Hi, I'm Ricky with your morning update. Coming right up: British

And how phones of the future could use Star Wars-style holograms.

First, lots of you will be heading back to school today after the

holidays. But for many this may not be as straight forward as it sounds,

because thousands of homes and schools across the UK have been

damaged by bad storms. More than 100 flood warnings are still in place,

and forecasters predict more heavy rain for the south and south east of

England. One of the areas worst hit by the storms over the past few days

was Aberyswyth in Wales, where the seafront was ripped apart. Around

150 residents had to go to rescue centres during high tides last night

as huge waves swept the promenade. BBC reporter Charlotte Dubenskij has

been speaking to children there. This is the promenade at

Aberystwyth, which has been battered and bruised by storms which have

bought a waves of around 1.8 metres will stop with them, the waves

brought a brief from the sea bed. If you look towards my feet, what you

see is like a pebble Beach. A few days ago, there was stone and

concrete under here. Much of it has been ripped up by the waves and

throwing 12 metres before buildings here. Residents, hundreds of them,

were urged to evacuate yesterday. The clean-up is expected to cost

millions of pounds. We can't go to places around here. I am upset

because we can't play and staff. The last few days have been devastating

for Aberystwyth because all the sand has been coming up from the beach

and damaging all the road and path. Jenny is in Aberystwyth later

talking to children and finding out how to clear up after a flood. Tune

in later to watch her report. Meanwhile, temperatures in parts of

the United States are expected to reach record breaking lows as a

blast of arctic air continues its journey across a large part of the

country. Residents are being told to stay inside as the wind could make

it feel as cold as minus 51 Celsius in some areas. That's much colder

than your freezer! The Winter Olympics take place in

Sochi in Russia in a month's time. Britain is hoping for a good haul of

medals, and, to get you into the spirit of the Winter Games, we

caught up with one British medal hope - snowboard slope-styler Billy

superstar. I started after skiing with my school when I was 14.

Slopestyle Inc is sliding from the top of a hill to the bottom and

hitting five or six features. -- slope styling. You need good aerial

awareness for the jumps. You need good balance form the rails. You

have to make your tricks look different to other people. If I can

get on the podium, I will be so happy. I have been training for four

years. It would be everything for me, for sure.

Talking of the The Voice, the big red chairs are back. The show

returns on Saturday for series three with two new coaches. Watch out for

flashes coming up. Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue and Kaiser

Chiefs' leading man Ricky Wilson are jumping in the swivelling seats. The

show suffered falling ratings last year, so does Kylie think she can

keep the viewers watching? Everything we have recorded so far

is edge of your seat. It was for me. Who do you let go? Who do you keep?

You don't want to lose anyone. If it is about the quality of the show, I

can't see why it would dip. Last up, Star Wars-style holograms

could be used to send messages in the near future, according to a

company working on the hi-tech idea. A Polish firm say they've developed

the Leia Display System, which works by projecting hi-resolution images

on to water vapour, and this could be developed for interactive phone
