We've got a space themed Newsround for you this Friday.

British astronaut Tim Peake make his first steps out into space!

And ice volcanoes on Pluto - the latest from new horizons.

It's been a very exciting day for British astronaut Tim Peake

who has taking part in his first spacewalk.

Tim is working on the outside of the International Space Station

carrying out important repairs as it orbits around earth.

This is the moment Tim Peake stepped out of the International Space

Station and into the vastness of space.

He stopped for a few moments, hanging beneath the airlock,

Earth below and the infinite black of space above.

You can spot Tim from the Union flag on his shoulder.

It's really cool seeing that Union Jack go outside.

He's now about three hours into his spacewalk and isn't

scheduled to finish until after 7 o'clock tonight.

It's an epic achievement for any astronaut.

It is fantastic because it is not guaranteed that astronauts will do

spacewalks. They are dangerous and technical so they only get done if

they need to be done so it is lucky he had an opportunity to do this.

Tim, and fellow astronaut Tim Kopra, were helped into their spacesuits

The suits are big, bulky and very tricky to work in,

with every movement taking a lot of effort.

When you do these jobs, and using your hands, it is like squeezing a

tennis ball for six and a half hours. It is quite exhausting.

I think it will be the most exhilarating feeling imaginable. You

are there at the edge of what we are capable of, it is extremely mentally

and physically demanding but it is what I have trained for and what I

am looking forward to doing. into his mission, Tim now joins

been chatting to the stars on the red carpet, but they'll have

to wait until next month to find out if they are a winner

at the Brits 2016 and, more crucially, if they'll
