Hi, I'm Martin with all of Friday's top stories just for you.

Find out what happens to your festive trees after christmas.

Plus, the team making history in the FA Cup.

Imagine what it would be like to make a phone call to space. A group

of children had an assembly with a difference when they did just that

and had a conversation with Tim Peake as he orbited above their

heads. Today, the International Space Station crosses over this bit

of earth for ten minutes. It is quite a small window in which the

kids in this school will contact Tim Peake. They've been training for

days for this. What training have you had? I had to take an exam and

fit that into a few days. Just a few seconds to go until we get contact.

very nervous but when we heard his voice it blew our minds. I can tell

Now, lots of you will have said goodbye to your Christmas

decorations this week, but what have you done with them?

I've been to a recycling plant where they're giving old trees

a new lease of life... There's nothing quite like the magic

of a Christmas tree but come the start of January,

a good way to put your tree to use And I've come to this waste centre

in Greater Manchester to see These trees have been taken

from people's houses and over there is household waste -

but because of that it really But the good thing is these trees

will be broken down in these big machines next to me

and eventually made into compost. That is good for the environment but

made into wood chippings that can be And if your tree came in a pot,

it could even be replanted The Carbon Trust, who are

an environmental organisation, say that all these options

are better than trees ending up in our non-recyclable waste,

where they would decompose. We are interested in finding out

whether real trees or artificial trees are better for the environment

and the answer is real trees are better, artificial trees are made

far-away in places like China, and are shipped over here. More people

are recycling the Christmas trees because they are aware of the fact

that it is a good thing to do and the local government are providing

better facilities to turn them into new things.

bags of compost that can be used in our gardens and parks -

and maybe even used to grow more Christmas trees.
