Awards are happening right now, and Ricky's there in London for us.

We bring you amazing pictures from Africa of a rare solar eclipse. This

is Newsround. First up then Radio 1's annual Teen

London's Wembley Arena. Some huge stars are performing at the

London's Wembley Arena. Some huge with the likes of Jessie J, the

mighty Rizzle Kicks and James Arthur taking to the stage, all hosted by

Radio 1's Breakfast DJ Nick Grimshaw, and guest host Rita Ora.

Ricky's in the capital reporting for Newsround, and a bit earlier he sent

us this update from the red carpet. Welcome to Wembley Arena in London.

The Radio 1 teen words are couple of hours away. Can expect performances

from Jesse J to name a few. The awards are about celebrating music,

entertainment and sport and the Internet. It will also feature three

inspiring teenagers who we will hope to hear from later. You can watch

highlights on this channel at 5:30pm.

Thanks, Ricky. Next to some pretty epic autumn weather that hit Wales

overnight. Powerful winds meant engineers had to work through the

night, to get electricity back to around 10,000 homes and businesses

there. These amazing pictures sent into the BBC show huge waves

battering the Welsh coast in Aberystwyth. Gales of up to 80 miles

per hour brought down trees and power lines across south and west

areas. Most places have their power back on now.

Astronomers and star gazers in America, Europe and parts of Africa,

are witnessing a rare type of eclipse of the sun. It's known as a

hybrid solar eclipse, which means that some parts of the world see a

total eclipse, while others see a partial one like this. These amazing

pictures from Nigeria in Africa show the partial eclipse in all its

glory. Sadly you won't be able to see the Sun covered up here in the

UK. Susan Murabana is an astronomer, she hopes that the eclipse will help

people understand the science behind it.

Most people think that the moon is eating the sun, for example, and

that is why there is darkness during the day. This is some of the

traditional stories we have had in the communities here. It is cool as

an astronomer to see these areas. Sport next and while Everton and

Tottenham are fighting it out right now for second place, possibly the

biggest footy match of the afternoon is the Wales derby! For the first

time ever in the Premier League Cardiff City and Swansea will go

head to head, at four o'clock. Cardiff boss Malky Mackay is not

pretending it's any old game. There is a lot of importance

attached to the game. The first time we have played each other in the top

level in the Barclays Premier League, and that being the case it

is very special for everyone in South Wales in terms of both

ourselves and Swansea. Here's an early contender for

weirdest goal of the season. Just 13 seconds into their game against

Southampton, Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic makes a clearance... And

scores! It's thought the wind caught the ball and looped it over the

Southampton keeper's head. It wasn't quite quick enough to beat Ledley

King's Premier League record of ten seconds, though.

Britain's best ever sailor, Sir Ben Ainslie has had a very busy year,

helping the US team produce one of sport's greatest ever comebacks to

win the America's Cup. Nel caught up with him recently to find out what's

next for the sailing superstar. What was it like to be taken on

board into the America's Cup as part of the American team and help them

to victory? As a youngster growing up I love

sailing and I still do. I had a few dreams. Maybe one day go to the

Olympic Games and when the America's Cup. For that to be a reality is a

bit unreal. It is weird. But it has been fantastic. I have been very

bit unreal. It is weird. But it has Could we ever have a

Cup? We would love to see a British

America's Cup team. The America s Cup started in Britain in 1851 with

Queen Victoria, all those years ago. The American team won the

trophy, to get back to America and renamed it the America's Cup, and we

have never seen it since. We have a very proud maritime history, and we

would love to see the America's Cup back here on British waters.

You said you won't go for gold in Rio 2016. Would you stick with that?

I said I wasn't going to raise again in the Olympics. 2012 was amazing to

have a home Olympics that was just amazing, and I will stick with that.

What advice do you have four kids who want to get involved in saving?

At the grassroots, sailing is really easy to get into. You don't need to

live near the sea. Reservoirs and rivers have sailing clubs and it's

easy to get involved. Sailing is really diverse and there are so made

challenges out there you will never get bored.

Last up, we're bringing you important beard news. The annual

world championships of facial hair are taking place in Germany, pitting

some of the finest beards and moustaches from around the world

against each other. Magnificent efforts, all.
