You're live with me, Jenny, bringing you all of today's top stories. | :00:00. | :00:07.
I don't think this one species should be kept in captivity. | :00:08. | :00:17.
Find out what Steve Backshall is talking about and why. | :00:18. | :00:19.
And keep watching to see possibly the worst penalty ever. | :00:20. | :00:30.
First, a famous animal park has announced it's making changes to | :00:31. | :00:33.
the killer whale displays at one of its sites in America. | :00:34. | :00:37.
The decision by SeaWorld comes after years of pressure from campaigners | :00:38. | :00:42.
who say making the animals perform for people is cruel. | :00:43. | :00:44.
These dramatic displays have amazed thousands of visitors to SeaWorld | :00:45. | :00:56.
parks in the United States for decades. But the shows haven't | :00:57. | :01:01.
always pleased everyone. Animal rights campaigners say keeping | :01:02. | :01:04.
killer whales for entertainment is cruel and unnecessary. And now it | :01:05. | :01:10.
seems change is coming at one of SeaWorld's parks in California. In | :01:11. | :01:16.
201, we will launch an all-new Orca experience. It is going to be | :01:17. | :01:19.
focused more on the national setting, natural environment, and | :01:20. | :01:21.
also the natural behaviours of the whale. It | :01:22. | :01:23.
also the natural behaviours of the conservation message. So why the | :01:24. | :01:28.
change now? SeaWorld has suffered from a dip in visitor numbers across | :01:29. | :01:33.
all of its parks in America, since the release of a documentary film | :01:34. | :01:38.
two years ago which claimed the whales were unhappy being kept in | :01:39. | :01:45.
such small tanks. Many celebrities, including One Direction, have spoken | :01:46. | :01:50.
out about keeping killer whales in captivity too. Peta is calling on | :01:51. | :01:55.
SeaWorld to do the right thing to stop breeding Orcas and start | :01:56. | :01:59.
construction on coastal sanctuaries, which will allow these Orcas to | :02:00. | :02:03.
engage in behaviours that are naturally important to them. | :02:04. | :02:08.
SeaWorld has told the BBC that the killer whale displays will continue | :02:09. | :02:12.
at its other theme parks in Texas and Florida. This means the fight | :02:13. | :02:16.
over the future of these creatures will continue too. | :02:17. | :02:18.
Well, SeaWorld say they work hard to look after their killer whales, | :02:19. | :02:20.
But a lot of campaigners say they just don't belong in captivity. | :02:21. | :02:24.
One person who agrees with that is CBBC widlife presenter Steve | :02:25. | :02:27.
Orca are the world's largest species of dolphin and they have a very big | :02:28. | :02:39.
brain. They are very intelligent. They are really social with the | :02:40. | :02:43.
other members of their pod, which usually are members of their own | :02:44. | :02:49.
family. Family. It has also been shown that they will grieve their | :02:50. | :02:52.
dead and grieve when their calves are removed from them to be taken | :02:53. | :02:56.
into captivity this. Is a creature that could travel 100 miles in a | :02:57. | :03:00.
day, that's like swimming from London to Birmingham, every day. So | :03:01. | :03:04.
if you were to take an organise ka and stick it into essentially a | :03:05. | :03:08.
large swimming pool, it would be like having us locked into a bedroom | :03:09. | :03:13.
for the rest of our life with one single song in the background being | :03:14. | :03:17.
played on loop over and over again, never able to communicate with other | :03:18. | :03:20.
members of friends and family. I don't think this one species should | :03:21. | :03:24.
be kept in captivity. Thank you Steve. | :03:25. | :03:26.
Next to a big cheating scandal in athletics that could mean one | :03:27. | :03:29.
of the world's biggest countries is banned from the next Olympics. | :03:30. | :03:31.
A new report claims Russia has been giving some | :03:32. | :03:34.
of its athletes an unfair advantage by using drugs to help them perform | :03:35. | :03:36.
The organisation behind the report is recommending | :03:37. | :03:39.
the country's athletics team should be banned from future events, | :03:40. | :03:43.
including the Rio Olympics, until it cleans up its act. | :03:44. | :03:45.
Russia has denied doing anything wrong, and any decision on what | :03:46. | :03:48.
The public and the media have to have confidence that we are at least | :03:49. | :04:02.
pursuing as hard as we can. We might never catch all the cheats, I don't | :04:03. | :04:08.
think we ever will, but we are pursuing that process as hard as we | :04:09. | :04:12.
can. But when they are caught they are sanged and they serve a penalty. | :04:13. | :04:16.
The idea that somehow tests are being thrown away or there's a delay | :04:17. | :04:21.
in sanctioning certain athletes, for whatever reason, is unacceptable. | :04:22. | :04:23.
You can find out all about how athletes are drug tested | :04:24. | :04:25.
And while you're there check out two cool space stories about Pluto's ice | :04:26. | :04:30.
moons, and how the Northern Lights look from other planets. | :04:31. | :04:33.
Plus find out how to vote in our big bullying debate. | :04:34. | :04:37.
Before I go, you can decide on whether this is | :04:38. | :04:39.
It happened in a Highland League game in Scotland. | :04:40. | :04:44.
Luckily this guy's team, Brora Rangers, still won. | :04:45. | :04:47.
But that, my friend, is pretty hard to live down. | :04:48. | :04:52. |
