It's Lily, Mia and Jack.

Look. I'm pulling up one of my vegetables.

I need some super-strong arms.

Have you got big muscles?

Wow! They're VERY big.

-Can you help me pull up this cheeky veg?

-ALL: Yes!

We'll really have to work together.

If I hold the veggie, Lily, grab my belt. Mia, grab Lily.

Jack, you grab Mia.

-We'll pull it out the ground. Ready?

-ALL: Yeah.

One, two,

three, HEAVE!

-HE GROANS

-Are you pulling?

Are you pulling, tiddlers?

You have to pull a little bit more.

HEAVE! Woo-argh!

Wow! We did it, didn't we?

It's a grand one, this.

Who can tell me what type of veggie this is?

ALL: Beetroot!

It looks like a lovely juicy one to me.

Do any of you know what colour

a beetroot is on the inside?

ALL: Pink and purple!

Yeah! It's a purpley kind of vegetable, isn't it?

-Who would like to try some beetroots?

-ALL: Me!

First, we need to wash and cook it.

Come on, then. This way.

Right, tiddlers. Take a seat.

Now, before we wash this beetroot,

I should take the leaves off.

-There we go. Could you wash this for me?

-ALL: Yes!

-All right, then.

That's it. Pop it in the tub.

We want to make sure all the soil comes off.

Right, tiddlers. Let's see that beetroot.

That's looking a bit cleaner, isn't it?

Good work.

I think we'll need Compo's help. Can you help us, Compo?

I'll put this in Compo's cooking compartment. Wait here.

Just need to set the timer.

And there we go.

Whilst we're waiting for our beetroot to cook,

there's something I want to show you.

Did you know that in this very garden,

-there are some dragons?

-SHE GASPS

-Do you believe in dragons?

-ALL: No!

There ARE a type of dragon in this garden.

They are these flowers.

They're called "snapdragons".

Can you guess why they're called that?

BOTH: Because they snap.

That's right. Look at this.

Roar!

The flower's head is shaped like a dragon.

When you pinch it, like this, it has a little snap.

Roar!

Raaah!

THEY LAUGH

Shall we all pretend to be snapping dragons?

Rrr-Rrr-Rrr!

Raaah! Look at my sharp teeth!

Rah! Rah! Rah! Rah!

Did you know there's another dragon here?

BOTH: Dragonfly!

Dragonflies! That's right.

Has it got little wings, or big sticky-outy wings?

ALL: Big sticky-outy wings!

TOOT! TOOT!

It sounds like our beetroot's ready.

Come on! Let's go and see.

Smelling good as well.

We just need to peel it, and it's ready to eat.

See if you can get some nice big pieces off.

There we go. One peeled beetroot.

I'll chop some off here.

But always get a grown-up, cos knives can be sharp.

Yes, we're going to cut them out and stick them up

as dragony decorations.

we'll have to get something purple from somewhere else.

We could get something that will make everything else purple.

Beetroot, that's right! We could use the beetroot we pulled up outside.

I tell you what, I'll just pop out and get it.

Right, Jack. What I'd like you to do is to pop Colin's costume in there.

I've got this beetroot.

Look, it's made the bowl go all purple and, oh, look at my fingers!

They are all purple, too. So I'll put some of that in there.
