 | 0:04:52
THEY GRUNT AND GIGGLE | 0:04:52 | 0:04:56
SHAPES: Oh! Hey! Ah, yeah! | 0:05:01 | 0:05:05
SHAPES: Whoo! Oh! | 0:05:05 | 0:05:07
# I am a shape | 0:05:13 | 0:05:14
# I am a shape | 0:05:17 | 0:05:19
# I am a circle | 0:05:22 | 0:05:24
# I am a triangle | 0:05:27 | 0:05:29
# I am a square | 0:05:32 | 0:05:33
# I am a rectangle | 0:05:37 | 0:05:39
ALL: # I am a shape | 0:05:41 | 0:05:43
# I am a rectangle | 0:05:45 | 0:05:47
How many rectangles can you see? | 0:05:48 | 0:05:51
One... | 0:05:51 | 0:05:52
two... | 0:05:52 | 0:05:53
..three... | 0:05:55 | 0:05:56
four... | 0:05:56 | 0:05:57
five... | 0:05:57 | 0:05:59
six... | 0:05:59 | 0:06:01
seven... | 0:06:01 | 0:06:03
eight... | 0:06:03 | 0:06:05
nine. | 0:06:05 | 0:06:06 | |
There are nine rectangles. | 0:06:06 | 0:06:08
Well done, rectangle. It's time to get back on the shelf. | 0:06:08 | 0:06:13
SHAPES: Whee! Hee hee! | 0:06:13 | 0:06:16
SHAPES: Ha ha ha! Oh! | 0:06:16 | 0:06:18
THEY GIGGLE | 0:06:18 | 0:06:22
THEY START SNORING GENTLY | 0:06:22 | 0:06:24
Ha! That was a great puzzle today. | 0:06:24 | 0:06:27
-I got it, though. Did you...? -Tocky, here. Minute Make Time! | 0:06:27 | 0:06:31
Oh! It's Minute Make Time. Come on! | 0:06:31 | 0:06:34
Have you ever wanted to make your friends laugh? | 0:06:37 | 0:06:40
Here's a good idea. | 0:06:40 | 0:06:42
Oh! Silly springy eyes. | 0:06:42 | 0:06:45
You can buy them in a shop, | 0:06:45 | 0:06:47
or you can make your own. | 0:06:47 | 0:06:50
Now, to make these springy eyes, you will need... | 0:06:50 | 0:06:54
four strips of coloured card... | 0:06:54 | 0:06:56
two circles of card... | 0:06:56 | 0:06:58
a pair of old sunglasses... | 0:06:58 | 0:07:01
Hi, there! | 0:07:01 | 0:07:02
..a glue stick...some white stickers... | 0:07:03 | 0:07:06
a black pen...and some sticky tape. | 0:07:06 | 0:07:08
Now, do you think it's possible to make this in one minute? | 0:07:08 | 0:07:13
-You're 'aving a laugh. -Let's find out. I'll have to be quick. | 0:07:13 | 0:07:19
Don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Ready? | 0:07:19 | 0:07:23
Let's make it in a minute! Start the clock. | 0:07:23 | 0:07:26
I'm going to make a paper spring now | 0:07:26 | 0:07:28
by folding over one way with the strip, | 0:07:28 | 0:07:31
then the other way, then one way, the other way, one way, | 0:07:31 | 0:07:35
like this, over and over. There's one spring. Brilliant. | 0:07:35 | 0:07:39
I need to make another one. There we go. Let's spring into action. | 0:07:39 | 0:07:44
-Over there... -Faster! Faster! | 0:07:44 | 0:07:46
There we go, OK. Another spring. I need some glue. | 0:07:46 | 0:07:50
And put some on the end, there. | 0:07:50 | 0:07:52
And some on the end, there. Then put on my circles. | 0:07:52 | 0:07:56
Halfway there. | 0:07:56 | 0:07:58
Halfway already? Oh, no. | 0:07:58 | 0:08:00
Where are my circles? There they are. | 0:08:00 | 0:08:02
There's one...and there's two. | 0:08:02 | 0:08:05
These are going to be the eyes, so I need to get a black pen, | 0:08:05 | 0:08:09
and put a circle in the middle. There we are. There's a pupil there. | 0:08:09 | 0:08:13
And there's one there. Brilliant. | 0:08:13 | 0:08:16
I need to get a loop of sticky tape, like this, | 0:08:16 | 0:08:19
and put them on the glasses. There's one loop. | 0:08:19 | 0:08:23
