Afternoon, guys, I'm Leah with your Sunday Newsround live on CBBC.

0:00:140:00:17

Let's kick off with a look at some of the top sports stories today.

0:00:170:00:20

And today is all about the chase for European football.

0:00:200:00:23

In the lunchtime match, Liverpool are looking to leapfrog

0:00:230:00:25

Manchester City and get back into third place by beating

0:00:250:00:27

Southampton at Anfield.

0:00:270:00:37

The current score is nil-nil.

0:00:370:00:39

But the biggest match today is fifth versus sixth, as Arsenal host

0:00:390:00:42

Manchester United this afternoon.

0:00:420:00:43

United Manager Jose Mourinho will hope to have Chris Smalling

0:00:430:00:46

back in his team as so many of his defenders are injured.

0:00:460:00:55

You may have heard about the general election in the UK but today France

0:00:550:00:59

is picking its new President.

0:00:590:01:00

Jenny's in Paris.

0:01:000:01:01

Hi, Jenny...

0:01:010:01:03

Hello, Leah, welcome to Paris, the capital city of France.

0:01:030:01:08

I'm on the Champs-Elysees, a big shopping street,

0:01:080:01:10

right in the city centre.

0:01:100:01:12

You might be able to see the famous Arc de Triomphe, just behind me!

0:01:120:01:16

And yes, across the country, millions of adults are out

0:01:160:01:20

and about today, voting.

0:01:200:01:22

Just like in the UK, local places, like schools have been turned

0:01:220:01:26

into voting stations.

0:01:260:01:31

Walking around Paris you wouldn't know much is going on.

0:01:310:01:38

They've got to choose between two people to be their next president,

0:01:380:01:41

a woman called Marine Le Pen and a man, Emanuel Macron.

0:01:410:01:44

They're both very different, and have very different ideas

0:01:440:01:46

about how to run the country.

0:01:460:01:47

If you want to find out more about either of them,

0:01:470:01:50

head to Newsround Online for our guides on each candidate,

0:01:500:01:52

and how the vote works.

0:01:520:01:56

So that's it, people here have the rest of the day

0:01:560:02:02

to decide who will be in charge of their country

0:02:020:02:04

for the next five years.

0:02:040:02:06

Make sure you're watching Newsround online and on TV tomorrow morning

0:02:060:02:08

to find out who wins it.

0:02:080:02:09

I'll have everything you need to know.

0:02:090:02:11

Au revoir!

0:02:110:02:12

Back to you, Leah.

0:02:120:02:13

Now, recognise these things?

0:02:130:02:15

We've been taking a closer look at fidget spinners!

0:02:150:02:17

Have they been banned from your school?

0:02:170:02:19

Are they dazzling or distracting?

0:02:190:02:20

Ricky's got this one.

0:02:200:02:22

DANCE MUSIC.

0:02:220:02:30

Fidget spinners are taking over playgrounds.

0:02:300:02:31

The small toys have become the latest must-have gadget.

0:02:310:02:39

My spinner is a glow-in-the-dark one.

0:02:390:02:42

You get relaxed when it spins, and it's really satisfying.

0:02:420:02:45

You can have challenges with other people, you can trade and you can

0:02:450:02:48

customise them as well.

0:02:480:02:51

These fidget spinners have got a rather surprising past.

0:02:510:02:53

They were originally designed to help children with certain

0:02:530:02:55

conditions like autism deal with stress.

0:02:550:02:58

But these little things are causing big headaches for lots of teachers.

0:02:580:03:03

Sometimes children, they get distracted,

0:03:030:03:05

then they don't concentrate on their work.

0:03:050:03:07

They try and rush it so they can play with it,

0:03:070:03:09

and they don't produce much quality work.

0:03:090:03:18

They've since been banned in a number of schools,

0:03:180:03:20

but here in Manchester teachers are a bit more relaxed.

0:03:200:03:23

They're happy for kids to play with them, but only

0:03:230:03:25

outside of the classroom.

0:03:250:03:27

You can play with them at lunchtime and playtime,

0:03:270:03:30

but you're not allowed to play with them during class.

0:03:300:03:32

We have them banned in classes, and around the school environment.

0:03:320:03:35

You're only allowed them in break time, lunch.

0:03:350:03:38

We're really happy to have kids enjoying fidget

0:03:380:03:42

spinners on the playground.

0:03:420:03:43

We're seeing them get a lot of fun, they're

0:03:430:03:45

developing their fine motor skills.

0:03:450:03:47

But we have asked that they put them away as soon as they enter

0:03:470:03:51

the building, so that they are not a distraction in lessons.

0:03:510:03:54

We've found children were more interested in watching

0:03:540:03:55

each other do tricks than they were in

0:03:550:03:57

watching the teacher.

0:03:570:03:59

The spinners only cost a couple of pounds, but some websites have

0:03:590:04:02

started to charge a lot more, as their popularity increases.

0:04:020:04:04

VIDEO: Which one is better for fidgeting?

0:04:040:04:07

Online videos showing tricks have had millions of views.

0:04:070:04:10

Until the next big thing in the playground, it looks

0:04:100:04:12

like the fidget spinner will be around until at least the summer.

0:04:120:04:22

Next, to the gadget that's helping people with sight problems.

0:04:220:04:24

Watch this.

0:04:240:04:26

Meet Charlie - he's eight years old and loves

0:04:260:04:29

gaming with his brothers.

0:04:290:04:30

Charlie has Stargardt macular dystrophy, which means his eyes

0:04:300:04:32

don't work properly.

0:04:320:04:35

He started losing his sight when he was four.

0:04:350:04:38

One night when we were driving home, you asked me, "Can you read the sign

0:04:380:04:41

on the back of the van?"

0:04:410:04:42

And I couldn't.

0:04:420:04:43

Now these goggles are helping him to see

0:04:430:04:46

properly for the first time.

0:04:460:04:50

It works.

0:04:500:04:52

HE GASPS

0:04:520:04:54

Are you all right?

0:04:540:04:55

Yeah...

0:04:550:04:56

Are you just really pleased?

0:04:560:05:04

So, if you have Stargardt, things that are far away get fuzzy

0:05:040:05:07

and small.

0:05:070:05:12

The goggles help Charlie zoom in and magnify what is in front of

0:05:120:05:16

him.

0:05:160:05:17

His school have decided to pay for the goggles to help him in

0:05:170:05:20

class.

0:05:200:05:21

He is able to work at the same pace as the rest of the

0:05:210:05:25

children, and he's working at a very fast pace.

0:05:250:05:27

He's lapping up all of the learning that we are offering him.

0:05:270:05:30

The tech also helps Charlie play against his brothers, and even beat

0:05:300:05:33

them at football.

0:05:330:05:34

Yes!

0:05:340:05:43

On your barks...

0:05:440:05:45

Get set? Go!

0:05:450:05:46

It's not just Olympic athletes who set off on the starter's pistol.

0:05:460:05:49

Hundreds of four legged fundraisers have been running in a charity

0:05:490:05:51

dog race in Thailand.

0:05:510:05:53

It was a test for all shapes and sizes.

0:05:530:05:55

The special track was designed to test their stamina.

0:05:550:05:57

It's all to raise money for a hospital in the capital Bangkok.

0:05:570:06:00

Look, Chief! There are new levels in the Danger Mouse Game.

0:06:020:06:05

Really?! Will there be new locations to explore,

0:06:050:06:08

new enemies to extinguish
