Hi, I'm Martin with your afternoon Newsround.

First, good news for Harry Potter fans -

tonight's the first preview of a play that tells the story

of everyone's favourite wizards after they've grown up.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is already set to break records,

but just how successful is the Harry Potter empire?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was first published in 1997.

Author JK Rowling became the first person to earn $1 billion

from writing books - that's almost ?700 million.

These books have been translated into more than 70 languages,

with over 450 million copies sold, giving it the title

With the newest instalment of Harry's journey opening

as a theatre show in London, it's sure to be another record-breaker.

The current rules on fireworks mean there's a ban on what time

they can be set off and when they can be sold.

Animal lovers started the petition, because they believe

these rules aren't doing enough to protect their pets.

He's absolutely petrified of fireworks

and I've never seen him so scared in all his life,

Because more than 100,000 people signed the petition,

the Government decided to hold a debate where they talk

But not everyone agrees that a change in the rules is a good idea.

We think the restrictions in place are already good enough.

We encourage anybody that's going to enjoy fireworks at home

to be a good neighbour and let the neighbours know,

so that they can be prepared and look after any animals.

There are no plans to change the laws at the moment.

But with this debate, it's hoped that people will be

more aware of how fireworks affect our furry friends.
