Morning, Ricky here with your Wednesday Newsround.

0:00:020:00:06

Coming up in the next few minutes: How computer games are bringing Max

0:00:060:00:09

and his friends together.

0:00:090:00:10

And how to grow the world's biggest pumpkins.

0:00:100:00:14

Will Young dropped a Strictly bombshell last night.

0:00:250:00:28

He announced that he's leaving the show because

0:00:280:00:31

of personal reasons.

0:00:310:00:33

The singer said he left with joy in his heart.

0:00:330:00:36

He also said he loved taking part in the show.

0:00:360:00:40

Well, despite him leaving, show bosses say there will still be

0:00:400:00:42

an elimination this weekend.

0:00:420:00:45

From fancy footwork to a bit of footie now ? let's take a quick

0:00:450:00:49

look at some of last night's World Cup qualifying matches.

0:00:490:00:54

England were thankful to the brilliance of goalkeeper

0:00:540:00:56

Joe Hart as they escaped with a 0-0 draw away at Slovenia.

0:00:560:00:59

Wayne Rooney started on the bench, but England

0:00:590:01:01

did not impress without him in a pretty flat performance.

0:01:010:01:06

And there was shock for Scotland as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat

0:01:060:01:09

to Slovakia, leaving them fourth in Group F.

0:01:090:01:13

And rounding off a disappointing night for the home nations,

0:01:130:01:15

Northern Ireland lost 2-0 away to Germany, conceding two goals

0:01:150:01:18

in just five minutes.

0:01:180:01:22

Hurricane Matthew struck the Caribbean island of Haiti last

0:01:240:01:26

week and then swept on to affect the Bahamas and then

0:01:260:01:29

the United States.

0:01:290:01:31

But Haiti was the worst affected because the country is so poor.

0:01:310:01:35

Charities are working hard to get food and aid into the country.

0:01:350:01:39

Leah has been finding out how children there have been affected.

0:01:390:01:44

Much-needed food and aid is being brought into the south of Haiti,

0:01:450:01:49

the part of the island most affected by Hurricane Matthew

0:01:490:01:51

that struck last week.

0:01:510:01:54

Power is still out and people urgently need clean food and water.

0:01:540:02:00

Lots of homes were knocked down by the storm and waves,

0:02:000:02:03

and lots of crops growing in the fields were destroyed, too,

0:02:030:02:06

so food like rice is having to be brought in from elsewhere.

0:02:060:02:11

Charities in the Caribbean country say they're worried about diseases

0:02:110:02:13

spreading in the area.

0:02:130:02:17

Schools are being used to provide temporary shelter to help

0:02:170:02:20

the thousands of people left homeless, which

0:02:200:02:21

includes many children.

0:02:210:02:25

TRANSLATION: The wind, the wind.

0:02:250:02:28

All the coconut trees were destroyed.

0:02:280:02:30

All sorts of trees fell down.

0:02:300:02:32

The wind destroyed everyone's house.

0:02:320:02:35

All my school books got ruined.

0:02:350:02:39

The tin roof flew away.

0:02:390:02:42

Roofs and tree branches flew away.

0:02:420:02:44

Water started coming in, things were flying everywhere.

0:02:440:02:46

Water surrounded us.

0:02:460:02:48

That night, it almost reached us.

0:02:480:02:51

We were able to get out, but left all our things behind.

0:02:510:02:53

We had to get them from the ditch.

0:02:530:02:55

The United Nations says a massive response is needed to help around

0:02:550:02:58

1.4 million people in the country who need urgent help.

0:02:580:03:03

Hurricane Matthew may be gone from Haiti,

0:03:030:03:05

but the damage still remains.

0:03:050:03:07

Cerebral palsy is a disorder that affects many different kids

0:03:100:03:13

in many different ways.

0:03:130:03:15

12-year-old Max, who lives in Australia, is one of them,

0:03:150:03:18

but thanks to some special technology, he and his classmates

0:03:180:03:21

have found new ways of communicating and having fun together.

0:03:210:03:26

Meet Max - he loves school and hanging out with his mates.

0:03:270:03:31

Max has trouble speaking because he has cerebral palsy,

0:03:310:03:34

a condition that means his brain has trouble communicating

0:03:340:03:36

with his muscles.

0:03:360:03:38

Where is Mr Jessett?

0:03:380:03:40

But recently, a piece of technology called Compass has meant that Max

0:03:400:03:45

can now communicate by himself.

0:03:450:03:46

Compass is great and I can communicate independently.

0:03:460:03:52

What's more, it's helped him get closer to his classmates

0:03:520:03:55

because they've been able to make games that he can play on it.

0:03:550:03:59

That's it, where the red dot is, well done.

0:03:590:04:02

Our teacher said that we should make a game for Max and it

0:04:020:04:05

just went from there.

0:04:050:04:07

We all thought about ideas and I went with the maze.

0:04:070:04:11

One of my other friends went with a car racing game.

0:04:110:04:15

They use coding and programmes like this to create all

0:04:150:04:17

the different parts of the game.

0:04:170:04:21

This game, he smiles a lot when he plays them because he really

0:04:210:04:26

enjoys being able to play games with eye gaze rather than just

0:04:260:04:29

watching someone else play them.

0:04:290:04:33

OK, Max, the point of this game is to help you strengthen your eye

0:04:330:04:36

gaze for getting round the track.

0:04:360:04:37

Thanks to the games, Max has come away with new friends.

0:04:370:04:40

When I first met Max, I didn't really know how

0:04:400:04:42

to interact with him, but then when I started making this,

0:04:420:04:45

I started interacting a lot more with him.

0:04:450:04:47

Me and Max have a good friendship now.

0:04:470:04:49

They also entered the games they designed into a technology

0:04:490:04:52

competition and came a brilliant second place.

0:04:520:04:57

They say they're just glad Max has a new way to have fun

0:04:570:05:00

with his friends.

0:05:000:05:01

The countdown to Halloween starts right here on

0:05:030:05:06

Newsround with this story.

0:05:060:05:08

You're looking at some of the biggest pumpkins

0:05:080:05:10

ever grown in the world.

0:05:100:05:11

They're been shown off at a competition in the US

0:05:110:05:13

for the orange veg.

0:05:130:05:15

This teacher from Washington won with the biggest

0:05:150:05:17

pumpkin of them all.

0:05:170:05:19

And her tip on growing giant pumpkins?

0:05:190:05:21

Finding the right seed.

0:05:210:05:24

And last up to the moment an endangered bird of prey

0:05:240:05:27

was released into the wild in South America.

0:05:270:05:29

Zoo keepers in Argentina had been looking after this Andean condor

0:05:290:05:32

and after the right care it was strong enough to be released

0:05:320:05:35

back into the wild.

0:05:350:05:36

Look at it go.

0:05:360:05:39

Before I go, there's just enough time to give you some exciting news.

0:05:390:05:42

Astronaut Tim Peake is coming into Newsround HQ this Saturday

0:05:420:05:45

and we want your questions for him!

0:05:450:05:47

If you've ever wondered what it's like to be an astronaut or how

0:05:470:05:51

to get his amazing job then let us know.

0:05:510:05:53

That's all from me - Newsround's back this

0:05:530:05:55

afternoon at 4.20pm.

0:05:550:05:56

See you then.
