Good morning, I'm Ricky, and this is Newsround. | :00:11. | :00:14.
First, what should Britain do about the children, escaping war, | :00:15. | :00:16.
who have travelled to Europe on their own? | :00:17. | :00:19.
It's part of a big argument about whether the UK has already | :00:20. | :00:22.
done enough to help child refugees, or whether it should do more. | :00:23. | :00:25.
Jenny went to meet one politician who was a child refugee himself, | :00:26. | :00:29.
and has been campaigning to allow more lone children into the UK. | :00:30. | :00:47.
This was the Europe 80 years ago. Many people were fleeing the Nazis, | :00:48. | :00:55.
who killed many people in Europe in what is now known as the Holocaust. | :00:56. | :01:01.
Seven out of ten Jewish people living in Europe were killed. Alf | :01:02. | :01:08.
dubs lived in a country called Czechoslovakia and he is now a | :01:09. | :01:11.
politician in the UK. I was six years old, living in Prague, a | :01:12. | :01:17.
capital city. The Germans occupied Prague in 1939 things began to | :01:18. | :01:20.
change and there were German soldiers everywhere. | :01:21. | :01:32.
My mother was refused permission to leave. She put me on a kindergarten | :01:33. | :01:36.
transport, trains taking children from Germany, Austria, and | :01:37. | :01:39.
Czechoslovakia to Britain. I was the youngest person on the train, maybe | :01:40. | :01:44.
150 children on this train. We went in the night. On the night boat to | :01:45. | :01:50.
halogen then we went on the train to live station. How important was it | :01:51. | :02:00.
to you? -- Liverpool station. I think kindergarten sports saved My | :02:01. | :02:10.
Life. There are many children like this in Europe today. I think it is | :02:11. | :02:16.
tough. These children have no one to protect them. There is a campaign to | :02:17. | :02:21.
get some of these unaccompanied children to this country, to safety. | :02:22. | :02:25.
What did you hope would happen? I hope several thousand of them should | :02:26. | :02:29.
come to Britain. I never said they should all come to Britain will stop | :02:30. | :02:34.
I hoped they would find safety, love and affection after all the terrible | :02:35. | :02:38.
experiences. The Government said 200 loan children had been brought to | :02:39. | :02:43.
Britain under the scheme, set up by Alf dubs and it would close after | :02:44. | :02:47.
another 150 would be settled in the UK. There was a row about whether | :02:48. | :02:52.
the UK Government has done enough to help. Alf Dubs does not think so. I | :02:53. | :03:00.
am disappointed. For these children, there was hope for the better life. | :03:01. | :03:03.
I hope the Government is feeling ashamed. The Government says it has | :03:04. | :03:11.
helped unaccompanied children and it encourages children to make a | :03:12. | :03:13.
dangerous journey across Europe. What do you say to that? I do not | :03:14. | :03:19.
agree with the arguments. We can take some, we have to be asked. You | :03:20. | :03:24.
cannot say, because some might come we will ignore the ones in Europe | :03:25. | :03:27.
anyway for some it is awful. You cannot turn our backs on them. What | :03:28. | :03:33.
do you think will happen? We need to look very hard at every opportunity | :03:34. | :03:38.
to change their minds. We asked the Government to respond. They told | :03:39. | :03:39.
us... 20,000 Syrians will be getting a new | :03:40. | :03:51.
home in the UK by 2020. Should Arsene Wenger | :03:52. | :03:56.
stay or should he go? That's the question on the lips | :03:57. | :03:58.
of many Arsenal fans this week after the team's humiliating 10-2 | :03:59. | :04:01.
aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich Gunners fans in London have been | :04:02. | :04:04.
telling us what they think. Arsene Wenger should leave Arsenal | :04:05. | :04:15.
because he lost 3-1 against Liverpool due to the fact he had put | :04:16. | :04:20.
Sanchez on the bench. Arsenal are not doing well, so I think he should | :04:21. | :04:24.
have a break and come back to football. We are not winning any | :04:25. | :04:29.
matches and Arsenal are not going to get into the Champions League next | :04:30. | :04:32.
year for the big players signing like Koscielny and Sanchez are going | :04:33. | :04:59.
to leave at some point and we need to get back winning more matches. | :05:00. | :05:01. |
