Oh, look at these lovely lettuces.

They're crisp and juicy

and ready for cutting.

But we need to keep an eye out for pesky pests

that could make my lettuces poorly.

Now, who can tell me what these are?

-ALL: Magnifying glasses!

-Ten out of ten!

They're magnifying glasses. I'm going to pass these out.

One for you, one for Cameron, this one's for Gabriel,

and that's for you, Sienna.

Do you know how to use magnifying glasses?

Hold them in front of your eyes,

because magnifying glasses make things look bigger.

Perfect for spying on tiny visitors we don't want in the garden.

-What can you see, Sienna?

-A bug.

I'll tell you what, tiddlers,

that plant has got bugs, and those bugs are called greenfly.

Greenfly are bad for plants, because they make them poorly,

but they're not the only bugs in the nursery.

What else can you see?

-There's a ladybird!

-That's right, Ishta, it's a ladybird.

Now, who can tell me why ladybirds are good for plants?

Because they eat all the bugs.

That's right, Sienna, yes.

So that gives me a good idea -

if we get some ladybirds, the ladybirds will eat the bugs.

-What do you think?
