Hi, I'm Ricky, it's Friday, this is Newsround and here's what's

:00:00.:00:08.

And can a world drumming record be broken for BBC Music day?

:00:09.:00:28.

First, BBC Music Day took place yesterday,

:00:29.:00:31.

with more than 800 live events taking place across the UK.

:00:32.:00:33.

It was all to celebrate 'the power of music' for all ages,

:00:34.:00:37.

I went to Portsmouth, where some of you guys were trying

:00:38.:00:40.

16 schools, 860 drummers, one challenge. To break the world record

:00:41.:00:58.

for the largest djembe drum ensemble. Here in Portsmouth, this

:00:59.:01:01.

is what these guys are about to try to do. I think we can break the

:01:02.:01:05.

record because we have been a leading up to this moment and we are

:01:06.:01:09.

going to dominate it. And even if we don't break the world record, I'm

:01:10.:01:13.

still excited to be here with my friends. The difficulty in this

:01:14.:01:19.

record attempt is that everyone needs to stay synchronised. Each

:01:20.:01:23.

participant must play their individual drum during the entire

:01:24.:01:27.

attempt, and none of the instruments can be shared. You must keep

:01:28.:01:31.

drumming for the full five minutes. And they were off. The record they

:01:32.:01:36.

have to beat is five minutes. 406 to seven drives. Come on, guys. So they

:01:37.:01:43.

have just finished drumming and the plan is now to head outside and that

:01:44.:01:47.

is where they will find out if they have officially broken the world

:01:48.:01:50.

record. It gives me great pleasure to present Portsmouth music hub with

:01:51.:01:56.

the Guinness world record title for the largest djembe drum ensemble.

:01:57.:02:03.

Congratulations. Mission Complete. Meet the new djembe drumming world

:02:04.:02:10.

record holders. I feel absolutely amazed. It is a very prestigious

:02:11.:02:16.

thing. It is a very rare thing as well. I have been inspired to

:02:17.:02:20.

achieve anything if I set my mind to it and really try. The trickiest

:02:21.:02:27.

part was probably learning all the symbols and the timing. It has

:02:28.:02:30.

inspired me now and I really want to do more.

:02:31.:02:33.

If you're scared of heights, you might want to look away now.

:02:34.:02:36.

This is Erendira Wallenda and she has just broken the world

:02:37.:02:39.

record for the highest suspension over Niagra Falls

:02:40.:02:49.

between Canada and the United States.

:02:50.:02:51.

She dangled about one hundred metres above the water

:02:52.:02:53.

She did have a rope tether to keep her safe but she didn't have

:02:54.:02:57.

Obviously, this isn't one to try at home!

:02:58.:03:00.

Next up these pelicans look pretty happy but it was a different story

:03:01.:03:03.

Hundreds of pelicans have been seriously poorly due to a poisonous

:03:04.:03:10.

algae that has been growing far too rapidly in the waters where they

:03:11.:03:14.

live. While small amounts of this algae are fine, the pelicans have

:03:15.:03:17.

big appetites and too much of the green stuff can make them ill. When

:03:18.:03:22.

this toxin builds up, it gets in the little fish but does not heard the

:03:23.:03:27.

fish. In the barnacles, it does not hurt the barnacles, but when things

:03:28.:03:32.

like pelicans and seagulls eat those critters, they can concentrate that

:03:33.:03:35.

material so much inside of them that they get sick. After reading this

:03:36.:03:39.

stuff, the pelicans find it difficult to swim or fly and have to

:03:40.:03:42.

receive help from local wildlife preserves. The nurse the birds back

:03:43.:03:50.

to health. When the birds are better, the vets get to take the

:03:51.:03:53.

pelicans to the beach and release them back into the water. It is the

:03:54.:04:00.

best part of my job. Releasing pelicans, you see them in the pool

:04:01.:04:03.

and they look like they are doing OK but once you bring them out here you

:04:04.:04:07.

see how happy they are to be back in the wild and the best thing is when

:04:08.:04:11.

they jump out of the crate so fast that it kicks sand up in your face.

:04:12.:04:15.

Back on their feet and with better tummies, the pelicans are just happy

:04:16.:04:18.

to fly free back into the water that they call home.

:04:19.:04:22.

Next, check out these playful dolphins off

:04:23.:04:23.

Drone footage caught the pod jumping in the waves

:04:24.:04:27.

The dolphins were kicking back after the area where they live had

:04:28.:04:32.

Finally, this has had everyone at Newsround HQ oohing and ahhing.

:04:33.:04:38.

This is one of four four-day-old baby hedgehogs that

:04:39.:04:42.

are currently being looked after at the Wiltshire

:04:43.:04:44.

Because they are so tiny they require a lot of special care.

:04:45.:04:50.

That's all from me, Newsround's back right here tomorrow.

:04:51.:04:56.

Yo, whassup? Do you watch CBBC shows on your phone or tablet?
