Good afternoon, I'm Ayshah, this is Newsround. | :00:12. | :00:13.
First some breaking news - Theresa May will become the UK's | :00:14. | :00:17.
The BBC's Ross Hawkins has more on the story. | :00:18. | :00:23.
There was a chance for someone else to be the Prime Minister | :00:24. | :00:26.
because the man who does the job at the moment, David Cameron, | :00:27. | :00:29.
decided to give it up after the result of that big vote | :00:30. | :00:32.
we had about whether we should stay in the European Union or not. | :00:33. | :00:35.
His replacement had to come from the Conservative Party, | :00:36. | :00:37.
because they won the general election where we chose | :00:38. | :00:40.
At first, there were five people who had a chance to get the job. | :00:41. | :00:46.
One of those was called Andrea Leadsom, and she made some | :00:47. | :00:58.
comments suggesting she would be best because she's a mum. | :00:59. | :01:00.
Now, some people were pretty upset about that. | :01:01. | :01:02.
There was a huge row and today she dropped out. | :01:03. | :01:04.
So we are left with just one candidate left. | :01:05. | :01:07.
She still needs to go and see the Queen, there are still some bits | :01:08. | :01:11.
But it looks all but certain that we're going to have our second | :01:12. | :01:16.
of female Prime Minister after Margaret Thatcher, | :01:17. | :01:20.
another Conservative years and years ago. | :01:21. | :01:24.
And we've got some breaking news on this. | :01:25. | :01:26.
The British Prime Minister David Cameron has just said the country | :01:27. | :01:28.
will have a new Prime Minister by Wednesday. | :01:29. | :01:30.
Mr Cameron said in a speech outside ten Downing Street that he'll hand | :01:31. | :01:34.
in his resignation on the day, and Theresa May will then take over | :01:35. | :01:37.
Next to America where the way black people are treated by the police | :01:38. | :01:47.
I've been looking into what's been going on. | :01:48. | :01:55.
From Baton Rouge in Louisiana, to St Paul in Minnesota and Dallas | :01:56. | :02:01.
in Texas, people across America have been taking to the | :02:02. | :02:04.
And in these three cities there's a lot of anger. | :02:05. | :02:11.
It all started last week after the shootings of two black men | :02:12. | :02:14.
by police officers in two separate events. | :02:15. | :02:18.
Protestors think that what happened was wrong and that police | :02:19. | :02:20.
do not treat black people and white people equally. | :02:21. | :02:24.
Most of the protests have been peaceful. | :02:25. | :02:28.
But in Dallas in Texas, a gunman opened fire. | :02:29. | :02:31.
Five police officers died and nine other people were wounded. | :02:32. | :02:35.
Clashes between police and black communities in America have been | :02:36. | :02:38.
When Barack Obama became America's first black President, | :02:39. | :02:44.
many people hoped things would get better, but the problem | :02:45. | :02:47.
Two years ago Ricky went to America to find out what young people | :02:48. | :02:53.
He spoke to teenagers in Philadelphia where there | :02:54. | :02:57.
I think the police are more afraid of African-Americans. I think they | :02:58. | :03:11.
are threatened. But it makes you feel like you are threatened? Do you | :03:12. | :03:16.
respect the police? There are some police that you can't trust. They | :03:17. | :03:23.
arrest you for nothing. I think there is police that do care and to | :03:24. | :03:27.
know who is out there who I can trust. | :03:28. | :03:28.
Leaders across America have been calling for the violence to stop, | :03:29. | :03:35.
and for police and communities to work together to make things | :03:36. | :03:38.
New Wimbledon champ Andy Murray is still basking in his victory | :03:39. | :03:42.
The Scot beat Canadian Milos Raonic, who is known for his powerful | :03:43. | :03:48.
It's Murray's second Wimbledon title, and third grand slam overall, | :03:49. | :03:56.
Magic Murray is now setting his sights on the Olympics next month. | :03:57. | :03:58.
Like I said, I feel very motivated just now. | :03:59. | :04:06.
Not just for the next few tournaments, but through to | :04:07. | :04:09.
Rio is obviously a big goal of mine and hopefully I can perform well. | :04:10. | :04:19.
And, yesterday was a huge day for British sport. | :04:20. | :04:22.
Lewis Hamilton closed the gap on team-mate Nico Rosberg at the top | :04:23. | :04:25.
of the Formula One table, with a win in the British Grand | :04:26. | :04:28.
Great British wins continued in the European Athletics Championships | :04:29. | :04:34.
where they picked up seven medals, with two golds from the men's | :04:35. | :04:37.
They finished with 16 medals in total, their highest | :04:38. | :04:46.
Portugal beat home nation France in the Euros footie Championship | :04:47. | :04:48.
in Paris 1-0 with a dramatic goal in extra time! | :04:49. | :04:54.
That's all from me, I'll be back tomorrow morning at 7:40. | :04:55. | :04:58. |
