Good afternoon, Martin here, with Monday's Newsround.

:00:12.:00:14.

First, to sad news from Orlando in America.

:00:15.:00:18.

In the early hours of Sunday morning there were attacks there.

:00:19.:00:21.

Cities across America have been laying flowers and candles

:00:22.:00:27.

to show people in Orlando that they care.

:00:28.:00:31.

It's because of attacks that happened there in a nightclub

:00:32.:00:35.

in the early hours of Sunday morning.

:00:36.:00:37.

Sadly 50 people died and 53 others were injured.

:00:38.:00:40.

The man responsible for the attack was shot by police, before

:00:41.:00:42.

The group that calls itself Islamic State have said

:00:43.:00:53.

that they carried out the attack,

:00:54.:00:55.

although this hasn't been confirmed by the authorities.

:00:56.:00:57.

The American President, Barack Obama has spoken out

:00:58.:00:59.

We know enough to say that this was an

:01:00.:01:06.

As Americans, we are united in grief,

:01:07.:01:13.

an outrage and in resolve to defend our people.

:01:14.:01:15.

We don't know exactly why the attack happened,

:01:16.:01:17.

but it could have been the result of hatred towards gay people.

:01:18.:01:20.

And in the city of Orlando people are trying to come

:01:21.:01:26.

As the investigation continues, there are several words

:01:27.:01:31.

This is a city trying to make sense of the senseless and they're

:01:32.:01:49.

Hundreds have queued for hours to donate blood for the victims

:01:50.:01:53.

in hospital as the community come together to show their support

:01:54.:01:55.

Remember, if anything you see in the news upsets you,

:01:56.:01:59.

Now, because this shooting happened in a gay nightclub,

:02:00.:02:04.

some people think it could have been a homophobic attack.

:02:05.:02:07.

But what is homophobia? Here's Ricky to explain.

:02:08.:02:11.

Homophobia is a hatred or fear of gay people.

:02:12.:02:15.

Homo comes from the Greek word for "same" and phobia meaning "fear".

:02:16.:02:21.

Homophobia can lead to people being bullied or attacked

:02:22.:02:24.

because they fancy or love someone of the same gender.

:02:25.:02:28.

In the UK, it's against the law to treat people differently

:02:29.:02:31.

But there are some countries around the world where it's illegal to be

:02:32.:02:36.

The group that calls itself Islamic State have killed people

:02:37.:02:42.

for being gay as they say it's against their beliefs.

:02:43.:02:45.

Gay communities have adopted the rainbow flag

:02:46.:02:47.

Parades take place in cities around the world each year

:02:48.:02:54.

where people come together to support one another.

:02:55.:02:58.

If you are the victim of homophobia, make sure you talk

:02:59.:03:00.

Remember it isn't anything to be ashamed of.

:03:01.:03:09.

In ten days' time, adults across the country will have

:03:10.:03:12.

Whether the UK should stay in or leave a club of 28 countries

:03:13.:03:19.

in Europe, called the European Union.

:03:20.:03:21.

Now, the decision might be up to grown-ups but whatever

:03:22.:03:24.

So Nazia and Ricky will be finding out what kids all over Europe think.

:03:25.:03:31.

I've come to the Costa Del Sol in sunny Spain

:03:32.:03:37.

to meet some of the thousands of British people who moved to live

:03:38.:03:40.

There's a lot of sun, a lot of places to be, you

:03:41.:03:44.

can just go to the beach anytime you really want.

:03:45.:03:46.

The 28 nations in the European Union club agreed to make

:03:47.:03:50.

it as easy as possible for people to travel,

:03:51.:03:52.

Now there's a big argument over the vote to stay in or

:03:53.:04:05.

And what it will mean to people back home, here in

:04:06.:04:09.

Spain and other countries like Poland.

:04:10.:04:10.

Which is where I am, Warsaw, the capital of

:04:11.:04:12.

Hundreds of thousands of Poles have moved from

:04:13.:04:15.

Since Poland joined the European Union in 2004.

:04:16.:04:19.

My uncle, he works in a coffee shop and

:04:20.:04:21.

As well as talking to kids and teens here in

:04:22.:04:29.

Poland, I will be looking at why people coming to the UK from other

:04:30.:04:33.

EU countries has become such a big talking point ahead of the big vote

:04:34.:04:37.

That's all from me, Newsround's back in the morning.
