That's right, Mini Makers.

We're going to have a party all about fantastic faces!

Wow! Look, Scrappz, that's your face!

Scrappz, you are as pretty as a picture. Ha-ha!

So then, Mini Makers, let's have a think about what faces look like

and make an arty party picture.

What shall we use for our picture, everybody?

-Eyes!

-Now, what can we use for eyes?

-Pom-poms!

-What about these, Mini Makers?

-Buttons!

What could we use for a nose?

-Toys!

-Toys. What else?

-Rubber.

-Well done, some fantastic ideas, Mini Makers.

Thank you, you've just given me a brilliant idea.

Let's get arty at our party

and make a funny face picture

from a plastic lid and lots of arty bits and pieces.

But first, we'll need some things from...

The Doodle Tube!

That's right!

We'll need a plastic lid...

..a glue stick...

..a teddy bear...

No, we don't need this, but look at his little face!

Aw!

And we'll also need lots of arty bits and bobs like buttons,

straws and even toys.

OK, Mini Makers, we're going to make a funny face.

Now, let's start off with a nice, clean lid like this.

But you don't have to use a clean lid.

You can use anything you like for your face,

as long as it is face-shaped.

Now, we're going to stick on lots of things to make our face.

Why don't we start off with this whistle?

Actually, this old whistle came from an old Christmas cracker

and it will make a fantastic noise. CHIRP!

Sorry, I mean NOSE.

Here we go!

Let's put some glue on it, on the back, like this.

There we go, there's our nose.

And now we need some eyes.

What shall we use for our eyes, do you think?

-Buttons!

-Buttons. Great idea.

So let's stick them down.

There we are.

Let's add some extra buttons to our eyes now

and we can add stickers for pupils.

So we put a sticker on there, like that.

Then we stick it on.

Right, stick on that other eye.

Now what else do we need?

What goes above the eyes?

Eyebrows.

Eyebrows! That's right.

These small pieces of drinking straw here work really well.

Now we've got one last thing to do.

-What is it?

-The mouth!

A mouth. And these longer pieces of straw work really well.

And now I need one more straw.

Oh, thank you, Manisha, that's lovely.

Lots and lots of lovely glue.

And then we stick it on.

And there we have a fantastic funny face!

-YES!

Brilliant! Now, you're going to make your own funny face.

This is a fantastic face, Ryan.

Now, what arty materials did you use?

I used pipe cleaners, lids, buttons, toys and straws.

Well done!

This is brilliant, my friend.

And I wonder, Ryan,

has anybody else ever used any arty ideas to do with faces?

Let's find out.

Frida Kahlo was from Mexico

and born over 100 years ago.

She loved using bright colours

and often included her pets in her paintings.

-PARROT:

-Squawk! How much longer, how much longer?

One day, Frida was racking her brains

wondering what she could paint

and then she had a brilliant idea.

That's it! I'll paint my face!

Frida believed that we should paint ourselves

if we're ever stuck for something to paint.

It was because of this that Frida became famous

for weird, wonderful and colourful paintings of her face.

She liked adding her pets,

having fun with her eyebrows

and occasionally she'd add the odd moustache.

If that wasn't crazy enough,

she'd often finish her painting with a brightly coloured frame.

In those days, it was unusual for women to be famous painters,

but Frida Kahlo's face paintings like this one

certainly made her very well-known.

Now, Sophie has made a fantastic and quite fluffy face here.

Sophie, what have you used for your hair?

Pom-poms! That's right. Have you given your face a name?

It sounds like someone's asleep at our party.

To make a face-shaped doodle...

..all you need to do is stick a shape like this rectangle

onto a piece of paper.

Now draw ovals for eyes...

..curves for eyebrows...

..and dots for pupils,

a wiggly nose...

and a big, happy mouth.

Then add ears...

..and lots of spiky hair.

Or you could try another face shape, like a circle

with round eyes...

..a round nose...

..and a heart-shaped mouth with a line through it.

Then add big curly hair!

And you could even try an animal-shaped face using a triangle.

Just draw eyes like this...

..an oval nose with a mouth joined to it

and big teeth.

Add whiskers,

ears...

and you've made a rabbit!

What a clever idea, Scrappz!

That's a really funny bunny!

And you can make any face-shaped doodles you like.
