That's right, Thomas, we've got some lovely purple beetroot.

We've got some lovely pink radishes, we've got some red tomatoes.

I think we just need something green now.

-What's green that grows in the garden, Tiber?

-Er...lettuce?

Lettuce, that'd be brilliant, wouldn't it?

Because it's green, and it's leafy,

and I know where there's some green, leafy lettuce growing around here.

Shall we go and get some?

Yeah!

Well, come on, then, my LITTLE GEMS.

LETTUCE go!

Right, then, tiddlers,

-we need to find a lettuce with long, bushy leaves.

-There.

That's a big one, isn't it? What about some other ones?

I think you're right, Thomas. This one's looking nice and overgrown.

We're going to give this lettuce a haircut, all right?

But we're not going to use scissors, we're going to use our hands.

And we're not digging up the plants,

we're going to tear the leaves off and leave their bottoms in the soil.

What do you think is going to happen?

It's going to grow again.

That's right, Dylan.

Because this is a special kind of lettuce

that you can take the leaves from and it still grows back news ones.

So another time I come back and I want more salad

I can get as much as I like.

Come on, then, let's help ourselves.

Can you pick some leaves off the lettuce in front of you?

Have you got one, Thomas? Ooh, that's a crinkly one.

Tiber, have you ever given a lettuce a haircut before?

Look at all these leaves. They're coming in thick and fast now.

Well done, my little tearaways.

I think I'm going to have to bring me packed lunch tomorrow, cos look,

there's almost nothing left.

Not to worry, cos things grow back.

It's good to have a trim now and then. Right, hand inspection.

Oh! Just as I thought!

We'd best get them washed.

Come on, let's wash our hands.

We'd better rinse these lettuce leaves, too. That's all good.

Get some of that lovely lettuce and we'll pop it in the salad.

And now we've got to mix it up.

It's pink, it's hiding.

There it is! What's that?

It's a radish. Radishes are nice and pink on the outside

and white on the inside. There we have it!

It's a good job things grow back cos I can eat this every day!

Oh! It sounds like someone else is hungry.

All right, salad is going to have to wait. Come on, it's feeding time!
