So I went to meet space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock to find out	:00:46.	:00:51.
why there are so few people like her in science and	:00:52.	:00:53.
Maggie Aderin-Pocock is the expert presenter of the Sky At Night.	:00:54.	:01:06.
She is now one of the top space scientists in the country.	:01:07.	:01:10.
In our aspiration survey, children from an Asian background were more	:01:11.	:01:12.
likely to admire scientists and want to become them than	:01:13.	:01:17.
Both black and other ethnic minority students are less likely	:01:18.	:01:21.
to do scientific jobs after graduating than white students.	:01:22.	:01:27.
She has become famous for her work about space.	:01:28.	:01:33.
That is why I have come here to the Mill Hill Observatory in London	:01:34.	:01:36.
to find out how Maggie made it to space scientist.	:01:37.	:01:41.
We build instruments, machines to go into space.	:01:42.	:01:46.
We learn about the planet Earth and the universe around us.	:01:47.	:01:51.
In a survey, black students said some of their teachers did not think	:01:52.	:01:54.
You feel as if you have been written off.	:01:55.	:02:03.
When you feel written off, you act written off.	:02:04.	:02:07.
You need to find something to inspire you at school.	:02:08.	:02:11.
What do you think needs to be done in the future?	:02:12.	:02:16.
People know that black guys don't do science.	:02:17.	:02:24.
We need more black role models out there, more black scientist role	:02:25.	:02:33.
models out there to show it is quite natural to be a black scientist	:02:34.	:02:36.
Maggie wants more children from black backgrounds to look	:02:37.	:02:40.
at what she has been doing and take jobs in science.	:02:41.	:02:44.
She hopes this will inspire children to see their future in the stars.	:02:45.	:02:51.

less money, more employment or a better education and health system.	:04:45.	:04:48.
The vote will not just be about politics. " we have voters feel	:04:49.	:04:56.
about Scotland. Feel Scottish. I would not say, I am from Britain. I	:04:57.	:05:05.
would say I am from Scotland. I feel to show. It is battles like this	:05:06.	:05:11.
that have shaped Scotland 's future. It has made me feel proud to be	:05:12.	:05:16.
Scottish. Watching the battle made me a lot more proud to be Scottish.	:05:17.	:05:22.
I did not know much about Scottish history but now I know more. This	:05:23.	:05:27.
battle is one of many important moments in the country 's past. In	:05:28.	:05:31.
September, the people of Scotland will place their votes in another	:05:32.	:05:34.
event which will once again shaped the country 's future.	:05:35.	:05:37.
