Good afternoon guys!

0:00:060:00:07

Jenny here with your Sunday lunchtime Newsround.

0:00:070:00:08

Coming up -

0:00:080:00:10

An amazing air display...

0:00:100:00:12

The UK's tallest ever bridge!

0:00:120:00:16

First up, Wales will be smiling after a win

0:00:240:00:26

in their World Cup qualifying match against Austria.

0:00:260:00:29

A goal from 17-year-old Ben Woodburn on his first match

0:00:290:00:32

for his country gave Wales a crucial 1-0 victory.

0:00:320:00:36

It means Wales are four points off the top of their group.

0:00:360:00:40

Only the top team qualifies automatically for next

0:00:400:00:42

year's finals in Russia.

0:00:420:00:45

A record-shattering Nasa astronaut has touched down safely

0:00:450:00:48

to Earth this morning, after finishing a near

0:00:480:00:51

ten month mission to the International Space Station.

0:00:510:00:54

Peggy Whitson has racked up 665 days in space in her career,

0:00:540:01:00

more than any other American astronaut in history.

0:01:000:01:05

She's also the oldest female astronaut ever,

0:01:050:01:06

and holds the record for number of spacewalks by a woman.

0:01:060:01:11

She's done it ten times!

0:01:110:01:14

Next up, tomorrow the the Queen will officially open

0:01:140:01:16

the brand new tallest bridge in the UK.

0:01:160:01:18

Yesterday some ticket holders got the chance to walk over it,

0:01:180:01:21

without any traffic.

0:01:210:01:22

But where is it and just how big is it?

0:01:220:01:26

Here's what you need to know.

0:01:260:01:29

The Queensferry Crossing - that's the brand-new 2.7 kilometre

0:01:290:01:33

bridge over the River Forth in Scotland, linking

0:01:330:01:36

Edinburgh and Fife.

0:01:360:01:38

The Queensferry Crossing stands a massive 207 metres

0:01:380:01:43

above high tide.

0:01:430:01:44

That's as high as 48 double decker buses stacked on top of each other.

0:01:440:01:50

The steel in the bridge deck weighs 35,000 tonnes.

0:01:500:01:53

That's almost 200 Boeing 747s.

0:01:530:01:58

It has special wind shields along each side to protect traffic

0:01:580:02:00

from wind, so it can stay open even in the stormiest of conditions -

0:02:000:02:06

much needed on the windy Forth Estuary.

0:02:060:02:09

The foundation supports are sunk into the mud down to the bedrock.

0:02:090:02:13

Just one of them is as tall as the Statue of Liberty.

0:02:130:02:18

And an online ballot was held to give 50,000 people the once

0:02:180:02:21

in a lifetime chance to walk across the bridge.

0:02:210:02:24

Nearly five times that number applied.

0:02:240:02:27

Most are from Scotland and the rest of the UK,

0:02:270:02:30

but some are from the US, India and one is from Slovakia.

0:02:300:02:35

The Queen officially opens it on Monday and the day after 10,000

0:02:350:02:39

local school kids will be able to walk on the bridge too.

0:02:390:02:43

Then on Thursday next week, the Queensferry crossing

0:02:430:02:47

will open for business.

0:02:470:02:50

All summer, people have been taking part in Pride festivals,

0:02:510:02:54

which celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender

0:02:540:02:57

culture.

0:02:570:02:59

It's 50 years since it was made legal for men to be gay in England

0:02:590:03:02

and Wales, and attitudes then were very different.

0:03:020:03:05

Newsround viewer Megan went to one of Britain's biggest Pride

0:03:050:03:11

festivals to find out more.

0:03:110:03:13

I've come up to Manchester for the very first time this weekend to

0:03:130:03:16

visit Pride festival.

0:03:160:03:17

Although most people are here to celebrate and

0:03:170:03:20

have a great time I've come up for a different reason,

0:03:200:03:23

to meet my Uncle Andrew who took part in one of the very

0:03:230:03:26

first Pride rallies.

0:03:260:03:27

I want to find out what his life was like back then.

0:03:270:03:30

What was it like for you back then when you first came out?

0:03:300:03:33

It was, in one way, very lonely because I only knew one person who

0:03:330:03:40

was gay and I was already 25.

0:03:400:03:44

People hid themselves.

0:03:440:03:46

You didn't know.

0:03:460:03:48

How do did you feel coming out in society when it wasn't legalised?

0:03:480:03:53

Most of us who wanted to lead ordinarily lives were aware we

0:03:530:03:58

might end up in prison.

0:03:580:04:00

Over a thousand of us a year were being sent to prison.

0:04:000:04:04

Did anyone say anything to you?

0:04:040:04:06

I was refused a job once when they found out...

0:04:060:04:12

Well, they didn't find out I was gay, I told them I was.

0:04:120:04:15

One existing member of the staff said, I am not working in

0:04:150:04:18

the same office as somebody who is gay.

0:04:180:04:21

They withdrew the offer of a job.

0:04:210:04:24

Have people's attitudes towards being gay and the LGBT

0:04:240:04:28

community changed?

0:04:280:04:31

Yes, they have.

0:04:310:04:34

Depends where you are.

0:04:340:04:35

They haven't changed if you are in many countries

0:04:350:04:38

around the world.

0:04:380:04:39

But they have changed...

0:04:390:04:41

Britain has done very well.

0:04:410:04:43

What advice would you give to people coming out now?

0:04:430:04:46

I would say there is a warm and welcoming world out here

0:04:460:04:53

for you as you come out.

0:04:530:04:57

I'd never really heard my uncle talk about his life before.

0:04:570:05:00

It was a really lovely for me to get to know his

0:05:000:05:03

experiences and what he has been through.

0:05:030:05:07

So proud of everything he has done.

0:05:070:05:09

Next, crowds in the south of England have been wowed

0:05:110:05:13

by a spectacular display team that shoots fireworks from their planes.

0:05:130:05:17

Check this out!

0:05:170:05:21

Dancing like sparklers above the water at Bournemouth Air Festival.

0:05:210:05:25

Two pilots race, turn and dive together side-by-side, rocketing

0:05:250:05:32

fireworks through the night sky.

0:05:320:05:36

The Twister duo are one of the world's

0:05:360:05:38

first aero pyrotechnic display teams.

0:05:380:05:43

They ducked and dived, lighting up the night sky as

0:05:430:05:46

thousands of people below were thrilled by the show.

0:05:460:05:50

Newsround's back right here just after two o'clock.
