See ya!

0:00:010:00:05

Happy Friday!

0:00:050:00:06

I'm Jenny, with all the top stories from around the world, live on CBBC.

0:00:060:00:09

Keep watching -

0:00:090:00:11

we meet the UK's Eurovision Song Contest singers.

0:00:110:00:18

And Andy Murray cruises in to the quarterfinals

0:00:180:00:18

of the Madrid Open.

0:00:180:00:23

First, this weekend wildlife legend Sir David Attenborough

0:00:280:00:33

will celebrate his 90th birthday.

0:00:330:00:34

He's travelled across the world, witnessed the birth of new species

0:00:340:00:37

and captured the nation with his tv programmes.

0:00:370:00:40

One person he's hugely inspired is CBBC's very own Steve Backshall,

0:00:400:00:43

who sent us this message for his idol.

0:00:430:00:48

My earliest memories of Sir David Attenborough

0:00:480:00:53

were watching his Zoo Quest series, which were quite a long time ago

0:00:530:00:57

now, and they were real expeditions.

0:00:570:01:01

I think they were my first time that I got to see unbelievable adventures

0:01:010:01:07

like that in really exotic places, and I instantly thought,

0:01:070:01:07

that is amazing.

0:01:070:01:07

That is what I want to do with my life.

0:01:070:01:11

Hello!

0:01:110:01:12

There have been so many favourite moments.

0:01:120:01:17

It is very difficult to choose any one.

0:01:170:01:17

But he has completely transformed my view

0:01:170:01:18

of the wild world.

0:01:180:01:21

These engaging chicks are so inquisitive that you only

0:01:210:01:23

have to sit down to their own level for them all to gather around

0:01:230:01:27

you to try and discover what sort of creature you are.

0:01:270:01:32

I think perhaps my very favourite would be a moment when he

0:01:320:01:35

was in South Georgia on the edge of Antarctica,

0:01:350:01:38

and he was in front of two wandering albatross as they sat on their nest,

0:01:380:01:45

going through this extraordinary ritual, this beautiful dance,

0:01:450:01:46

as they were essentially reaffirming their bonds,

0:01:460:01:49

having been apart for a year or perhaps more.

0:01:490:01:52

And now, that is even more significance to me, because I have

0:01:520:01:59

had the chance to go back there, to Bird Island, to that exact same

0:01:590:02:00

spot, and to sit, as Sir David did, behind two birds going through this

0:02:000:02:04

same unbelievable dance.

0:02:040:02:06

They will stay together for the rest of their lives.

0:02:060:02:09

And that, when you come to think of it, is very unusual.

0:02:090:02:13

So Sir David Attenborough, you have a wonderful birthday,

0:02:130:02:18

and I hope that there are many more years of your superb,

0:02:180:02:21

scintillating programmes.

0:02:210:02:22

I, for one, am definitely going to be watching.

0:02:220:02:32

Next, people are having to move again to escape

0:02:320:02:32

the wildfires in Canada.

0:02:320:02:33

Thousands of people had to leave their homes

0:02:330:02:35

when the fires started.

0:02:350:02:36

With the flames still burning strongly, there are worries people

0:02:360:02:38

could get trapped by the fires if they don't move again.

0:02:380:02:41

There are less than two weeks to go until the Eurovision Song Contest

0:02:410:02:44

takes place in Sweden.

0:02:440:02:48

This year the UK will be represented by Joe and Jake

0:02:480:02:48

with their song You're Not Alone.

0:02:480:02:50

We sent Hayley to find out how they're getting on.

0:02:500:02:54

Joe and Jake!

0:02:540:02:57

Congratulations, Joe and Jake, you are the people's choice.

0:02:570:03:04

You're off to Stockholm to represent the United Kingdom at

0:03:040:03:06

the Eurovision Song Contest.

0:03:060:03:09

Tell me about this magic musical duo.

0:03:090:03:10

How did it all begin?

0:03:100:03:15

We met on series four of The Voice.

0:03:150:03:15

Things just kicked off very easily, you know, we became friends pretty

0:03:150:03:18

much straight from the off, because we found similarities

0:03:180:03:20

in quite a few things.

0:03:200:03:21

Once the show was over, for both of us, then we started

0:03:210:03:24

meeting up as friends, and then we just thought, why don't

0:03:240:03:29

we work on things musically?

0:03:290:03:29

And then we decided to form a duo, and 12 months later we are here.

0:03:290:03:33

# I'll be your parachute...#

0:03:330:03:34

In May, you are about to take over the world

0:03:340:03:37

at the Eurovision Song Contest.

0:03:370:03:41

How are you feeling about that?

0:03:410:03:42

It's not long now.

0:03:420:03:42

It's not long at all.

0:03:420:03:42

We are excited.

0:03:420:03:43

We're obviously nervous, but we are really excited.

0:03:430:03:45

We signed up this and we are so proud to be representing the UK.

0:03:450:03:48

Just can't wait to go out there, sing our song to an audience

0:03:480:03:51

of 200 million people.

0:03:510:03:53

No pressure at all!

0:03:530:03:57

It is going to be amazing.

0:03:570:03:57

Eurovision you travel, like, all around the world,

0:03:570:03:57

you perform the song, and you really mix with thefans.

0:03:570:04:01

And obviously, that is an experienced in itself -

0:04:010:04:05

just kind of seeing how dedicated everyone is to the Eurovision

0:04:050:04:08

Song Contest, and how massive it is in some

0:04:080:04:12

countries' cultures.

0:04:120:04:12

Have you got any tips for people who are looking

0:04:120:04:14

at you and aspiring to be like you?

0:04:140:04:16

Definitely - just never to give up.

0:04:160:04:17

I mean, ifyou've got a dream, nothing is impossible, is it?

0:04:170:04:24

So you know, when me and Jake were 13, 14,

0:04:240:04:27

if someone would have told us that wewere in the position

0:04:270:04:29

we are in now,we probably would have been like,

0:04:290:04:31

no, we wouldn't be!

0:04:310:04:32

It's just a case of keep working hard.

0:04:320:04:34

If you want something enough, you've just got to

0:04:340:04:36

work for it, and one day you'll get there.

0:04:360:04:40

So Eurovision!

0:04:400:04:40

Eurovision!

0:04:400:04:41

Oh, that's brilliant!

0:04:410:04:42

Finally to tennis, and Andy Murray has reached the quarterfinals

0:04:420:04:44

of the Madrid Open, beating Frenchman Gilles Simon,

0:04:440:04:48

in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-2.

0:04:480:04:49

The defending champ and Britain's number one will now play

0:04:490:04:58

Tomas Berdych in the last eight.

0:04:580:04:58

That's all from the team for now, but we're back at 8:15am.

0:04:580:04:59

Bye!