Ten seconds! Oh, no, I'm running out of time. | 0:08:23 | 0:08:26
There's one eye and there's... the other one. | 0:08:26 | 0:08:30
-I've done it! -BUZZER SOUNDS | 0:08:30 | 0:08:32
Only just. | 0:08:32 | 0:08:34
If you've got more than a minute, | 0:08:34 | 0:08:36
you could make some other silly springy eyes. Oh! | 0:08:36 | 0:08:40
Very funny. It looks like I've got robot eyes. | 0:08:40 | 0:08:43
Oh! How about dizzy eye glasses? | 0:08:44 | 0:08:48
The sillier the better. | 0:08:48 | 0:08:50
Silly springy glasses. Why don't you make them in a minute? | 0:08:50 | 0:08:54
Here's a reminder of how to do it. | 0:08:54 | 0:08:56
Let's go back to the beginning and take another look. | 0:08:56 | 0:09:00
Take four coloured strips of paper | 0:09:00 | 0:09:03
and fold them together like this to make two paper springs. | 0:09:03 | 0:09:07
Glue on two coloured circles | 0:09:07 | 0:09:09
and put stickers with dots on for eyes. | 0:09:09 | 0:09:12
Then stick your springs onto your glasses | 0:09:12 | 0:09:15
to finish your silly springy eyes. | 0:09:15 | 0:09:18
Why don't you try and make it in a minute? | 0:09:19 | 0:09:23
ALL: Hello, Mister Maker! | 0:09:23 | 0:09:25
ALL: Guess what we're making today! | 0:09:25 | 0:09:28
Ooh, I don't know. Let's find out. | 0:09:28 | 0:09:31
I'm black. | 0:09:38 | 0:09:39
I'm dark blue. | 0:09:47 | 0:09:49
I'm yellow. | 0:09:50 | 0:09:52
I'm light blue. | 0:09:56 | 0:09:57
I am grey. | 0:10:11 | 0:10:13
ALL: It's a helicopter! | 0:10:18 | 0:10:20
Well done, everyone. See you next time. | 0:10:21 | 0:10:24
Now, it's time to... | 0:10:24 | 0:10:26
..frame it. | 0:10:27 | 0:10:29
Frame it. | 0:10:30 | 0:10:31
Frame it. | 0:10:32 | 0:10:33
Now, take a look at this. | 0:10:34 | 0:10:37
This is a fantastic junk robot picture. | 0:10:39 | 0:10:41
It looks so good you'll be able to frame it. | 0:10:41 | 0:10:45
You'll need some dark paper, | 0:10:47 | 0:10:49
different types of silver shiny paper, scissors, | 0:10:49 | 0:10:52
a glue stick, a pen, | 0:10:52 | 0:10:54
some glitter, | 0:10:54 | 0:10:55
fancy ribbon, and finally, a star and some stickers. | 0:10:55 | 0:10:59
To make your junk robot picture, draw a rectangle shape | 0:11:01 | 0:11:04
on some silver paper and then cut it out. | 0:11:04 | 0:11:07
This is going to be your robot's body. | 0:11:07 | 0:11:10
Place it on the dark paper, which we will use as the background. | 0:11:10 | 0:11:14
Draw a head, hands and feet, | 0:11:14 | 0:11:17
and then carefully cut them out. | 0:11:17 | 0:11:19
Now that you've got your head shape, cut it in half | 0:11:21 | 0:11:24
to give your robot a big mouth like this. | 0:11:24 | 0:11:27
Arrange the head, feet and hands | 0:11:27 | 0:11:29
roughly where you think they should go on the paper. | 0:11:29 | 0:11:33
But don't stick them down yet. | 0:11:33 | 0:11:35
You can make details for the robot's body out of shiny paper. | 0:11:35 | 0:11:39
And make robot eyes by drawing on white stickers. | 0:11:39 | 0:11:43
To make the robot's arms and legs, take your ribbon | 0:11:45 | 0:11:48
which you can twist to make a funny, curly effect. | 0:11:48 | 0:11:52
When you're happy with your robot, stick everything down. | 0:11:52 | 0:11:56
You can even add a star. | 0:11:56 | 0:11:57
