Hi, I'm Leah, it's Saturday and this is Newsround. | 0:00:03 | 0:00:05
Coming up: | 0:00:05 | 0:00:07
Good news for elephants as China bans ivory shops. | 0:00:07 | 0:00:11
And the panda getting into trouble for getting dirty. | 0:00:11 | 0:00:16
The day's first Premier League match between Liverpool and Everton | 0:00:24 | 0:00:27
is underway at Anfield. | 0:00:27 | 0:00:28
The home side made the best possible start, | 0:00:28 | 0:00:30
scoring this seven minutes in. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:32
Everton did hit back with a Matthew Pennington goal | 0:00:32 | 0:00:35
but it didn't last long because Philippe Coutinho scored | 0:00:35 | 0:00:38
for Liverpool and Divok Origi has just added another | 0:00:38 | 0:00:42
so it's currently 3-1. | 0:00:42 | 0:00:44
A win would pull Liverpool level with second place Tottenham, | 0:00:44 | 0:00:47
who are ten points behind leaders Chelsea. | 0:00:47 | 0:00:52
Next to tennis and Britain's Johanna Konta | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
will be hoping to continue her winning streak | 0:00:54 | 0:00:56
when she faces Caroline Wozniacki later | 0:00:56 | 0:00:59
in the Women's final at the Miami Open. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:01
She's the first British woman to ever reach the finals | 0:01:01 | 0:01:04
of the competition and having worked hard to get to the final, | 0:01:04 | 0:01:06
Konta says now is the time to enjoy. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:12
Most importantly will be probably to enjoy the occasion | 0:01:12 | 0:01:15
a little bit more. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:16
It's a great tournament to be a part of till the very end and | 0:01:16 | 0:01:20
also, it's something we worked very hard for to get | 0:01:20 | 0:01:22
opportunities like this. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:23
I get to play against an incredibly tough opponent and | 0:01:23 | 0:01:26
someone who's been around at the top of the game for so long now and | 0:01:26 | 0:01:30
so I think just overall, have good enjoyment for the challenges and, | 0:01:30 | 0:01:34
yeah, what will come. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:37
Now to the fight to save elephants. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
Over the last seven years the number of the animals in the wild | 0:01:39 | 0:01:42
has dropped by a third because of poaching. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:44
And it's all because their tusks are made of ivory. | 0:01:44 | 0:01:47
Here's Ricky with more. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:51
Thousands of shops across China sell ornaments like this | 0:01:51 | 0:01:54
which are made out of ivory. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:56
It's big business here and the items are worth a lot of money. | 0:01:56 | 0:02:00
Ivory comes from the tusks of elephants, | 0:02:00 | 0:02:03
and in Africa, many of the animals are illegally | 0:02:03 | 0:02:06
hunted for their ivory. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:08
Pressure has been put on China for years to end | 0:02:08 | 0:02:11
its part in the ivory trade. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:14
And today almost half the factories and shops | 0:02:14 | 0:02:16
that sell ivory in China have been shut down | 0:02:16 | 0:02:19
and the rest will be closed by the end of the year. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:24
China is the country with the world's largest ivory market. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:29
That's where we see the greatest demand. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:31
So this change is going make a real difference for African elephants | 0:02:31 | 0:02:36
because if we can reduce that demand, all law-abiding citizens | 0:02:36 | 0:02:40
will not be buying the ivory. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
This move won't totally end the problem as lots of ivory | 0:02:43 | 0:02:45
