Good morning, it's Ricky here with Newsround for you this Sunday

We'll be opening day six of Newsround's advent calendar.

First this morning, Storm Desmond has been causing big problems

for people living in parts of the north-west of England and Scotland.

Hundreds of people were forced to leave their

homes as rivers burst their banks and flood waters rose quickly.

Around one month's worth of rainfall fell in just 24 hours.

There are still more than 50 flood warnings in place.

BBC's Fiona Trott is in Keswick in Cumbria,

Yes, good morning. This is the first time we been able to get down to the

river bank in Keswick. It was completely covered yesterday in

water. You can see the damage it has left behind, it has taken away some

of the foundations of the bridge there. Also, look, no rain for the

moment. You can see how fast the river is flowing, though, and the

debris it has left behind. Lots of branches and bits of trunk here, a

window in a monks all that debris. Move to the side here, you can see a

lot of silt from the flood water last night. If you peek over the

top, you can just see how fast the river is still flowing, underneath

that bridge as well. This morning, people out and about, walking over

that bridge, taking a look, taken photographs, they couldn't do it

last night, it was far too dangerous, but more families coming

down here. They are curious to see what Desmond left behind. Angus, you

are down here with your family. What is it like? It is just shocking, all

the debris and residue of the mud, trees, branches, it is unbelievable.

It must be sad, this is your town. Again, folks being evacuated two

times, homes flooded, devastated. What are you think of it? It is

terrifying, it comes from nowhere. What do you think of the river? It

is scary. We will have more on the storm.
