The Flutter Flower Mr Bloom's Nursery

a little gate to Mr Bloom's Nursery.

That's right. It means putting these seedlings into slightly larger pots.

Grace, can you go and get some pots out of the pot box?

-There's none.

-We're going to need three.

-There's none in there? Oh, dear, oh, dear. OK.

Um... There must be some spare pots in the nursery.

Let's go and see if we can find them. Come on, let's go.

Well, tiddlers, I'm empty-handed. How did you lot get on?

-BOTH: No.

Oh, crumbs. We'll never get started, let alone finished at this rate.

But it's all OK. I've got a secret stash of gardening equipment

that I put aside for a rainy day. Would you like to see it?

-Yeah.

Right, let's see what we've got. Um...

Oh! What's this?

-BOTH: A watering can.

-That's right, a watering can. Bit dirty.

-Oh, what's this?

-Fork.

A fork, that's right. It's my emergency fork.

What's that doing in there? That's an old sieve.

Hang on, here's what we need.

Flower pots!

There's a pot for you. Oh!

There's a pot for you there, Grace.

And one for me.

-It's all dirty inside.

-Oh, it is a bit dirty. How's yours?

-That's right - I was using these the other month

and I had to dash off to the Annual Giant Vegetable Convention.

I never got round to washing them.

-We can't use mucky pots, can we?

-BOTH: No.

Mucky pots can be full of germs.

If you try and plant a young seedling like this in a dirty pot,

oh, they can get very poorly.

-You wouldn't want to eat your breakfast out of a dirty bowl.

-No!

It's a shame.

-I should have kept them clean so they'd be ready.

-We'll clean them!

You bet your wheelbarrows we can clean them, couldn't we?

All right, you take these mucky pots and I'll nip over to Compo

and get everything to wash them.

There's some clean water. And here is some soapy water.

Let's rinse these in clean water.

Let's get our digging hands out and get some compost. Right.

We need to fill them halfway full. Halfway full there, tiddlers.

We're going to need wiggly worms.

Show me two. That's it. Up in the air!

And then we need to make a big wiggly hole in the middle.

Can you do that? Now we need our seedlings.

So there's one for you, one for you and one for me.

We need to give them a tickle.

You turn it upside down and tickle the plant into your hand, like that.

Tickle, tickle, tickle. Well done.

-What do we do with our seedlings?

-Put them in a pot.

That's right. We need to pot them on. So put them in the hole.

Digger hands out. Some more compost on top.

-Mine is full.

-Brilliant. Oh!

Thanks for helping pot these plants.

I promise when I finish with these pots

I'll make sure they're clean for next time.

Oh, goodness, is that the time? OK, pots down.

We've got to feed Compo

because there's a very special appointment in the nursery

and we cannot be late for it. Come on.

Today is the day that the beautiful flutter flower will open.

This, tiddlers, is the amazing flutter flower.

There's not many of them around.

And it only opens for a few seconds and then it closes again.

So I am going to photograph it with all of us looking our very best.

Sebastian's really been looking forward to this

so I suggest we scrub ourselves up good so we all look fancy.

Which brush should I use? This one here? That would be good.

This is a clothes brush. You can use it for getting all the bits and bobs

of fluff and dirt off your clothes.

-Here's a hairbrush.

it is almost time for our photo.

Come on, tiddlers, let's get brushing. Very nice.
