First today to the sad news from Orlando in the US

:00:11.:00:14.

where an attack happened at the weekend.

:00:15.:00:17.

President Obama has said he will visit the area

:00:18.:00:20.

Cities around the world, including London, Brussels,

:00:21.:00:26.

Glasgow and many more have been holding tributes to show they care.

:00:27.:00:33.

The attack in the early hours of Sunday morning

:00:34.:00:35.

was the worst mass shooting in recent US history.

:00:36.:00:38.

Some people think rules around guns are to blame.

:00:39.:00:41.

Today marks the most deadly shooting in American history.

:00:42.:00:48.

This massacre is a further reminder of how easy it is for someone

:00:49.:00:52.

to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people in a school,

:00:53.:00:56.

a place of worship, or a movie theatre or in a nightclub.

:00:57.:01:00.

And we need to decide if that's the country we want to be.

:01:01.:01:08.

That's the American President, Barack Obama,

:01:09.:01:09.

speaking after an attack in Orlando in the early hours of Sunday morning

:01:10.:01:12.

that killed 49 people and injured many more.

:01:13.:01:18.

It's not the first time he's spoken about the need for gun control.

:01:19.:01:21.

He's repeatedly made speeches like this every time there's been

:01:22.:01:23.

That's because masss shootings are a big problem in America.

:01:24.:01:31.

For every 100 people in the United States,

:01:32.:01:33.

there are around 90 guns - compared to only 6 for every 100

:01:34.:01:36.

In America, it's relatively easy to get a gun if you're over 18.

:01:37.:01:45.

The rules are much tougher in the UK.

:01:46.:01:49.

The right to what's known as "keep and bear arms" was written

:01:50.:01:52.

into American law within years of the country being

:01:53.:01:54.

Back then, America didn't have a well-established army

:01:55.:01:59.

and people felt it was important to have the right to carry a weapon

:02:00.:02:10.

to keep order or in case the country was attacked.

:02:11.:02:12.

the United States is a very different place

:02:13.:02:15.

but many people there still see the right to own a gun

:02:16.:02:18.

as an important part of being American -

:02:19.:02:20.

and as a way of protecting themselves.

:02:21.:02:22.

They argue that it's not the law that's at fault,

:02:23.:02:25.

but a small number of people who use guns in the wrong way.

:02:26.:02:29.

But others disagree and want the law to change,

:02:30.:02:32.

saying that if fewer people had access to guns,

:02:33.:02:34.

President Obama wants it to be much harder to buy a gun

:02:35.:02:40.

and wants tougher background checks

:02:41.:02:42.

and police to assess if a person is suitable to own the weapon.

:02:43.:02:47.

But with such fierce opinions on both sides,

:02:48.:02:52.

it will be difficult to make any changes.

:02:53.:02:54.

Remember, if anything you see in the news upsets you,

:02:55.:02:56.

Now get ready for a spot of sun, sea and sand

:02:57.:03:10.

Now, there are just nine days to go before a big vote on the European

:03:11.:03:15.

Union that will affect all of our lives to come.

:03:16.:03:19.

Welcome to the Spanish sun cost, the Costa Del Sol.

:03:20.:03:22.

It's one of Europe's holiday hotspots,

:03:23.:03:24.

and lots of British families live here.

:03:25.:03:25.

But next week's vote on whether we stay in

:03:26.:03:27.

or leave the European Union could affect their lives,

:03:28.:03:30.

and your summer holidays in the future.

:03:31.:03:31.

For many of us, Spain is a place we like to come to on our holidays.

:03:32.:03:49.

But thousands of people from the UK have moved to live here

:03:50.:03:52.

More than 1 million British people

:03:53.:04:00.

live in other EU countries as well.

:04:01.:04:02.

It is wonderful living in Spain

:04:03.:04:05.

because of the wildlife and the hot weather.

:04:06.:04:08.

You can go to the beach any time you want.

:04:09.:04:15.

The music, the dance, the celebrations we have here,

:04:16.:04:17.

The European Union is a bit like a club

:04:18.:04:24.

It is made up of 28 countries, who all have an agreement to make life

:04:25.:04:30.

as easy as possible for those that want to travel,

:04:31.:04:34.

And now there is a vote called a referendum

:04:35.:04:40.

on whether the UK should stay in or leave that club.

:04:41.:04:44.

And people are now asking what that might mean

:04:45.:04:46.

for the Brits that live in other EU countries.

:04:47.:04:55.

Those who want to stay in the European Union

:04:56.:04:58.

say it is easier to travel, live and work in countries

:04:59.:05:01.

Well, those that want to leave the EU

:05:02.:05:10.

say Brits living abroad would still be allowed

:05:11.:05:13.

to stay, and holidays to EU countries would not be affected.

:05:14.:05:17.

So what do kids from the UK who live here

:05:18.:05:19.

think the vote will mean for them?

:05:20.:05:25.

I think if we leave it will be a bit harder for my parents

:05:26.:05:29.

to do their job, because I have lived here for six years

:05:30.:05:32.

My dad might have to get a visa to go back to England and

:05:33.:05:37.

work here at the same time and it might just be a bit chaotic

:05:38.:05:40.

The community, with Europe and the UK, is very unique

:05:41.:05:47.

and I think we should keep it that way.

:05:48.:05:52.

I think it will also affect the friends travelling to Spain

:05:53.:05:55.

it might make it a bit harder for them.

:05:56.:06:04.

To be honest, I am not really too fussed about it

:06:05.:06:07.

because it doesn't affect me too much.

:06:08.:06:09.

As long as everything is fine at the end of the day,

:06:10.:06:12.

everyone is happy, then to be honest I don't really mind.

:06:13.:06:19.

And you can go online to find out more about the referendum.

:06:20.:06:24.
