Good morning, I'm Jenny, it's Friday, and this is what's | 0:00:05 | 0:00:07
coming up on Newsround. | 0:00:07 | 0:00:11
The scientists hoping to shine some light on black holes. | 0:00:11 | 0:00:14
And the dolphins having a whale of a time in south Africa. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:18
First up to the goalkeeper who has just become the most | 0:00:27 | 0:00:29
expensive in British history. | 0:00:29 | 0:00:31
Jordan Pickford has left Sunderland, who were relegated last season, | 0:00:31 | 0:00:33
to join Everton for a fee that could rise to ?30 million. | 0:00:33 | 0:00:36
We'll get to see Pickford in action when he plays for England Under-21's | 0:00:36 | 0:00:41
in this summer's European Championships. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:46
Now, when it come to space, black holes are pretty mysterious things. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
But a group of scientists in China have just launched a special | 0:00:49 | 0:00:52
telescope which is aiming to shed a little light on the subject. | 0:00:52 | 0:00:58
Meet the Insight telescope, China's first x-ray telescope, which they've | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
just launched into space. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:04
Its job will be to search for black holes and help scientists | 0:01:04 | 0:01:07
understand them better. | 0:01:07 | 0:01:09
Black holes are pretty elusive characters, | 0:01:09 | 0:01:12
and are usually invisible to regular space telescopes. | 0:01:12 | 0:01:15
This is because they suck in all the light which is nearby | 0:01:15 | 0:01:18
to them with their super strong gravitational pull. | 0:01:18 | 0:01:21
However, the new Insight telescope has a bit of a trick up its sleeve. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:24
When objects like stars get sucked into a black hole, | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
they heat up and give out x-rays. | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
These are then picked up by the Insight telescope and sent | 0:01:29 | 0:01:33
back to the scientists here on Earth. | 0:01:33 | 0:01:36
Researchers are hoping it will help them to learn more about how | 0:01:36 | 0:01:39
the black holes behave and tell them about other object in our galaxy. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:43
Pretty cool. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:49
This is one of the most famous paintings in | 0:01:49 | 0:01:51
the world - the Mona Lisa. | 0:01:51 | 0:01:53
But you've never seen her looking like this... | 0:01:53 | 0:01:56
A Spanish street artist has created a mega-mural of the painting that's | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
over 50 metres tall on the side of a building in Paris. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
The artist says he wanted a new version for the whole world. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:09
Do you miss X Factor or The Voice? | 0:02:09 | 0:02:12
They might not be on at the moment, but a brand new singing show | 0:02:12 | 0:02:15
starts on Saturday night. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
30 choirs and singing groups will be battling it out | 0:02:18 | 0:02:21
for a big prize of ?50,000, over six episodes. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
Take a look at this. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:28

# Makes me feel this way! | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
It is vocal groups, amazing vocal groups, | 0:02:43 | 0:02:49

competing, basically, to be crowned the best vocal group | 0:02:52 | 0:02:56
of Pitch Battle. | 0:02:56 | 0:02:59
Mel Giedroyc will be joined by judges choirmaster Gareth Malone | 0:02:59 | 0:03:02
and American singer Kelis, so get your voices ready | 0:03:02 | 0:03:05
to sing along this weekend. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:12
Next up, these pelicans look pretty happy but it was a different story | 0:03:12 | 0:03:15
a couple of months ago. | 0:03:15 | 0:03:16
Here's Hayley to explain why. | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
Hundreds of pelicans have been seriously poorly due to a poisonous | 0:03:18 | 0:03:21
algae that's been growing far too rapidly in the waters | 0:03:21 | 0:03:24
where they live. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
While small amount of this algae are fine, the pelicans have big | 0:03:27 | 0:03:30
appetite and too much of the green stuff can make them ill. | 0:03:30 | 0:03:34
When this toxin builds up, gets in the fish, | 0:03:34 | 0:03:37
doesn't hurt the fish. | 0:03:37 | 0:03:38
Get in the barnacle, doesn't hurt the barnacle. | 0:03:38 | 0:03:40
But when things in turn eat those critters, like our seagulls, | 0:03:40 | 0:03:42
like our pelicans, like our loons, when they eat these critters | 0:03:42 | 0:03:45
they can concentrate that material so much inside them they get sick. | 0:03:45 | 0:03:53
After eating this stuff the pelicans find it difficult to swim or fly, | 0:03:53 | 0:03:56
and have to receive help from local wildlife reserves, where they nurse | 0:03:56 | 0:03:59
the birds back to health. | 0:03:59 | 0:04:05
When the algae has vanished from the water and the birds' | 0:04:05 | 0:04:08
tummies are better, the vets get to take the pelicans | 0:04:08 | 0:04:11
to the beach and release them back into the water. | 0:04:11 | 0:04:13
It's the best part of my job, releasing pelicans. | 0:04:13 | 0:04:15
You see them in the pool, and they look like they're doing OK, | 0:04:15 | 0:04:18
but once you bring them out here you see how happy | 0:04:18 | 0:04:21
they are to be out back in the wild, and the best thing is when they jump | 0:04:21 | 0:04:25
out of the crate so fast they kick sand up in your face! | 0:04:25 | 0:04:28
Back up on their feet and with better tummies, | 0:04:28 | 0:04:31
the pelicans are just happy to fly free back to the water | 0:04:31 | 0:04:33
that they call home. | 0:04:33 | 0:04:39
Finally, check out these playful dolphins off | 0:04:39 | 0:04:41
the coast of South Africa. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:42
Drone footage caught the pod jumping in the waves for over eight hours. | 0:04:42 | 0:04:46
The dolphins were kicking back after the area where they live had | 0:04:46 | 0:04:49
been hit by big storms recently. | 0:04:49 | 0:04:51
That's all from me, Newsround's back right here in about half-an-hour. | 0:04:51 | 0:04:58
Brand-new Matilda And The Ramsay Bunch is coming up next... Yeah. | 0:05:08 | 0:05:11
..and the Ramsays are taking it to the go-kart track, to see who's | 0:05:11 | 0:05:14 |
