Hi, I'm Martin, with all your news this Wednesday afternoon.

0:00:030:00:07

Coming up in the next few minutes:

0:00:070:00:10

Kids get hands on with creepy crawlies at an insect conference.

0:00:100:00:14

And that sinking feeling, the moment this road

0:00:140:00:16

in America collapsed.

0:00:160:00:19

First, more than 5,000 pupils in Ediburgh are still off school

0:00:270:00:30

because of worries that their school buildings are not safe.

0:00:300:00:34

The problem started in January when hundreds of bricks were blown

0:00:340:00:37

from a wall at a primary school during a storm.

0:00:370:00:40

That school reopened after a few days, but in March it was decided

0:00:400:00:43

that all the schools built by the same company would

0:00:430:00:46

have to be inspected.

0:00:460:00:54

Over 3,000 pupils are back in class,

0:00:540:00:56

but many more still don't have places to study.

0:00:560:00:58

The council says it hopes to have all pupils back

0:00:580:01:00

in lessons by next week.

0:01:000:01:02

We spoke to two girls affected.

0:01:020:01:03

It's sort of good, because we're missing

0:01:030:01:05

some of the bad subject, because we're missing

0:01:050:01:08

but it's also not too great, because we're missing like good

0:01:080:01:11

subjects like drama and stuff.

0:01:110:01:12

I'm quite happy about that, it's just an extra

0:01:120:01:14

Easter holiday.

0:01:140:01:16

It's easier for us to miss subjects than

0:01:170:01:19

fourth, fifth and six years, because they've got upcoming exams

0:01:190:01:27

and they are going to go on exam.

0:01:270:01:29

Believe it or not, without insects

0:01:290:01:31

there would be no life on earth.

0:01:310:01:32

So kids in Shropshire have been at a special

0:01:320:01:34

insect science conference today.

0:01:340:01:35

It's all about getting children up close with bugs so they can learn

0:01:350:01:39

more about the role insects can play in different aspects of science,

0:01:390:01:43

from pollinating plants to being the food for bigger animals.

0:01:430:01:47

Some of them are even being used for experiments,

0:01:470:01:49

by carrying sensors on their back.

0:01:490:01:52

It's a lot more interesting knowing, and getting to know the animals,

0:01:520:01:57

rather than a book.

0:01:570:01:58

It's a great opportunity to learn about the world

0:01:580:02:01

around you, and get the hands-on experience.

0:02:010:02:04

It's one of the busiest times of year for sheep farmers

0:02:040:02:08

when thousands of lambs are born.

0:02:080:02:10

Lambing season started in January and comes to an end this month,

0:02:100:02:16

so Leah went to a farm in North Wales to find out more.

0:02:160:02:19

BAA!

0:02:200:02:22

The beginning of a new day.

0:02:220:02:25

And the start of new life.

0:02:280:02:32

For Tom and Mally, it's the best time of year because they get

0:02:320:02:35

to help their parents deliver thousands of lambs here on the farm,

0:02:350:02:39

and bring new life.

0:02:390:02:41

This sheep's just had two lambs, they will go in a little pen

0:02:410:02:45

with her, and they will get fed and all that.

0:02:450:02:49

What's the matter?

0:02:490:02:50

What's the best thing about lambing season for you?

0:02:550:02:57

Well, out here there's always something different to do.

0:02:570:03:01

Well, it's mainly really fast, you have to be

0:03:010:03:04

up really early if you want to help.

0:03:040:03:07

And now the moment we've been waiting for.

0:03:070:03:10

Tom is able to safely deliver a lamb, after years of practice.

0:03:100:03:14

4,000 are expected to be born here this lambing season which makes

0:03:140:03:18

it a really busy time.

0:03:180:03:21

What I enjoy is lambing the sheep because it's fun

0:03:210:03:25

when you get to learn how to pull them.

0:03:250:03:28

Last year we had four that had four lambs.

0:03:280:03:33

After a wobbly start to life, each new lamb is getting ready

0:03:330:03:37

to explore their new home.

0:03:370:03:39

Well, almost.

0:03:390:03:41

Sport next, and it's a big day for basketball fans in the US.

0:03:420:03:45

A team called the Golden State Warriors

0:03:450:03:47

are on the brink of something special.

0:03:470:03:49

This season, they've become only the second team ever

0:03:490:03:52

to have won 72 games,

0:03:520:03:54

putting them level with a Chicago Bulls side

0:03:540:03:56

who did it over 20 years ago.

0:03:560:03:58

Victory tonight means they'll be the first to ever achieve 73 wins,

0:03:580:04:03

and a former player thinks the fans deserve it.

0:04:030:04:06

Just to have this opportunity for the team is something

0:04:060:04:11

that they all deserve, and hopefully they can

0:04:110:04:14

achieve their goal, and mark history.

0:04:140:04:20

Now take a look at this, this mobile phone footage shows

0:04:200:04:22

the moment a road in california in america collapsed leaving a huge

0:04:220:04:25

hole about 20 feet deep.

0:04:250:04:29

The sinkhole is thought to have been caused by recent heavy rain

0:04:290:04:32

washing away soil under the road.

0:04:320:04:33

Scary stuff.

0:04:330:04:35

And if you want even more amazing stories go online to find out

0:04:350:04:38

about plans to send tiny spacecraft to another solar system, meet

0:04:380:04:44

meet Palmerston the new mouse catcher cat working

0:04:440:04:46

for the government and see the skateboarders taking over

0:04:460:04:50

a water park in Dubai.

0:04:500:04:51

That's all from me, Newsround's back right

0:04:510:04:56
