First up, last night the people of France had a big vote to decide

who they want to run their country for the next five years.

Jenny is live for us in the capital city of Paris.

Bonjour, I'm in Paris, the capital city of France.

It's almost 24 hours since Emmanuel Macron was announced

It's a public holiday here today, and the streets are full

One thing I have noticed is that there's more security than normal.

There are lots of police in the city centre.

Leaders from around the world have been congratulating Macron,

including our prime minister, Theresa May.

The celebrations began for Emmanuel Macron.

found out Macron would be the next president.

I've been walking round Paris today and I can tell you it's hard to find

many people who supported Marine Le Pen here.

In other areas of France though, there will be lots of people

who are disappointed that she did not win.

Emmanuel Macron has already started doing some public duties.
