Hey there.

0:00:050:00:05

It's Martin with your Friday afternoon Newsround update.

0:00:050:00:07

Here's what's coming your way.

0:00:070:00:10

Meet Hijarbie, the new online star.

0:00:100:00:11

And Newcastle United have got a new manager.

0:00:110:00:17

It's five years since Japan was hit by one of the most

0:00:250:00:26

powerful earthquakes ever.

0:00:280:00:30

It caused a giant wave out at sea, called a tsunami, which grew

0:00:300:00:33

to ten metres high.

0:00:330:00:35

Half an hour after the quake, the tsunami hit the north-east coast

0:00:350:00:38

of the country, destroying everything in its path.

0:00:380:00:47

Today, people have been paying tribute to those

0:00:470:00:49

who lost their lives with a minute's silence at the time

0:00:490:00:51

of the earthquake.

0:00:510:00:52

Clearing up and rebuilding has been a big task and children living

0:00:520:00:55

there are given special classes so they know what to do

0:00:550:00:58

if another earthquake hits.

0:00:580:01:01

Leah travelled to Ishinomaki Elementary School to take part

0:01:010:01:04

in a safety class.

0:01:040:01:12

Schoolkids across Japan learn how to be prepared in case anything

0:01:120:01:15

like this happens again.

0:01:150:01:17

These kids have regular lessons in staying safe

0:01:170:01:19

if there's an earthquake.

0:01:190:01:22

It was playtime here at this playground, and the children have

0:01:220:01:24

just heard an announcement made on the tannoy, and it's been

0:01:240:01:29

reinforced by the teachers here that an earthquake is about to happen.

0:01:290:01:33

The idea is that everyone stays calm, collected and safe.

0:01:330:01:41

TRANSLATION: We all went through the actual disaster

0:01:410:01:43

and learned how scary it could be so it's important to have drills

0:01:430:01:46

like this one.

0:01:460:01:48

Of course, if I'm to face a real one, I'm sure I'll be nervous.

0:01:480:01:52

But going through a drill like this is very important.

0:01:520:02:00

Head online to watch Leah's special report from Japan to find out

0:02:020:02:05

exactly what happened five years ago today.

0:02:050:02:09

Storms have caused big problems in some of the southern

0:02:090:02:12

states of America.

0:02:120:02:13

In Texas, farms and houses were flooded because of

0:02:130:02:15

the heavy rainfall.

0:02:150:02:17

Volunteers had to work quickly to rescue horses and other animals

0:02:170:02:20

that became trapped by the flood waters.

0:02:200:02:22

More than 30 centimetres of rain fell over a day and a half

0:02:220:02:25

in the state.

0:02:250:02:29

To football now, and Newcastle United have got a new manager.

0:02:290:02:32

Former Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez has been named

0:02:320:02:34

as the replacement to Steve McClaren, who was

0:02:340:02:36

sacked earlier today.

0:02:360:02:39

In a statement, the club thanked Steve for his work,

0:02:390:02:41

saying that a change was needed to give the club the best chance

0:02:410:02:44

of staying in the Premier League.

0:02:440:02:46

There are just ten games to go until the end of the season.

0:02:460:02:51

A Barbie wearing a headscarf, called a hijab, has become

0:02:510:02:53

a massive star online.

0:02:530:02:56

A Nigerian Muslim blogger, Haneefah Adam, started posting

0:02:560:03:00

photos of Hijarbie three months ago.

0:03:000:03:03

And she sent Newsround this report about why creating the doll's

0:03:030:03:05

clothes is important to her.

0:03:050:03:09

My name is Haneefa Adam, I'm a 24-year-old Nigerian

0:03:090:03:13

and a medical scientist.

0:03:130:03:15

I'm currently the brain behind Hijarbie.

0:03:150:03:20

I thought that I've not really seen a doll that was just dressed up

0:03:200:03:24

in a hijab before.

0:03:240:03:27

And I thought, why not create a doll that can actually dress the way

0:03:270:03:31

I dress.

0:03:310:03:34

And here we are.

0:03:340:03:36

It takes me about two to three hours to sew and dress her up,

0:03:360:03:41

while I style a hijab.

0:03:410:03:45

It's actually a really nice process I enjoy doing.

0:03:450:03:49

It is actually quite important to me because I am a creative person.

0:03:490:03:53

I love creating stuff.

0:03:530:03:55

It's also important because a lot of Muslim girls can relate

0:03:550:03:58

to the page because Hijarbie dresses like they dress.

0:03:580:04:02

I hope to inspire a lot of girls out there.

0:04:020:04:06

I hope to put the hijab wearing girl in a more positive light.

0:04:060:04:11

I also hope to create a more inclusive community where people can

0:04:110:04:15

actually be inspired by outfits and see how Islam can

0:04:150:04:18

actually be beautiful.

0:04:180:04:25

Tourists in South America were treated to an amazing natural

0:04:250:04:27

sight when giant chunks of the ice arch of the Perito Moreno glacier

0:04:270:04:31

broke off in front of them in southern Argentina.

0:04:310:04:35

The glacier measures about 70 metres in height.

0:04:350:04:38

Every so often ice breaks off and crashes into Lake Argentina.

0:04:380:04:44

That's all from me.

0:04:440:04:47

Newsround's back tomorrow morning at 8.55am.
