Today I've brought my travelling fete to Kilmarnock

and I'm just off out to go meet some tiddlers.

I'm really excited because look what we've got -

beekeepers over there.

We've got craft tables full of painting.

Hey, there's loads to do everywhere.

-ALL: The Bouncy castle.

-The bouncy castle? Are you going to bounce yourself on it?

-What have you got, Katie?

-Strawberries.

-Have you brought them along for a picnic?

Now, Colin, Compo has sent us

to a place where something very special grows.

Honey bean?

Not quite, Colin, no.

It's this. This is heather.

It's lovely and purple, but I don't really think

Raymond's going to want to eat that on his toast, is he? No!

But heather does play a very important part in making honey.

-That's because of these little fellows.

-Oh, that's a bee.

These bees, Colin, are ever so busy.

Oh, yes, because inside flowers is a sweet drink called nectar.

Now, each bee, Colin, collects a teensy-weensy bit of nectar.

But working together, these bees can carry an awful lot.

When they've gathered up all the nectar they can carry,

they buzz off.

Oh, busy bee bean.

That's right.

Bees have got a nasty sting in their tails,

but if we put on special protective clothes,

we can take a closer look at them.

Woo hoo, dressing-up bean!

Yeah, you're right. Come on.

Busy bee bean!

Hey, hello there, Andrew.

Hello, Mr Bloom.

Oh, it's nice to see you.

Ha-ha, safe bean!

Hey, Colin, Andrew's the beekeeper here.

He looks after the bees' home.

It's called a beehive

and this is where all the bees bring their nectar.

Lots of bees. Hello, bees.

And the bees, they work brilliantly together, don't they, Andrew?

Some of the bees in here keep the hive nice and tidy.

And the queen is the biggest bee, isn't she?

-She is. She's a bit bigger than the others.

-You see, Colin?

The queen bee's in charge, and all the other bees collect nectar

and take it back to the queen in the hive.

Working together, the bees then turn the nectar into honey.

Lots and lots of honey!

The bees have made all of this wax and then they pack it full of honey

and then they cover it with wax

and that keeps the honey lovely and fresh.

Oh! Bee team!

Spot on, Colin. By working as a team, the bees get the job done.

So, is there anything that we can do to help?

Why don't we take some frames out of the hive

and we can spin some honey out for you to taste.

We like a challenge, don't we, Colin?

And Raymond really wanted some honey for his toast,

so this could work out well.

We met lots of bees earlier on, didn't we, Colin?

The bees collected up lots of nectar

and took it back to the queen bee in the hive.

By working together,

all the bees were able to turn the nectar into something else...

Yummy, scrummy honey.

So, I tell you, sounds like teamwork to me. What do you think?

ALL: Yeah.

Oh, yes, and it looks like it's going to be the sweetest,

most delicious honey I'm ever going to taste!

But the Wee MacGregors haven't been making honey,

they've been making a mess with those little lolly sticks.

We made monster faces with fruit.

So, you took lots of little pieces of fruit

and you turned them into something else?

and put loads of glue on one of these lollipop sticks.
