You're waking up to Newsround this Wednesday morning. On the way: Find | :00:00. | :00:08.
out how your school could be saving the number of bees in Britain. | :00:09. | :00:13.
And the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. This is Newsround. | :00:14. | :00:20.
First, there are warnings of very high levels of air pollution across | :00:21. | :00:25.
most of England and Wales over the next few days. Over the last few | :00:26. | :00:29.
days, many people have found their cars covered in a mysterious layer | :00:30. | :00:35.
of fine dust. The south of England, and parts of Wales and Northern | :00:36. | :00:38.
Ireland have all been affected and in London the fine sand floating in | :00:39. | :00:42.
the air has triggered one of the worst smogs of the year. But now | :00:43. | :00:46.
it's set to spread further. It's all to do with the Sahara desert, as BBC | :00:47. | :00:49.
weather presenter Peter Gibbs explains in this special weather | :00:50. | :00:55.
report for Newsround. This mystery dust has been reported all over the | :00:56. | :00:59.
UK at the last two or three days and it did actually come all the way | :01:00. | :01:02.
from the Sahara desert. Over the weekend we had an area of low | :01:03. | :01:08.
pressure, a storm, in the south-west of Europe which caused strong winds | :01:09. | :01:11.
to develop over the north-west of Africa where the Sahara desert is, | :01:12. | :01:16.
and it is just covered in dust and fine sand. The winds are strong | :01:17. | :01:20.
enough to pick up the dust and sand which is of a yellow colour and lift | :01:21. | :01:24.
it high into the atmosphere. It was transported by strong winds across | :01:25. | :01:30.
Spain and France, and once it reached the UK he got mixed up with | :01:31. | :01:34.
clouds, and the rain fell with the dust which brought it down to the | :01:35. | :01:38.
ground, and when the rain evaporated we were left with the dust. It | :01:39. | :01:41.
happens more often than you think that this was a particularly heavy | :01:42. | :01:48.
fall. A powerful earthquake has hit off the coast of northern Chile in | :01:49. | :01:51.
South America, triggering a tsunami alert. The quake happened overnight | :01:52. | :01:55.
and waves as high as two meters hit some areas. Tens of thousands of | :01:56. | :01:58.
people have been evacuated and a state of emergency has been | :01:59. | :02:01.
declared. Five people have been killed. These pictures of traffic | :02:02. | :02:04.
jams as people tried to leave were shown on Chilean TV. | :02:05. | :02:06.
The road safety charity Brake is calling for a 20mph speed limit | :02:07. | :02:11.
because they say it will keep kids safer on the roads. At the moment | :02:12. | :02:14.
the speed limit in most villages towns and cities is 30 miles an | :02:15. | :02:18.
hour. Some places where there are schools or lots of houses have a | :02:19. | :02:21.
20mph speed limit in place already but the charity wants this to happen | :02:22. | :02:25.
everywhere. They're heading to Parliament today to try and persuade | :02:26. | :02:28.
MPs that the slower speed limit will save lives. The go 20 campaign is | :02:29. | :02:33.
about making the streets safer for people to walk and cycle, so it's | :02:34. | :02:37.
about protecting kids walking to school, going to the park, going to | :02:38. | :02:42.
see their friends, and making sure that children and adults are not | :02:43. | :02:45.
being knocked down and hurt by drivers going too fast. Let's get | :02:46. | :02:52.
you some sport now and what could be a turnaround in Manchester United's | :02:53. | :02:55.
fortunes this season. They managed to hold the reigning Champions | :02:56. | :02:58.
Bayern Munich to a draw in the Champions League last night. Nemanja | :02:59. | :03:01.
Vidic headed David Moyes' side into the lead before Bastian | :03:02. | :03:03.
Schweinsteiger got Bayern a precious away goal. But he was later sent off | :03:04. | :03:09.
and will miss the second leg in Germany. United boss David Moyes is | :03:10. | :03:12.
still confident his side can pull off an upset next week. We will go | :03:13. | :03:19.
toe to toe with them and try to come out on top. It is a tough tie, but | :03:20. | :03:24.
we all believe we have a great chance of a competition, we really | :03:25. | :03:28.
do. Our best football has been in this competition and we note we have | :03:29. | :03:32.
to show our best football when we go to Bayern Munich next week. | :03:33. | :03:34.
Last night's other quarterfinal also ended in a 1-1 draw. An absolute | :03:35. | :03:41.
belter from Diego Ribas opened the scoring between Spanish giants | :03:42. | :03:43.
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona after nearly an hour's play. But Neymar | :03:44. | :03:47.
got one back later in the game to keep Barca in the tie. | :03:48. | :03:50.
Chelsea will face the might of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in France tonight | :03:51. | :03:53.
for their quarterfinal, against Paris St Germain. The French side | :03:54. | :03:56.
look likely to win their second league title in a row, mainly thanks | :03:57. | :03:59.
to the genius of the Swedish striker. We'll hear what Chelsea | :04:00. | :04:02.
Jose Mourinho thinks about the Zlatan threat, in our next bulletin | :04:03. | :04:04.
at 8:15am. The Heritage lottery fund will give | :04:05. | :04:18.
over ?1 million to protect the UK bee population. They help pollinate | :04:19. | :04:24.
crops that are at risk of extinction and money is being given to over 200 | :04:25. | :04:28.
schools to make their ground into Poland friendly spaces so that more | :04:29. | :04:32.
attractive to the insects. Last up, the tallest Ferris wheel in the | :04:33. | :04:36.
world has opened up in Las Vegas in America. It stands at an impressive | :04:37. | :04:40.
168 meters tall. The wheel has 28 glass pods which can each hold up to | :04:41. | :04:44.
40 people. But it won't be the tallest wheel for long. Two giant | :04:45. | :04:50.
Ferris wheels are being built, one in New York City and another in | :04:51. | :04:53.
Dubai in the Middle East. The Las Vegas High Roller is about 33 metres | :04:54. | :04:57.
taller than the London Eye. That's all from me, Newsround's back right | :04:58. | :05:00.
here in about half an hour. | :05:01. | :05:02. |