is bought and sold illegally, which is much harder to stop. | 0:02:45 | 0:02:49
But conservationists are glad that China is closing its ivory shops | 0:02:49 | 0:02:53
and hopes it will mean less is bought and sold in the country, | 0:02:53 | 0:02:56
saving the lives of thousands of elephants. | 0:02:56 | 0:03:01
If you want any more information on the ivory trade | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
or animal poaching then head online and check out our guide. | 0:03:04 | 0:03:10
Next, for almost three months we've been watching singers battle it out | 0:03:10 | 0:03:13
to be crowned the winner of The Voice UK. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:16
Tonight, four finalists will be on that stage | 0:03:16 | 0:03:17
fighting for your votes. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:18
Ricky's been checking out the competition. | 0:03:18 | 0:03:25
The Voice - it may have switched channels, but that hasn't stopped | 0:03:25 | 0:03:28
the talent from shining through. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:30
Wow... | 0:03:30 | 0:03:31
This year, new coaches were thrown into the mix. | 0:03:31 | 0:03:38
Jennifer Hudson, Tom came back, and this guy - Gavin Rossdale. | 0:03:38 | 0:03:42
Poor thing, he's the only one without a contestant | 0:03:42 | 0:03:45
in this weekend's final. | 0:03:45 | 0:03:48
So, let's meet 2017's finalists. | 0:03:48 | 0:03:51
For Team JHud, Jamie... | 0:03:51 | 0:03:55
And Mo. | 0:03:55 | 0:04:00
Tom Jones has this duo, called Into The Ark. | 0:04:00 | 0:04:02
Clever name! | 0:04:02 | 0:04:07
And Michelle will be singing her heart out for will.i.am. | 0:04:07 | 0:04:15
So, can the sixth series of The Voice deliver a superstar? | 0:04:15 | 0:04:18
It's not going to be easy. | 0:04:18 | 0:04:20
Recognise any of these previous winners? | 0:04:20 | 0:04:23
Well, maybe not. | 0:04:23 | 0:04:24
This year, ITV say they're doing things a bit differently. | 0:04:24 | 0:04:27
The winner won't release a new single straight away. | 0:04:27 | 0:04:29
Instead, a recording of their final performance will be available | 0:04:29 | 0:04:32
to stream and download. | 0:04:32 | 0:04:38
Then whoever wins the public vote will head into the studio to work | 0:04:38 | 0:04:42
with top producers and release an album a few weeks later. | 0:04:42 | 0:04:47
And we asked you to get in touch with who you think should win, | 0:04:47 | 0:04:50
here's just a few of your messages. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:52
First up we have Grace from Southport who says | 0:04:52 | 0:04:54
"I want Jamie to win. I love all of them!" | 0:04:54 | 0:04:57
Hope from Scotland agrees and she thinks either Jamie | 0:04:57 | 0:04:59
or Into The Ark should win. | 0:04:59 | 0:05:01
She love Jamie as he isn't afraid to show his emotions. | 0:05:01 | 0:05:06
Next to Hong Kong in Asia where the seventh International | 0:05:06 | 0:05:08
pillow fight has been held. | 0:05:08 | 0:05:10
People got stuck in and it seems this Minion | 0:05:10 | 0:05:13
got rather a lot of attention! | 0:05:13 | 0:05:15
The event is held in different cities every year and the organisers | 0:05:15 | 0:05:18
say it's a good way to let off steam and bring the community together. | 0:05:18 | 0:05:23
Finally, you've probably all been there - gone out with your mates | 0:05:23 | 0:05:26
and come home really dirty? | 0:05:26 | 0:05:27
Well, this little panda in China got in a bit of trouble | 0:05:27 | 0:05:30
with his mum after she found him covered in mud. | 0:05:30 | 0:05:32
She pulled him off the ground to give him a good shake down, | 0:05:32 | 0:05:35
but it doesn't look like it's made much difference... | 0:05:35 | 0:05:41
Before I go, Ive got to tell you, if you love animals then have a look | 0:05:41 | 0:05:45
online at our gallery of the year's best mammal photos - super cute. | 0:05:45 | 0:05:50
That's all from me, Newsround's back tomorrow. | 0:05:50 | 0:05:54
See you then. | 0:05:54 | 0:05:55
Bye. | 0:05:55 | 0:05:57 |
