It's 8:15am on Wednesday the 5th of April.

0:00:070:00:09

You're watching Newsround with me, Jenny.

0:00:090:00:11

Keep watching.

0:00:110:00:13

For one big gem, this record-breaking pink diamond.

0:00:130:00:15

And it's a small world after all.

0:00:150:00:18

The planet's landmarks built in miniature.

0:00:180:00:27

First, we're talking about this.

0:00:290:00:33

It might not look like much, but this little packet of nut paste

0:00:330:00:36

is helping to save thousands of children's lives around

0:00:360:00:38

the world right now.

0:00:380:00:39

It's helping kids who don't have enough to eat.

0:00:390:00:42

One place they are being used is South Sudan, in Africa,

0:00:420:00:45

where a famine has been declared.

0:00:450:00:46

BBC reporter Anna Foster sent us this.

0:00:460:00:50

This is a special nutrition centre where mums bring their babies

0:00:500:00:53

and just over there they are being weighed and they have a special tape

0:00:530:00:56

that goes round the baby's arm to see whether or not

0:00:560:00:59

it is malnourished.

0:00:590:01:00

This area is called Unity State.

0:01:000:01:02

It is about the size of Manchester.

0:01:020:01:04

290,000 children are severely malnourished and need serious help,

0:01:040:01:09

and they come to places like this to get it.

0:01:090:01:12

There are a lot of special things that can be given to the children

0:01:120:01:16

when they have had not enough to eat that really helps

0:01:160:01:18

improve their health.

0:01:180:01:20

Emily is from Unicef.

0:01:200:01:20

What you are holding here is something, it looks really

0:01:200:01:23

small in a packet but this can save a child's life.

0:01:230:01:27

It can.

0:01:270:01:30

This is a package of nuts, oil and milk, and essentially

0:01:300:01:34

what this does is it nourishes the baby really quickly so a child

0:01:340:01:38

will take this for about a week.

0:01:380:01:41

You can see the difference in a couple of days.

0:01:410:01:45

They put their weight back on and it completely changes their appearance.

0:01:450:01:49

It is a bit of a miracle food really.

0:01:490:01:51

Yeah.

0:01:510:01:53

This would be the same as a meal, would it?

0:01:530:01:55

Exactly.

0:01:550:01:57

They can take between one and three a day between seven and 14 days

0:01:570:02:02

and this will completely transform the children that are

0:02:020:02:06

severely malnourished.

0:02:060:02:08

This is really special stuff.

0:02:080:02:10

You can see some of the children taking it.

0:02:100:02:12

A box is about ?60.

0:02:120:02:15

Every box saves a child's life in South Sudan.

0:02:150:02:21

Thanks, Anna.

0:02:210:02:22

You can find out more about the crisis in South Sudan,

0:02:220:02:25

and why it's happening, in our guide at Newsround online.

0:02:250:02:29

In other news, it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who saved the day

0:02:290:02:32

for Manchester United at the last minute and rescued a point

0:02:320:02:35

against Everton last night.

0:02:350:02:38

He scores.

0:02:380:02:43

This 94th-minute penalty, in injury time, meant United drew 1-1,

0:02:430:02:45

following a first-half goal from Phil Jagielka.

0:02:450:02:49

The result means the Red Devils stay fifth in the table.

0:02:490:02:52

It's an amazing run of 20 matches unbeatable,

0:02:520:02:54

but too many draws at home.

0:02:540:02:56

Because of that we are in the position we are

0:02:560:02:59

because we have the spirit, the defensive organisation.

0:02:590:03:03

We build well.

0:03:030:03:06

Not today.

0:03:060:03:07

We did not create a lot today.

0:03:070:03:10

We do not score enough goals.

0:03:100:03:14

Next to a man who's set a big goal for himself,

0:03:140:03:16

to cycle around the world in 80 days.

0:03:160:03:18

Watch this.

0:03:180:03:22

If there's one thing this guy loves it's riding his bike.

0:03:220:03:26

But he's not one for a leisurely cycle, oh no, Mark Beaumont wants

0:03:260:03:30

to be in the record books.

0:03:300:03:34

In 2008, he cycled around the world in 194 days

0:03:340:03:37

and set a new world record.

0:03:370:03:40

His next adventure took him from Alaska in North America

0:03:400:03:43

to Argentina in South America.

0:03:430:03:46

And in 2015 he cycled the length of Africa from Cairo

0:03:460:03:50

to Capetown in just 42 days.

0:03:500:03:53

But nearly 10 years on from his world record,

0:03:530:03:55

it's been broken by other riders and now stands at 123 days.

0:03:550:04:01

Challenge accepted!

0:04:010:04:03

When it actually comes to the world, that 18,000 mile journey,

0:04:030:04:07

I guess my greatest concern is leg one, going from Paris

0:04:070:04:11

through to Beijing through places like Russia, Mongolia, China.

0:04:110:04:15

There is a lot which is outwith our control as a team.

0:04:150:04:19

But Mark doesn't want to just beat the existing record

0:04:190:04:22

by a couple of days, he wants to do it in 80 days.

0:04:220:04:27

It's an 18,000 mile journey, which means he'll have to bike more

0:04:270:04:30

than 200 miles each day to set the record.

0:04:300:04:34

And as a warm up he's going on a seaside trip around Britain,

0:04:340:04:37

biking around the coastline to test his endurance.

0:04:370:04:40

I need a journey like this to get myself into shape

0:04:400:04:44

so my support team know exactly what they are doing

0:04:440:04:46

in preparation for the world.

0:04:460:04:50

We are going to be trying to hold what will be sub 80 days,

0:04:500:04:54

about 240 miles a day.

0:04:540:04:55

I am also quite excited to do a big adventure on home soil.

0:04:550:04:58

If it all goes well on his warm up round Britain, Mark is planning

0:04:580:05:02

to start his round the world record attempt in July.

0:05:020:05:08

From one record-breaker to another.

0:05:080:05:11

A rare pink diamond has become the most expensive gemstone

0:05:110:05:13

ever sold in an auction.

0:05:130:05:17

The 60-carat "Pink Star" is the largest of its kind ever found.

0:05:170:05:22

It was bought for more than ?57 million in Hong Kong

0:05:220:05:24

by a jeweller called Chow Tai Fook.

0:05:240:05:27

And something else small to finish.

0:05:270:05:31

Have a look at these amazing miniature cites from around

0:05:310:05:34

the world that have been built in New York City in America.

0:05:340:05:39

Artists have spent ages making models of cites like Paris in France

0:05:390:05:42

and Moscow in Russia.

0:05:420:05:44

There are even British landmarks such as Tower Bridge or even

0:05:440:05:47

Buckingham Palace in London with the flags flying.

0:05:470:05:49

That's all from me.

0:05:490:05:53

Newsround's back on CBBC this afternoon at 4:20pm with Leah.

0:05:530:05:55

Have a brilliant day at school.

0:05:550:06:00