Now, to make your picture out of this world, | 0:11:57 | 0:12:01
put a circle of glue in the top corner, | 0:12:01 | 0:12:03
and more along the bottom of the page, | 0:12:03 | 0:12:06
add some lines to your star, | 0:12:06 | 0:12:08
and then sprinkle some glitter all over the glue. | 0:12:08 | 0:12:11
Shake off the extra glitter and sweep it up. | 0:12:13 | 0:12:16
Look! The glittery has stuck to the glue | 0:12:16 | 0:12:19
making a fantastic junk robot picture. | 0:12:19 | 0:12:21
What a brilliant picture. | 0:12:21 | 0:12:23
Why don't you have a go? And then... | 0:12:23 | 0:12:26
..frame it. | 0:12:27 | 0:12:28
Very impressive. Now for something really special. | 0:12:29 | 0:12:33
Take a look at this. | 0:12:33 | 0:12:36
It's my magic pencil. | 0:12:37 | 0:12:39
And it can draw pictures all on its own. | 0:12:39 | 0:12:41
Watch this. | 0:12:41 | 0:12:43
Here it goes. My magic pencil. | 0:12:47 | 0:12:49
What's it up to this time? | 0:12:50 | 0:12:52
Can you guess what it's drawing? | 0:12:57 | 0:13:00
Round and round my pencil goes, what it draws no-one knows. | 0:13:01 | 0:13:05
Wow! It's a skier. Well done, magic pencil. | 0:13:07 | 0:13:10
Now, what's going on here? | 0:13:10 | 0:13:13
Ooh, it's very dark outside...and very spooky. | 0:13:16 | 0:13:22
Ooh! Talking of spooky, | 0:13:22 | 0:13:25
yesterday morning, I had a real fright. | 0:13:25 | 0:13:29
'I had just woken up after a very nice dream about chocolate cake, | 0:13:30 | 0:13:34
'when I turned over and saw something | 0:13:34 | 0:13:37
'that nearly made me jump out of my skin. | 0:13:37 | 0:13:39
'Next to my bed, I could see a funny-looking creature | 0:13:39 | 0:13:43
'with big googly eyes, flappy ears, | 0:13:43 | 0:13:45
'and mad, crazy hair. | 0:13:45 | 0:13:47
'Then I realised I was just looking in my bedside mirror | 0:13:49 | 0:13:53
'and that is was actually my googly eyes, | 0:13:53 | 0:13:55
'my big ears and my mad crazy bed hair | 0:13:55 | 0:13:59
'that I was looking at.' | 0:13:59 | 0:14:01
Ha! Ha! How could I have been so silly? | 0:14:01 | 0:14:03
But never mind, that spooky morning gave me a great idea. | 0:14:03 | 0:14:08
Let's make something. | 0:14:08 | 0:14:11
A great but gruesome jar | 0:14:11 | 0:14:13
to protect your favourite bits and pieces. | 0:14:13 | 0:14:16
Let's make it. | 0:14:16 | 0:14:17
We'll need some things from the doodle drawers. | 0:14:17 | 0:14:21
A plastic jar... | 0:14:23 | 0:14:25
..coloured paint... | 0:14:27 | 0:14:29
..a pencil and some paintbrushes. | 0:14:31 | 0:14:33
Some gloopy glue... | 0:14:36 | 0:14:37
..and a rolling pin and an old tray. | 0:14:38 | 0:14:41
Whoa! Now, we also need some air drying clay. | 0:14:42 | 0:14:46
You can get that from an art and craft shop. Back in a tick. | 0:14:46 | 0:14:50
ENGINE RUNS | 0:14:51 | 0:14:52
Here it is. There's our air drying clay. | 0:14:53 | 0:14:56
Now, to make a gruesome jar, | 0:14:56 | 0:14:59
like this one here | 0:14:59 | 0:15:00
you first need to get a ball of air drying clay. | 0:15:00 | 0:15:04
Then you roll it out onto an old tray. | 0:15:06 | 0:15:09
Let's get our rolling pin and start rolling. | 0:15:09 | 0:15:12
Make sure that you roll out enough clay | 0:15:17 | 0:15:20
so you can fit your whole hand | 0:15:20 | 0:15:22
on top of it, there. | 0:15:22 | 0:15:24
