Why top diver Tom's trying to get more of you to take up the sport.

This is Newsround. First, Russian President Vladimir

Putin has warned that Ukraine is on the brink of civil war. It is after

Ukrainian forces fought back against armed groups claiming to support

Russia in the east of the country. Similar pro-Russian groups have

taken control of buildings in ten towns and cities in recent days but

this is the first time Ukraine has fought back. Tensions are rising

ahead of international talks about what to do next. But Britain's

Foreign Secretary says it is up to Russia to stop causing problems.

In recent days, Russia has deliberately pushed Ukraine to the

brink and created a still greater risk of violent confrontation. We

call on Russia to stop these actions. And to condemn the lawless

acts in eastern Ukraine. And you can find out loads more

about the background to what's happening in Ukraine on the

Newsround website right now. Next, church leaders have called on

politicians to do more to prevent people in Britain from going hungry.

It is in response to the latest figures from the Trussell Trust - a

charity that supplies emergency food parcels to people who can't afford

their own shopping. The trust say the number of parcels they've handed

out has doubled in the last year. The government say it's not clear

how many went to new people and how many were for repeat visitors.

Now, plunging into a pool from the height of two double decker buses

might not be something at the top of your to do list. But, Olympic star

Tom Daley has made a career out of it - and now he's starting a new

scheme to try and more kids around the UK to give it a go. We sent Nel

to the his first training session as a coach.

This is what you have worked for four whole decade. Diving is a scary

sport. I always get nervous. You have to learn to live with it and

rise to the occasion. The crowd are on their feet. Tom Daley has done

all he can. If you enjoy water parks, diving is the closest thing.

You get to play in the water all day and do tumbles, turns, somersaults

and twists. It is fun and a great way to meet new friends. Listen to

that noise! It is all for you, Tom Daley. Every single scream and

shout. In the past, diving was a sport that people didn't know about.

Because of the Olympics there is this great facility and it is on TV

with splash. I wanted to try it when I saw Tom Daley. It can be scary,

but I want it to conquer my fear. It is great to do this when Tom Daley

is around. At the moment, this scheme is only available to those in

London, but it is hoped that it will soon be ruled out across the UK.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with Prince George have

arrived in Australia for a busy ten day visit to the country. They will

be visiting the capital city Canberra, Brisbane and the Blue

Mountains. But before all of that the royal couple spent time meeting

well wishers at the Sydney Opera House. The BBC's Jon Donnison says

the royal couple were busy as soon as they arrived.

They touched down one hour and 50 minutes ago. They were greeted by a

number of dignitaries, including the Prime Minister. They were whisked

off pretty quickly to the Sydney Opera House where Prince William

gave a reception and he talked about what Prince George's first word

might be. He said it was maybe going to be call our lobby. -- koala bear.

Finally, just when you thought there'd been a scientific study

about almost everything - one comes along about beards. Researchers in

Australia have been studying people's attitudes towards face fuzz

and have concluded that most people prefer clean shaven face. Make sure
