I'm Leah and you're live with Newsround. | :00:00. | :00:00.
The mystery flash that lit up the north-east | :00:00. | :00:11.
And, home time after a year in space for US astronaut Scott Kelly. | :00:12. | :00:27.
A big ball of orange light falling from the sky. | :00:28. | :00:29.
That's how people are describing the amazing event spotted in the sky | :00:30. | :00:33.
in the north-east of Scotland last night. | :00:34. | :00:35.
This is the moment a suspected meteor lit up the sky over | :00:36. | :00:47.
People from Berwickshire in the Scottish Borders to Inverness | :00:48. | :00:53.
described a white, red or blue light that swept across the skyline. | :00:54. | :00:56.
Some said they also heard a rumbling sound. | :00:57. | :00:58.
It was this big ball of orange light falling from the sky and the whole | :00:59. | :01:02.
Then the whole sky lit up with green and blue and pink. | :01:03. | :01:10.
I just saw white light cover the whole sky. | :01:11. | :01:14.
I was wondering if I was the only person who saw it. | :01:15. | :01:18.
Although it's not been confirmed yet, astronomers have said | :01:19. | :01:27.
A meteor is a rock that's come from space and entered our atmosphere. | :01:28. | :01:33.
When it's entering the atmosphere it gets really hot and that's why | :01:34. | :01:36.
A flash was seen last night and that would have been the meteor exploding | :01:37. | :01:42.
To have one glowing so brightly is unusual. | :01:43. | :01:47.
I don't know if any's been found on earth, | :01:48. | :01:49.
if so that could be really exciting from a scientific point of view | :01:50. | :01:52.
because we can collect that rock and then we can do experiments on it | :01:53. | :01:56.
in the laboratory to learn about where it's come | :01:57. | :01:58.
Next, to France where demolition teams have been taking down huts | :01:59. | :02:03.
in the Calais migrant camp known as The Jungle. | :02:04. | :02:06.
Thousands of migrants have made their homes in the camp | :02:07. | :02:10.
in the north of France after leaving places like Syria, | :02:11. | :02:14.
Afghanistan and Africa where there is fighting. | :02:15. | :02:16.
You can see the demolition teams ploughing through and actually those | :02:17. | :02:24.
teams are leaving places like this in tact. | :02:25. | :02:26.
This is the school inside The Jungle. | :02:27. | :02:29.
All these things that you can see lying around, | :02:30. | :02:31.
the toys, the teddies, the books inside, they've | :02:32. | :02:33.
Even though these children are living in these very desperate | :02:34. | :02:40.
circumstances, it's cold, it's wet, it's miserable, | :02:41. | :02:42.
they've still been coming here to learn. | :02:43. | :02:46.
The people who have been evicted from their homes have been offered | :02:47. | :02:55.
alternative accommodation - another place to stay | :02:56. | :02:57.
inside converted shipping containers. | :02:58. | :03:00.
But lots of the families here are afraid that if they go | :03:01. | :03:03.
there they'll be forced to stay in France and they don't | :03:04. | :03:06.
Most of them want to reach the UK and that's why they've been staying | :03:07. | :03:10.
here inside this camp because it's so close to the port of Calais | :03:11. | :03:13.
and they believe that this place represents their best hope | :03:14. | :03:18.
You can find out more about the migrant crisis and those | :03:19. | :03:25.
Finally, after spending an entire year in space, | :03:26. | :03:29.
astronaut Scott Kelly is returning to earth. | :03:30. | :03:31.
While on the International Space Station he's shared some fantastic | :03:32. | :03:37.
images and videos of our planet, capturing everyday life in space. | :03:38. | :03:40.
And during that time astronaut Scott Kelly has | :03:41. | :03:44.
shared his experiences online, from chilling out with his | :03:45. | :03:47.
colleagues, to fantastic views from above. | :03:48. | :03:54.
He also carried out lots of work up there, too. | :03:55. | :03:59.
Including important repairs to the ISS. | :04:00. | :04:03.
And, of course, there was always lots of time | :04:04. | :04:06.
This is Scott dressed up as a monkey. | :04:07. | :04:12.
But he's now returning home after a record-long US space flight, | :04:13. | :04:15.
handing over command of the International Space Station | :04:16. | :04:17.
It's incredibly important that we all work together to make | :04:18. | :04:25.
what is seemingly impossible, possible. | :04:26. | :04:29.
His identical twin, Mark Kelly, also an astronaut, stayed | :04:30. | :04:34.
NASA will now test them both to find out how a year of weightlessness | :04:35. | :04:40.
It's hoped they'll find out more about what it's like to travel | :04:41. | :04:45.
to Mars which would take a year of space travel. | :04:46. | :04:51.
I'm back tomorrow with more Newsround. | :04:52. | :04:59.
I will see you soon. Have a great day. Bye. | :05:00. | :05:00. |