That looks about right. Now, let's get a sharp pencil. | 0:15:24 | 0:15:28
We're going to draw around our hand | 0:15:28 | 0:15:31
pushing firmly into the clay. | 0:15:31 | 0:15:34
Now, this cuts out the shape of your hand. | 0:15:34 | 0:15:39
Now, draw a bit bigger than your hand shape. | 0:15:39 | 0:15:42
So it looks even more monster-like. | 0:15:43 | 0:15:45
Look. There's our big hand shape. | 0:15:45 | 0:15:48
Now, very carefully, we need to peel away | 0:15:48 | 0:15:51
all the rest of the clay around the hand shape | 0:15:51 | 0:15:54
but be careful, you want to leave your fingers safe and sound. | 0:15:54 | 0:15:58
Don't break any off. | 0:15:58 | 0:16:00
Now get a plastic jar. | 0:16:05 | 0:16:07
And very carefully, bend the fingers of the clay | 0:16:07 | 0:16:11
around the jar. | 0:16:11 | 0:16:13
Here we go. | 0:16:13 | 0:16:14
Let's put it on. | 0:16:14 | 0:16:16
Like that. | 0:16:17 | 0:16:19
As you push it down, | 0:16:19 | 0:16:20
it looks as if the fingers are holding on to it. | 0:16:20 | 0:16:23
Now, you can give the fingers a bit of a squeeze like this | 0:16:23 | 0:16:28
to make them look even better. | 0:16:28 | 0:16:30
Then, let's put some blobs of clay | 0:16:34 | 0:16:37
onto the hand | 0:16:37 | 0:16:39
and the bony parts of the fingers. | 0:16:39 | 0:16:42
You can even squeeze the end of the fingernails | 0:16:51 | 0:16:55
to make them into spooky long nails. | 0:16:55 | 0:16:57
Keep going until you've done all your fingers, | 0:16:59 | 0:17:01
then leave it until it's nearly dry. | 0:17:01 | 0:17:04
You're now ready to paint your clay hand a spooky colour, | 0:17:06 | 0:17:10
like gruesome green | 0:17:10 | 0:17:11
or whatever you want, really. Because it's not quite dry, | 0:17:11 | 0:17:15
it's easy to take off the hand and paint underneath it as well. | 0:17:15 | 0:17:20
You can add some extra detail to your gruesome hand | 0:17:28 | 0:17:31
by painting dark green on the fingers and the rest of the hand, | 0:17:31 | 0:17:36
and black paint on the fingernails. | 0:17:36 | 0:17:39
Now, when it's nice and dry, | 0:17:39 | 0:17:41
you're ready to stick your gruesome hand on top of the lid. | 0:17:41 | 0:17:44
Let's do that with gloopy glue. | 0:17:44 | 0:17:47
Now we can cover the whole thing again | 0:17:53 | 0:17:56
in another layer of gloopy glue. | 0:17:56 | 0:17:58
This will make it extra strong. | 0:18:01 | 0:18:04
When it's all dry, you can use your gruesome jar | 0:18:06 | 0:18:09
to keep all of your gruesome stuff in. | 0:18:09 | 0:18:12
Oh! Like these toy creepy crawlies. Eek! | 0:18:13 | 0:18:17
How about a beastly hairy hand? | 0:18:18 | 0:18:21
Brown paint, and pencil scratches on the top make it look hairy. | 0:18:21 | 0:18:26
Or perhaps a bony skeleton one. | 0:18:27 | 0:18:29
This spooky skeleton's got extra lumps of clay | 0:18:29 | 0:18:33
that make it look bony. | 0:18:33 | 0:18:35
Gruesome jars. Great fun to make, and spooky too. Oh! | 0:18:35 | 0:18:41
-BOING! -Argh! -Time to go. Time to go. | 0:18:41 | 0:18:43
-Oh, Tocky, it was just you. -Ha ha ha! -Yes, very funny(!) | 0:18:43 | 0:18:47
Oh, well. It looks like my making time's over. | 0:18:47 | 0:18:50
But yours is just beginning. See you soon. | 0:18:50 | 0:18:53
It's time to put all this stuff back in its box. | 0:18:53 | 0:18:57
