They entered a competition for World Book Day and they don't	:00:39.	:00:44.
So, Library Squad, I've got a little bit of a surprise for you.	:00:45.	:00:50.

Hi, everybody, I'm Kirsten, I'm the director of World Book Day.	:01:00.	:01:02.
I've got some brilliant news for the Library Squad.	:01:03.	:01:04.
Oh, my god. How amazing is that?	:01:05.	:01:12.
I've got one more crafty surprise for this lucky bunch.	:01:13.	:01:17.
We've actually got their prize with us so close your eyes, no peeking.	:01:18.	:01:22.

It's just...speechless because we probably didn't think	:01:32.	:01:37.
we were going to win. We probably forgot about it.	:01:38.	:01:42.

I feel accomplished but I feel accomplished for everybody else,	:01:46.	:01:48.
like for teamwork, to win this ?5,000 of books is just amazing.	:01:49.	:01:53.

It's just like, there must be millions of books here.	:01:57.	:02:02.
I think it will mean a lot to the school because all of our	:02:03.	:02:09.
school loves to read and with the help of the Library Squad	:02:10.	:02:12.
and Mr Shepperton who runs it, it'll mean a lot to all	:02:13.	:02:15.
And Martin has been catching up with the Library Squad	:02:16.	:02:21.
Good morning, everyone! Happy World Book Day!	:02:22.	:02:28.
Yes, it's been 20 years since World Book Day started	:02:29.	:02:33.
and the idea was to get young kids involved in reading and enjoying	:02:34.	:02:36.
books and I tell you what, these guys know how to celebrate	:02:37.	:02:39.
World Book Day in style. Look at some of these costumes.	:02:40.	:02:42.

Now, it's a really exciting day for this school because today	:02:56.	:02:58.
is the unveiling of the brand-new library, filled with ?5,000 worth	:02:59.	:03:00.
of new books because they won the World Book Day competition.	:03:01.	:03:03.
Young kids will be celebrating World Book Day all over the country	:03:04.	:03:06.
just like this and these guys have got a pretty amazing day	:03:07.	:03:08.
at school so I'm going to let them get on with it.	:03:09.	:03:11.
More book news for you now - it's the 17th year of	:03:12.	:03:20.
Every year they look for the best new children's books of the last 12	:03:21.	:03:27.
months, and today we're pretty excited to be able	:03:28.	:03:29.
This year's Best Story goes to Podkin One-Ear.	:03:30.	:03:38.
And this year's Best Book with Facts is won by Survivors.	:03:39.	:03:40.
We're very happy to have Kieran Larwood, author	:03:41.	:03:43.
of Podkin One-Ear and David Long and Kerry	:03:44.	:03:46.
Hyndman who are author and illustrator of Survivors,	:03:47.	:03:48.
Can you tell us a little bit about your books?	:03:49.	:03:55.
Podkin One-Ear is a story about rabbits and adventure and rescue.	:03:56.	:04:07.
Survivors is several real life adventure stories over the past few	:04:08.	:04:11.
years of people who have faced incredible danger and come through.	:04:12.	:04:12.
I illustrated the stories. Kieran - where did you get	:04:13.	:04:14.
the ideas for your stories? Uihlein it all started out with some	:04:15.	:04:27.
sketches I did of rabbits. I've just finished writing the second book.	:04:28.	:04:38.
What is your favourite survival story? The girl who fell from the	:04:39.	:04:42.
plane when it blew up in midair. I remember reading it when I was 11	:04:43.	:04:47.
and it was remembering that story that persuaded me to write this	:04:48.	:04:52.
book. You have a funny story about writing one of the other ones? I'm	:04:53.	:04:59.
quite claustrophobic and writing about that I found too realistic.	:05:00.	:05:08.
Kerry - what difference do pictures make to a book?	:05:09.	:05:13.
I think they really help to bring these stories to life and help to	:05:14.	:05:18.
imagine what it was like to be there.	:05:19.	:05:20.
This award is voted for by kids - what does it mean to know	:05:21.	:05:24.
Incredible because that is who the book is for. It's the best thing	:05:25.	:05:33.
because let's is now we're doing something right. We write the books	:05:34.	:05:37.
for children and so we know we have hit the spot. It's nice to know they	:05:38.	:05:42.
like the pictures and the words and the whole package meant something to	:05:43.	:05:47.
them. It's been brilliant to have union work on news round.	:05:48.	:05:49.
