Hello, I'm Hayley with all today's
news including the top sporting | 0:00:12 | 0:00:15
sction from the weekend. | 0:00:15 | 0:00:16
First to the Premier League
where Manchester United beat Arsenal | 0:00:16 | 0:00:19
3-1 in a thriller last night. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:20
United's goals came
from Antonio Valencia | 0:00:20 | 0:00:23
and two by Jesse Lingard. | 0:00:23 | 0:00:24
Arsenal tried to fight back
but they were stopped by a string | 0:00:24 | 0:00:27
of outstanding saves from United
goalkeeper David de Gea. | 0:00:27 | 0:00:30
But it was a bad night
for United's Paul Pogba who was sent | 0:00:30 | 0:00:34
off for this tackle. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:40
He'll now miss the Manchester City
derby next weekend. | 0:00:40 | 0:00:45
Liverpool beat Brighton 5-1 -
Roberto Firmino scored twice - | 0:00:45 | 0:00:48
sending the reds to fourth
in the table. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:51
Everton won in Sam Allardyce's
first match in charge, | 0:00:51 | 0:00:55
beating Huddersfield 2-0 thanks
to goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson | 0:00:55 | 0:00:58
and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. | 0:00:58 | 0:01:08
Now the last thing you want
when you're exploring another | 0:01:09 | 0:01:11
planet is a flat tyre. | 0:01:11 | 0:01:12
Well, Nasa has created a new one
to help avoid this happening. | 0:01:12 | 0:01:15
These aren't just any old tyres. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:17
These are NASA's new
airless chainmail ones. | 0:01:17 | 0:01:19
They look pretty cool and they've
been designed to cope better | 0:01:19 | 0:01:23
with the wonky surfaces of other
planets like Mars. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:26
They're made from a material
which has its own memory. | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
After it's rolled over something,
it can remember its original shape. | 0:01:29 | 0:01:34
This particular material doesn't
deform like conventional materials, | 0:01:34 | 0:01:37
where in those materials,
when we put stress on them, | 0:01:37 | 0:01:40
we basically are stretching the
bonds between the atomic structures. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:45
This material has a unique
characteristic that allows it to do | 0:01:45 | 0:01:52
an atomic rearrangement,
to accommodate deformation. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
We can actually deform this
all the way down to the axle | 0:01:55 | 0:02:00
and have it return to shape. | 0:02:00 | 0:02:02
Sounds very high-tech and a bit
complicated, but essentially, | 0:02:02 | 0:02:06
what it means is even if the tyre
gets really squashed, | 0:02:06 | 0:02:10
it won't burst or break
but will bounce back. | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
That'll come in handy when it has
to drive over those big space rocks. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:16
Now that's tyre-rific! | 0:02:16 | 0:02:26
Next, if you like gymnastics
this one's for you. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:29
Two sporty sisters and their story. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:30
Hi, I'm Katie. | 0:02:30 | 0:02:31
And I'm Izzy. | 0:02:31 | 0:02:32
And you might have
guessed, we're twins. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:34
Izzy's a brilliant gymnast
and when we were younger, | 0:02:34 | 0:02:36
she used to compete at national
level on bar and beam. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:40
But she had a really bad ankle
injury a few years ago, | 0:02:40 | 0:02:42
which stopped her competing. | 0:02:42 | 0:02:44
So how did it feel when you hurt
your ankle, and you thought that | 0:02:44 | 0:02:47
you wouldn't be able
to do gymnastics again? | 0:02:47 | 0:02:49
Well, I was really disappointed
and upset, because gymnastics | 0:02:49 | 0:02:54
was everything to me and to think
that I wouldn't be able to do it | 0:02:54 | 0:02:57
again just really upset me. | 0:02:57 | 0:02:59
Was it really hard watching me? | 0:02:59 | 0:03:01
I mean, it was taking a long time
to get better and I knew | 0:03:01 | 0:03:05
I would get there eventually
but when I was waiting to be able | 0:03:05 | 0:03:08
to do things and join
in with any kind of sport | 0:03:08 | 0:03:10
again, and I was watching
you while I was coaching, | 0:03:10 | 0:03:13
it just made me really frustrated
that I couldn't just jump | 0:03:13 | 0:03:16
and jump onto the floor
and join in with you. | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
How does it make you feel being able
to do gymnastics again? | 0:03:18 | 0:03:21
It makes me feel really happy
and delighted that I can do | 0:03:21 | 0:03:24
the sport that I love and I'm
so thankful that my injury | 0:03:24 | 0:03:30
didn't stop me from doing
gymnastics altogether. | 0:03:30 | 0:03:32
This weekend, we are heading
to the London Festival of gymnastics | 0:03:32 | 0:03:35
and this will be the first time
since we were younger | 0:03:35 | 0:03:38
that we have performed together. | 0:03:38 | 0:03:40
How are you feeling
about performing at the Festival? | 0:03:40 | 0:03:42
Really excited because it's my big
performance with everybody and a bit | 0:03:42 | 0:03:48
nervous, but mostly excited
and ready to do it. | 0:03:48 | 0:03:53
It was really fun because
I haven't really done | 0:03:53 | 0:04:11
anything like that before. | 0:04:11 | 0:04:12
It was actually really exciting. | 0:04:12 | 0:04:20
Now forget texting, snapchatting | 0:04:20 | 0:04:21
or instagramming your mates. | 0:04:21 | 0:04:22
These kids in Kidderminster
are going old school... | 0:04:22 | 0:04:25
Dear dad, and to so much for your
very lovely and well-written letter. | 0:04:32 | 0:04:37
But pen to paper. These guys aren't
helped Palace at the local home for | 0:04:37 | 0:04:42
the elderly. You get to listen to
what places they've been to and what | 0:04:42 | 0:04:49
they've been doing. And stuff
they've done. You get to ask them | 0:04:49 | 0:04:55
all the questions you really want
and most the time they answer. | 0:04:55 | 0:05:00
Without Snapchat or Instagram,
they're still having fun. But what | 0:05:00 | 0:05:06
do their old pine pals think about
it? I got a letter from the school | 0:05:06 | 0:05:09
from one of your pen pals called
Tilly. Shall I read it to you? They | 0:05:09 | 0:05:16
are lovely, those kids. What was
your favourite trip? | 0:05:16 | 0:05:23
Weston-Super-Mare.
Weston-Super-Mare! Up to now, it's | 0:05:23 | 0:05:27
just been letters but just before
Christmas, they will meet in real | 0:05:27 | 0:05:31
life and be able to share their
stories face-to-face. How exciting! | 0:05:31 | 0:05:37
Finally lot of you are getting in
touch to say who you think should | 0:05:37 | 0:05:42
win tonight's X factor final. Tuck
are from Birmingham agrees she | 0:05:42 | 0:05:49
thinks blacks who will win.
Ten-year-old Lizzie from West | 0:05:49 | 0:05:53
Yorkshire says even though she likes
both acts, she once graced to win. | 0:05:53 | 0:05:57
Thanks guys, and please keep sending
in your messages. | 0:05:57 | 0:06:00 |
