The countdown is on for the Great American Solar Eclipse.

Try and make as many new friends who don't go

to your primary as you can.

Some advice for those of you starting high school.

And we reveal the latest celebrity taking part in Strictly.

The countdown is on for the Great American Solar Eclipse,

which happens on August 21st.

It's the first time a total solar eclipse has happened in decades.

Here's Whitney to explain.

There are three key players in the solar system.

The sun, the moon and of course the Earth which we live on.

On a normal afternoon the sun shines on the Earth.

This means it is bright during the day and as the Earth

turns around at night, it makes everything goes dark.

But on the afternoon of Monday 21st of August,

something different will happen.

The moon will come between the Earth and the Sun.

The minimal block out the sun rays.

The moon will block out the sun rays which will cast a shadow over

the United States of America.

This will create a total solar eclipse.

It will happen over 14 states in the US.

From the west to the east coast in the middle of the day.

It's a big deal because there hasn't been a total solar

eclipse in 38 years.

And one like this which goes from coast to coast hasn't happened

in nearly 100 years.

Wowza!

Millions of people are expected to watch it in the US.

And they will be making sure they wear their special protective

glasses for looking up.

But don't feel left out, we will be able to see a small part

of the Sun covering the moon from the UK.

And of course we will be showing you exactly what is happening

in America here on newsround.

Now, for some of you, the summer holidays are over -

and you're now at High School.

You may have been for the first time today!

But if you're feeling a bit nervous, no problem -

these guys have a bit of advice for you.

When it's, like, a Friday, don't act excited because the teachers

will most likely keep you later so that you can miss your bus

so you have to stay home...

Stay at school later.

If you're feeling nervous, you should go and talk to someone,

because that's what I did in the first couple of weeks and it

made me feel a lot more confident about school.

Don't feel stressed.

It's a big...

It's going to be bigger than primary school and it takes

a while to get used to, but after a while you

will get used to it.

Be loud and confident with your answer instead

of just being like "Oh, is it this?"

Behave, do your homework, do what the teacher asks.

Try and make as many new friends who don't go

to your primary as you can.

On the first day, don't be by yourself.

Go and find new people, make new friends.

First impressions for teachers are really important,

because teachers will base how your behaviour is off

that first impression.

And you don't have a first impression twice, so you should

behave really well.

Next, the latest celebrity for this year's Strictly Come Dancing has

been announced - and she's one of CBBC's very own presenters.

Susan Calman is the host of quiz show Top Class, but she'll soon be

swapping her clever clogs for dancing shoes.

Susan says she's looking forward to revealing all the moves she's

been practising in her kitchen.

We can't wait to see her strut her stuff.

And this giant panda cub is looking for a name.

She was born at a zoo in Japan a few weeks ago.

Zookeepers there have received 250,000 entries after they announced

competition to let the public name the panda.

They'll reveal the winner in September.
